    The speed of his decline is stunning and sad. We all need to realize these guys are literally sacrificing their health for our entertainment. Safety has improved some but you can bet this is still going on under the radar. As a KC fan I didn't follow him like I should, but always knew he was a beast. Bless the friends and family of this true Hall of Famer

    • @MrTrojan72
      @MrTrojan72 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can’t prevent injuries from happening in a contact sport like tackle football. I’m sure you’ll love when the NFL officially turns to flag football. ALS isn’t derived from a helmet to helmet hit let alone a tackle 😂😂😂

    • @DisandDat-ht5os
      @DisandDat-ht5os หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MrTrojan72 I didn't mean to imply ALS was from his football days, if you took it that way. I worked with a guy that played for the Seahawks for almost a decade and he was a beast as well. The hits to the head have taken a toll on him and he's not even 60, struggling with basics things in life.

    • @Vinny.X
      @Vinny.X หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are not sacrificing their health for our entertainment. Total bs. They do it for love of game and livelihood. I've never heard a football player say I went into the sport because I wanted to help others through entertainment.

    It's crazy how life can take unexpected turns. He was so big and strong on the field, and he was a big tough wrestler in WCW. Now he's dwindled into almost nothing and bedridden. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a cruel illness that causes the motor neurons inside your spinal cord to die. Over time, your muscles degenerate and you become a prisoner in your own body - progressively losing the ability to move, speak, swallow and, eventually, breathe. There is no cure. No one has ever gotten better after a diagnosis of ALS. The battle is almost over. Prayers to him.

    😊🏈🐻. It’s sad to see such a great player and human being going through this. Thank goodness he made the hall of fame before he passes away.

    That's so sad it's heartbreaking. It sheds an alternate light on the life of a football player. It happened to Jason Becker, too.

    I was born in Cook Co hospital in Chicago in 66', then my late father worked for American Airlines and moved us to DFW once the new (and current) DFW Int'l was built and AA moved their base operations here from O'Hare in 71'. I lived in Addison, IL til I was 5, but still loved Chicago, all my extended family there, and especially the Bears and Cubs! (yes, I'm a north-sider, sorry Sox fans...because the crappy Rangers are my AL baseball team). My older brother and I always spent every Summer 4-6 weeks with our extended family in Chicago. I'd watch all the day games back then the Cubs played every afternoon on WGN at my grandma's place in Argo/Summit area. That was before they put lights at Wrigley Field. Great memories and I MISS my sliders (White Castle). If y'all can have Whataburger (a TX staple) up there, we should have White Castles down here, freshly made, not this frozen crap we have to buy in the stores down here.
    All that said, I graduated HS down here in 85', the year my Bears won it all with that magnificent D, much like my Texas A&M Aggies (sorry Mongo! I know you're a tu grad hehe) had in the late 80s/early 90s with The Wrecking Crew on D during my time at A&M. I loved Walter, love McMahon and his swagger and intensity, the Bears D with the savage hits, all that! I remember Mongo even being in WCW with Flair & Co and to see how ALS has taken this man down saddens me, but love his fight.
    Mongo, Big Dan Hampton #99, The Fridge, Dent, Wilson, the two safeties that would take your head off, much like the 70s Raiders, just pumped me up every game watching these dudes DESTROY opposing QBs and offenses, particularly guys like Theisman, Phil Simms, any Packers, Lions, or Viqueens QBs. And the offense (like A&M) wasn't flashing, but just smash mouth, mostly run it down your throat with the amazing and legendary Walter Peyton, who himself like Zeke would just run people over.
    I love my birth city and my Bears. I have my DFW teams and A&M love too, but first and foremost, I'll ALWAYS be a Chicago'en and a Midwest guy (with a little TX spice to his personality). I'm 55 now, with several surgeries and other medical issues now from my own shift-working, stressful job, as well as battling depression (this coming from a very strong-willed guy just like Mongo). Love y'all, always will and DFW and Chicago will always be my first love and dedication. My wife of 26 years is a Denver transplant, so we go back n forth about what city and teams are better in all sports.
    Jarrett, stay strong my brother and know your father is always smiling and looking down at you, just like I hope my own dad (who was the AA employee and died right before Christmas 2012), and grandparents (who were Chicago'ens), and my father-in-law who just passed from Parkinson's disease (horrible just like cancer, ALS, MS, on and on) . Stay strong, Chicago. My apologies for the dissertation. Mongo, you and all my Bears favorites will always be in my prayers and thoughts. God bless you all.
