    I was on the market to buy the perfect touring bike for a long time, I really wanted to buy the lightest, most optioned touring bike, I looked at few 2005 - 2007 R1200rt and most of then had the servo brake issue and for me the lack of ABS was a deal breaker... there was not many comprehensive 2010 BMW R1200rt reviews on TH-cam so I decided to make one, hope you enjoy, feel free to ask any questions I will try my best to answer in less than 12 hours. Cheers.

      good insight Max, allow me to ask until what year of production the ABS pump was a problem, i heard theta the abs pump is very espensive, around 3 thousand euros. Cheers

      @@TheEdudo hi mate, thanks for Watching I believe from 2007 they removed the problematic servo from ABS unit, please read on this forum for more info: www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/430484-R1200RT-Servo-brakes-what-years

      So the servo issue on the earlier bikes is not a fixable problem?

    • @MaxReviewss
      @MaxReviewss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically there are 2 remedies: to bypass the servo and ABS and servo and I have seen this alot with braided lines on 2005 -2008 bikes, not recommended. Second option is the expensive one, to have the dealer fix this. Not sure if anyone dares to repair the servo as it would be dangerous.

    ...I can share and understand your enthusiasm! Since 2021 I have owned a newly purchased R 1250 RT / 719... with radar, inductive charging compartment, fully equipped! The best I've ever ridden after 8 motorcycles! I didn't want to drive it in winter...too much salt on German roads! Last week I bought an RT 1200 / 2009 😳😎 just for winter use...best regards from good old Germany! 😉✌️

      @@MaxReviewss ... exactly like that! About motorcycles ... shapes, color, emotions ... could one argue but ??? The simple utility of an RT ??? Is beyond any doubt. The more the owner "lives" on his motorcycle ... the more it becomes clear ... that's not boredom, that's pure reason!

    IMHO the best touring bike BMW ever made. Stick a Corbin seat on it and it’s heaven.😍

    • @MaxReviewss
      @MaxReviewss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, very true, specially the original pillion seat is not the most comfortable for longer trips.

    Hi, glad you like your RT. I have the same model - I love the chassis and the way the bike handles in corners as I always rode sport bikes. I have an engine remap which has upped the power too, 100 rwhp from 7k onwards and 100Nm too :). Highly recommended. Safe riding from UK

    Thanks, AWESOME video, really comprehensive and nice length! 😊 Btw the front and rear brakes are linked on your R1200RT, that's why you found braking with only the front brake lever so smooth and not needing the rear brake pedal. And also the 2007-2009 models also have ABS (I have the 2007).

    • @MaxReviewss
      @MaxReviewss  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate, yes great point, linked brakes, although not sure the front brake lever applies how much braking force to the rear caliper. And even my 1997 1100RT had ABS. But I believe 2005 - 2006 has the servo assisted brakes which was not so popular and problematic after some time. Enjoy your RT 😉

    Loved this review. I was looking today at exactly the same bike as this, color as well. I don't have the best past history with BMW ownership, nothing serious, just little quirks here and there. I am thinking I might go back to BMW, with this exact same model in mind. Many thanks.

      No isues with mine, it has been faultless and I have owned it seven years now. Dead easy to service, does 54MPG UK too :) - all service parts are cheap and easily sourced. No reliability problems and the weight is all low down.

    Since i am interested in purchasing a flat twin BMW, your test is a jewel!
    My heart balanced between the K 1200 LT and yours, and you spotted the weight problem. In France , the LT is nicknamed "la baleine", "the whale".. Your simple math showed me that i will not enjoy this overweight compared to the RT.
    Really amazed to read also that my actual K 100 RT from 85 (with 135 000 km) is heavier than your 1200 RT.
    Anyway, thanks for this really cleaver test, and i hope i find a decent exemplary around the 5000 euros (8000 Aussies dollars)
    Kuddos from Normandie!
    Side note: you spent the complete try riding on the left lane. Be careful..

      Hi mate, thanks for your feedback, yes, I am actually enjoying RT as I am only 70kg and 177cm, so Rt really suits me and it is growing one me... one more thing is about the pillion seat of K1200LT which is much much comfortable than RT. Yes mate in Australia we drive/Ride on the wrong side of the road ;)

    The vibration is likely either: throttle body synchronization (low cost) or maybe less likely a valve clearance adjustment. And don’t run the revs down so low (2000 to 2500 rpm in town etc) that newer design overhead cam engine does not like to lug just keep it at 3000 and above and you’ll even get better mileage and throttle response. I’ve got exact same model since new in 2010. I agree it is the ideal design of a larger bike. I get between 4.0 to 5.0 L/100km here in Canada (hot vs cold weather ). I rarely need to get it over 4000 rpm for what it’s worth. Happy riding!

    Thanks for the great review, considering buying a 2010 with 95000 kilometres on it.
    But there are a fair number of posts on expensive repairs to the final drive. Which seems to be a common problem even with bikes that are well maintained.
    Do you have any information on that?
    Thanks
