I havn't played Hi Fi Rush but from what other people have said about it I refuse to believe it was even as close to as good as RE4 Remake. RE4 was a damn amazing game while Hi Fi Rush is a Action Rythm where you don't even have to fight with rythm according to people which really just makes it an standard action game.
I've played both. Re4 although a remake, is in a completely different stratosphere to Hi-fi rush. RE4 is one of the few games that's stayed with me this entire year. Hi-fi rush was forgettable. It gets a lot of praise (Thanks largely imo due to the way it was released), but the characters in that game are just "silly" and quirky imo. Didn't click with me. And the gameplay is pretty niche (a mix between a rhythm game and hack and slash - no wonder it didnt get nonimated, too niche.) Re4 has the best 3rd person action I've ever experienced. Up there with TLOU 2 imo

It was a CPU hog that lacked basic upscaling functionality like DLSS didn't even have correct colour calibration by default like 99.9% of games that launch these days and it was a game with full budget and a big team behind it. HI-fi Rush on the other hand was an indie-level game developed by a very small team with a meager budget that ran like a dream for everyone even people with a potato. Just becauseohnoitsalex gets high CPU utilisation at 200 fps doesn't mean it's a bad port compared to RE4 and have CPU bottleneck. Popor guy don't even understand he is getting high CPU utilisation because he is running the game at 144 fps every game out there will have high CPU utilisation if he is running a game at those kind of frame rates. First of all a game being considered better than the other is subjective, everyone has their own opinions. Second, he’s a reviewer of PC games so he’s telling his audience about the quality of the Port that PC players will play. If you understand what a Port is you will understand it’s a more technical review about how it runs over regular reviews that talk about the game overall. A game can still be good but it can also suck on another platform if the Port didn’t work out. A typical standard would basically be a straight port, it runs good but nothing extra. A technical achievement is a game that goes above and beyond the typical. I never played Hi-Fi Rush so I can’t say anything about it. Hi fi is a better pc port. RE4 while being an amazing game in the end is still a remake that already won GOTY in 2005 and shouldn't be nominated.

Re4R is objectively the better game in every metric, but even if remakes couldn't be in GOTY nomination HiFi Rush still wouldn't get put in there, Street Fighter 6 would have because it scored in the 9ps, so HiFi Rush was never going to make the list, regardless.

If you really want to learn about a port being good or not look at channels like digital foundry, not alex who got top of the line rig and can't read stats to figure out whats going on in a game. RE4 is a game that had stuttering and crashing issues at launch on anything that had below 10GB of Vram. It was a CPU hog that lacked basic upscaling functionality like DLSS didn't even have correct colour calibration by default like 99.9% of games that launch these days and it was a game with full budget and a big team behind it. HI-fi Rush on the other hand was an indie-level game developed by a very small team with a meager budget that ran like a dream for everyone even people with a potato. Just becauseohnoitsalex gets high CPU utilisation at 200 fps doesn't mean it's a bad port compared to RE4 and have CPU bottleneck. Popor guy don't even understand he is getting high CPU utilisation because he is running the game at 144 fps every game out there will have high CPU utilisation if he is running a game at those kind of frame rates. Regarding denuvo both RE4 and hi-fi had that and thing stuff is despised by all and we can't really do anything about it.

The port has everything to do with the game. Batman Arkham Knight was a good game and should have been nominated but it had a horrible PC port. Fallout 4 shouldn't have been in that spot. I played it on Playstation so I don't know about the others but it played perfectly fine and for PUBG I didn't know it got nominated for game of the year but you also gotta put into consideration that the game awards is a joke. If there aren't enough good games they just gonna plop whatever came out that year as a nomination. I'd have to see what other games got nominated with PUBG before I say anything else.

When you make a game you have to decide what platform it will be made for. As someone that uses UE5 for work, when you start the process you have a choice to make the game on PC, Consoles, or Mobile. Then there’s IOS and Android etc… A game is created to run on ONE platform. When you Port a game you are converting it to run on different platforms. This can sometimes cause a lot of issues. BUT a game can still be good playing it on the platform it was made. Even if a game is released on ALL platforms, they still have ONE original platform, the others are ported.
First of all a game being considered better than the other is subjective, everyone has their own opinions. Second, he’s a reviewer of PC games so he’s telling his audience about the quality of the Port that PC players will play.
If you understand what a Port is you will understand it’s a more technical review about how it runs over regular reviews that talk about the game overall. A game can still be good but it can also suck on another platform if the Port didn’t work out.
A typical standard would basically be a straight port, it runs good but nothing extra.
A technical achievement is a game that goes above and beyond the typical.
I never played Hi-Fi Rush so I can’t say anything about it.
