Super facts, I was one of the few in my group of friends to pick up a phat 60gb PS3 back in 2006. It was the only time I had ever thought of picking up a xb360, by 2009 and ever since I never thought of picking up an xbox. Those two truly gave xbox a big push that lit a fire under PlayStation, but that's all memories now, xbox will soon be 100% 3rd party, the only thing that makes sense.
Third party titles that only ship on a single console have always been considered exclusives. We all remember Xbox guys going on about how Rise of the Tomb Raider is an Xbox exclusive, so I don't want to see the same people turn around now and say games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth doesn't count 'because it's third-party'. By this definition of what an exclusive is, games like Gears of War (developed by Epic Games) and Halo (developed by Bungie) are not Xbox exclusives. Obviously that makes no sense. So whether a game is third party or not is irrelevant, it's either available on multiple consoles, or it's not, which by definition makes it a console exclusive.
All of this has been worth it to see Colt Eastwood and his fellow phonies *throwing their toys around* ... *stamping their little feet in childish tantrums* ... in other words, *showing their true colors.*
Lets be honest. You can tell who has the best Exclusive games by who is continuing to argue. When I sat down and played God of war with my headphones on I couldn't think about anything else in the moment I was so ingrained in the story. A missile could've flew by my house and I wouldn't have noticed. Thats the sign of good games. And Playstation have had a lot of those experiences as of Late. Who knows what 2024 will behold but, Im sure Playstation is not slowing down with the Quality of Content they will bring their users. You can bet that.

Great explanation of the nuances between 1st, 2nd and especially 3rd parties. I do want to add that 2nd party games don't necessarily have to be owned IP by the publisher though Sony in particular would prefer that, Sony would've actually damn near immediately agreed to publish sunset overdrive if Insomniac didn't want to own the IP. Also I understand people want to know what several 1st party studios are currently working on (me included) but the fact is PlayStation regardless of what kind of party it is are giving players *exclusive* titles to play; the first 3 months being covered with more on the way. While I understand where someone like Jackmove is coming from to a certain extent (though the discourse when he criticizes PlayStation is admittedly entertaining) it seems the main issue for him (besides PC ports lol) is not knowing what's coming from most 1st party besides Insomniac, especially after the ransomware hack. Now I think we can all agree that the next showcase this year needs to have *at least* several 1st party reveals for games releasing within the next couple of years (2026-2027), soon as Sony (hopefully) does this there should be very little to no complaints about the rest of the gen in terms of knowing what to expect from studios. If Xbox truly feels services like GP are so successful, that they don’t cannibalise sales, which the ABK board members have said it does. Then Phil needs to grab his balls and put all of the Xbox/BGS/ABK studios on PlayStation Premium. If they are truly committed to this future then they have to continue.

This has become the norm for Xbox and what’s become apparent is that with MS claiming to release 4 exclusives in 2024 and if history is followed of those 4 one is good that’s not great at all. The issue is MS doesn’t have to fight for your money because as a subscriber to Gamepass they already get your money each month but if that money goes back to making subpar first party offerings then thats why mainstream consumers aren’t buying series S or X.

Why does it matter that Americans like PlayStation , PlayStation makes shit that appeals to Americans , Europeans and everywhere else , Japan is a much harder market to keep up in due to the culture of entertainment fads and the emphasis on mobile - a domain Nintendo has dominated for decades . But Sony still does pretty well , just not as well as Nintendo , which is perfectly fine. Nintendo is allowed to come first in Japan and Sonys sights are set more broadly. And both business models do well for either of them.
And that has nothing to do with Microsoft lol. Which is just stumbling with its Xbox division and only really held up by the rest of the company’s other divisions that Microsoft so far is willing to eat those losses cuz it’s made up for in other ways.

There won’t be an official announcement, but by 2027, all Xbox games will be day and date on PlayStation and Nintendo, and the Series consoles will be their last console, as the mid gen digital only refresh of theirs is cancelled.

I say this because the metric they had for keeping their investors happy for gamepass numbers were hoping that they'll get over 100 mil gampass subscribers. I don't think they ever move more than 10 mil honestly. And that will force them start earlier than anticipated.
Edit: MS is currently at 33.6 mil gampass subscribers for both Xbox and PC. The need over 100 mil for them to keep xbox said the investors. We are in 2024 so they have 3 years left. Honestly if they don't get to at least 50 mil this year those plans might change really drastically.
Nother Edit 😂: 11.7 mil out of those 33.6 is gold subscribers. Only 21.9 is gamepass subscribers (includes PC) not looking good honestly.

Great explanation of the nuances between 1st, 2nd and especially 3rd parties. I do want to add that 2nd party games don't necessarily have to be owned IP by the publisher though Sony in particular would prefer that, Sony would've actually damn near immediately agreed to publish sunset overdrive if Insomniac didn't want to own the IP. Also I understand people want to know what several 1st party studios are currently working on (me included) but the fact is PlayStation regardless of what kind of party it is are giving players *exclusive* titles to play; the first 3 months being covered with more on the way.
While I understand where someone like Jackmove is coming from to a certain extent (though the discourse when he criticizes PlayStation is admittedly entertaining) it seems the main issue for him (besides PC ports lol) is not knowing what's coming from most 1st party besides Insomniac, especially after the ransomware hack. Now I think we can all agree that the next showcase this year needs to have *at least* several 1st party reveals for games releasing within the next couple of years (2026-2027), soon as Sony (hopefully) does this there should be very little to no complaints about the rest of the gen in terms of knowing what to expect from studios. If you look at most of Xbox’s 1st party exclusives they are usually overhyped and under performing with games like starfield, Redfall, Halo infinite, and the latest disappointment is Forza in which the community has rejected the game and even Its two major Racing leagues have both decided to forgo hosting official events until they fix the games numerous bugs and glitches. This has become the norm for Xbox and what’s become apparent is that with MS claiming to release 4 exclusives in 2024 and if history is followed of those 4 one is good that’s not great at all. The issue is MS doesn’t have to fight for your money because as a subscriber to Gamepass they already get your money each month but if that money goes back to making subpar first party offerings then thats why mainstream consumers aren’t buying series S or X.
