We so lucky to live in this beautiful area and we have walked over most of the area of Ryedale and the moors,we know where to go to avoid the popular hot spots that visitors congregate and spoil the peace and tranquility with cars noisy motorbikes and large walking groups👍🤗Which hostelries to have a meal without having to queue 👍🤗

I did my family tree and learned I have ancestors who were from this area. Lovely to be able to see it. Many thanks !

Rosedale sticks in my mind as we had to abandon an attempt at the Lyke Wake walk, overwhelmed by a severe storm while crossing Rosedale moor. We found a local farm who served ham and eggs. I think I was still a teenager sometime in the 1950s. (We did succeed on our 2nd attempt.)

I went hiking to Rosedale many years ago we camped there for a few days and learned that the Romans mined there also.

Passed through this area many times and its always fascinating due to its industrial past.

Interesting, but a couple of mistakes - the old railway line is NOT a bridleway, although people (including me!) have been riding on it for years. It is not even a public footpath, but a "permissive path" meaning the landowner has given permission for the public to use it. The pub halfway up the Chimney Bank is the White Horse, not the White House. And don't try booking a room at the Milburn Arms - it has been closed for many years.

Just a couple of pointers it’s actually Feversham not Faversham and the the band room is located at the car park at Low Mill next to the public convenience, the picture you show is of the old school house.
