    Save yourself 12 minutes:
    1. It was harder to find places to eat out.
    2. Cooking was harder.
    3. Dairy, eggs, and animal products are in a lot of food products.
    4. Lost a little weight.
    5. Felt proud after ordering a vegan option at a restaurant, even if it had a lot of sugar.
Few details or examples given, not much information.

YES: Most products dont need milk and never had milk a few decades ago. Than they had to sell all this trash side products anywhere and it turned out it was a cheap (BUT unhealthy) ingreedient.... Nearly all chips have milk. Whats doing milk in my bellpaper chips? or salt vinegar? or just salt...there has to be potatoe oil and salt in there NOT milk

I know right? I feel in general though everyone should read the label on their foods. I think among other things that is another helping thing that happened after turning vegan. You're more aware of what's in food.

I find it tricky because I eat with relatives, family, and friends. I think lots of food have dairy and eggs in it even if not required. They prefer meat meals, and I would prefer vegan. The compromise is a lacto-ovo vegetarian meal.

I've been vegan for about a year. I'm never hungry and have no issues making or finding food. I recently had to get blood drawn for a reason I won't get into. My results came back perfect. My calcium, protein, iron, and potassium levels are great. Which is what most people say vegans are low on. Don't let nutrition scare you! Being vegan is perfectly healthy.

I lot of these "problems" sounds like things that would be so easy if you were vegan for more than 30 days... Like not knowing where stuff is in the grocery store, cooking dinner and having to know whats inside what. It all becomes second nature, the longer you do it the easier it gets. I'm vegan for 2.5 years and i dont have to put my mind to anything its all second nature.

When I “challenged” myself to “try” being vegan... I thought it was pretty difficult and suffered through terrible meals. I tried veganism (years before becoming a vegan) for about 30 days and I swore I could never... I didn’t have the right energy around me to do better for myself.
When I woke up and became vegan (opposed to “trying” it) as a life choice with zero excuses... it was easy-peasy.
There’s always a way to not eat meat / eggs / etc... Planning will be required in the beginning, but after the first couple of weeks I felt... it’s only as big of an inconvenience as you make it.
Food is tastier than ever and I’d rather eat my go-to vegan foods over any chefs cooking any day.

Strange, for me, it's not hard being vegan. I made the change quite easily. The problem is that most don't understand the diet, and that definitely is a problem. As veganism grows and expands, it will likely be easier for people to find vegan food and to find others who can help.. I was a meat-eater for decades. Changed and have never looked back..

    • @bradleysmith681

Negan Not really.. A good vegan diet gives me all I need. The problem is that most are not following a true vegan diet. A vegan diet is healthy and tasty.. And my B12 levels are fine.. But even if someone claims that they need to take B12, so what? Many people on a traditional diet are now taking many supplements each day already.

      @@samayasarjain4559 Hi there,
I, personally, would recommend to opt out of consuming animal products (protein) as animal protein is the cause of nearly all diseases, from gathered information e.g mad cow disease and tuberculosis, that are on the rise. Cows milk, for instance, is for calves and not mankind. Furthermore, fish like wild salmon and tuna ought to be avoided due to radiation in the seas (mercury affecting tuna too). Farmed fish too should be avoided as they may lack nutrients e.g farmed salmon may lack Omega 3 Fatty Acids obtained from algae by wild salmon in the seas.
I do encourage to adopt (even if it means making small changes here and there) a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please take some steamed carrots, plant them and see if they will grow; if not, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot benefit one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains as it is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity. I do not even see a reason to use pharmaceutical supplements e.g Vitamin D is obtainable from organic chestnut mushrooms (UV exposed) and sun-dried mushrooms with the exception of the body's ability to make it (and store it for future use) when exposed to the sun; Iron from organic beets; Zinc from organic cashew nuts; potassium and magnesium from organic bananas; Omega 3 Fatty Acids (beneficial for the brain) from organic walnuts and pecans (looks like the brain and targets it).
Please avoid factory produced meat alternatives whose chief ingredient can be 'soy' and may contain preservatives as well as additives (e.g Vinegar, a corrosive agent). Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes

      Hi there,
I have been moved to make you aware of the dangerous path many take leading to disease and early graves before you do get there too. I encourage being a sceptic and look things up for yourself, and you will find out that the diet i have shared with you is actually for your own good e.g processed meats are classified as carcinogenic to humans in Group 1, which is as bad as it can get, where as organic plant foods are classified as anti-cancer foods, thus applying the concept of moderation is not wise.
I cannot continue any further to try and persuade you as i am for a 'free will'. If you end up being diseased, please do not blame it on GOD as others do when they violate the laws of health, which are just like the law of gravity (to every cause, there is an effect).

I live in New York so if there ever are days where I want to eat out I'm always 20 minutes away from vegan burger spots, latin vegan food or even vegan diners. I do run into challenges when I'm out with my friends because they want to go to more typical places like Applebees or Fridays but I try to my best to make it work by either grabbing food somewhere else nearby or eating beforehand if the places we go don't have any real vegan options. Kudos for doing the Veganuary challenge!

Maria Stoycheva I think it’s more unhealthy for a seven year old to have meat and dairy. As you are more likely to get cancer and high cholesterol. Plus meat are pumped with many antibiotics due to the many diseases they get from the dire conditions they are in. Which ofc can then lead to antibiotic resistance in humans which isn’t healthy. Manycows get infections to the overproduce of milk. Which can lead to swelling and then puss and milk is produced in the milk which we drink which is unhealthy. Which is definitely not all filtered out.

theres nothing political about not wanting animals to suffer. And religion is based on sheep-like behaviour. every vegan ive seen did a conscious choice. It seems like the meat-eaters that blindly say 'NO I DONT WANNA BE VEGAN UR CRAzy' are the religious ones .

      And on religion let's see:
Pious holier than thou attitudes -check
Rigid set of rules that absolutely must not be compromised - check
Won't shut up about it and think they have to make sure everyone knows their viewpoint - check
      Proselytizing - check
Religious level of fervor - check

Environmentally, eggs for example are not as bad...but yeah, vegans are vegan for ethical reasons, which you didn't mention at all. Surprised me a bit. Tracy Zidon, the dairy and the veal(baby cow meat) industies are the same industry. Chicken eggs that hatch are separated by gender and almost all male chicks get killed on their first day of life. Animals that do get to live are exploited for their secretions, untill their production drops, then they get a knife to their throat, they don't even reach the half of their natural lifespan, they are literally being worked to death. Vegans are not just vegan, because animal agriculture is a cancer on our planet, we also are vegan, because animals are being holocausted and as a vegetarian you still contributed a tremendous amount of pain and suffering to animals. Going vegan and telling your friends and family not to torture and murder animals for fun, is not asking a lot at all, considering what the resistance fighters in WW2 did to end the jewish holocaust.

I went vegetarian when I was five years old (living in a German extremely meat heavy family-- having tons of meat for every single meal) and when I told my mum at 15 that I wanted to go vegan she wouldn't allow it. I went on a hunger strike for three days (ya know dramatic teenager) and after that I just went vegan cold turkey. At the beginning it was the hardest thing ever. I would come to school unprepared, starving at the end of the day and the teacher giving cookies to the rest of the class- had me crying by the end of one week. There was no way for me to continue supporting the cruelty in eggs and dairy so I did my part on a lot of research. And honestly this is really what I wanna advise you, DO AS MUCH RESEARCH AS YOU CAN!! and I don't mean research about the animals, but rather research all the vegan diets, try stuff out, look at all the recipes and look at the health aspects!!! This helped me soooo much!! I found out that the most random things- I had assumed weren't vegan-- actually were (German pretzels, specific store bought apple cakes, mustard (shocking), and a lot of candy!!). Indeed it is very difficult at times especially at family dinners, going to e.g a steakhouse, but honestly I've never not had anything to eat. Even if I just put together my own meal of steamed veggies, salads, loads of other sides and fries, I always have survived in the most meat-heavy places without making it awkward. Now, two and a half years after going vegan, it has become THE most effortless thing ever. I know what meals to make, super super fast, extremely delicious meals, I am at my best health and I've lost all the clinical acne I used to suffer from and I could never imagine not eating this way. As hard as it was for a cheese lover like me to give up cheese, I honestly just love eating what is good for me, the animals and the environment even more (and also do not miss it at all).
Im so happy to see you go on this journey, and it is so great that you're reducing the harm you're supporting!! loved the video, much love and good luck in your future

Eating out: almost every place can make a salad. My life doesn't revolve around food so a salad is not a punishment.
Cooking: Not a big deal. Unless you have no idea cook. Rice, beans, salsa, pico de gallo, spices...all vegan. It's not at all harder to make vegan meals.
Animal industry is subsidized. I mean, milk commercials, anyone? Beef commercials? So it's not surprising that they find their way into everything.
I do feel better, emotionally and physically being vegan.
It's not a marginal difference. The dairy industry IS the meat industry. A dairy cow lived on average 4 years, babies are used as veal or beef. Average NATURAL lifespan of a cow is 24 years.
    Meatless Mondays are so doable.

Another thing people dont understand about veganism is that the more vegans there are the easier veganism gets. Everyone always makes the comment of "i wish veganism was more convenient" but it'll only get more convenient with the increasing amount of vegans. Be the change, supply and demand. If youre vegan and demanding vegan options with time more vegan options will come but if you just stick to your old trashy diet and sit around waiting for everyone else to go vegan and make it more convenient itll take that much longer.

I'd just like to point out that there's quite a myth going around about vegans needing to be extra careful when it comes to choosing the right ingredients or combining the right foods in order to keep a nutritious diet, compared with people who eat meat, or at least eggs and dairy. Those people just think because they eat a bunch of stuff their diet is great, but it's pretty common to fall short in nutrients like fatty acids, iron, calcium, vitamins C, D and B12, precisely because they're not eating properly either. They just don't question themselves and they don't know about it. Also, making the time to cook your own meals with fresh ingredients is a great thing to do, even if you're a meat eater. Fast food and snack (even vegan snacks) is something we should all learn to stay away from. By the way I'm not a vegan, I just dropped junk food and red meat for the time being.

    • @Henkz85
      @Henkz85 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

I haven't even cared about nutrition. I just look up recipes for what I want to eat the coming week and buy that stuff. I don't even list the meals in any order, just have the list on the fridge and decide for each day what it'll be. When there's about 1-2 meals left on the list it's time to make a new one. I don't know if I get every nutrition but I'm 100% sure that I eat healthier today than when I was a meat eater. I've realized after the change how monotonous my eating habits was. Seriously, every meal was always something like meat with potatoes, rise or pasta, and a carrot or tomato or MAYBE a salad.

    • @Henkz85
      @Henkz85 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I should probably add that I'm not a full vegan. So far I've just removed meat from my diet. I will probably look into removing dairy soon. So it's pretty easy to get away with that I don't need to care about nutrition. I know I'll have to look into this more as I go. But my main point was that you don't need to care much to get into it. Just follow recipes and it still probably will be better than your previous diet.

I took powdered k2 with d3 in order for calcium to go to bones not arteries I kept my homocystein low by taking b12 omega 3 epa dha . I lost jaw bone got a loose tooth my hair became thin I now eat whole foods including organic meats eggs dairy I feel much better no more cravings tooth is stable hairs back and i truly believe as a fitness instructor 26 yr runner and holistic therapist that a full balanced diet high in plants with animal protein is the best way. And i nearly died. The problem is a lot of vegans who don't suit it don't know until it's too late. If it works your lucky but it didn't work for me and a lot of others need to be mindful when dismissing entire food groups. It's dangerous.

If someone is trying to reduce their ecological footprint, lessen their contribution to animal cruelty, or improve their health, we should be rooting for them, not judging them for not being perfect. Surely it would have a much bigger impact if ten people cut down on their meat consumption than if one person went 100% plant based. Also, it's not like veganism is the end of the spectrum - similarly you could criticize many vegans for driving cars, buying plastic products, smoking, not being freegans, not only buying local produce etc.
Live and let live and try and do something meaningful while you're at it.

Reading labels should be a part of everyone's routine if they're looking for healthy options. I'm not vegan or even vegetarian, but having health issues caused by additives has the same "turn the box/jar/bag over" effect. Cooking does take time - I have no hobbies and rarely go on youtube etc. because every single day involves cooking something complicated. If I could cook just for me though, I have so many easy recipes that are vegan. Meat - that's what takes time. Shopping, however, takes so much longer when you're cooking healthy and especially when you want fresh produce - at least for me in the Midwest 3 seasons out of the year.

I agree, I went vegan for 2 weeks, now I am mor3 vegetarian than vegan for now. Cooking vegan was not more time consuming than cooking not vegan, it just takes times to find the recipes if ypur family did not raise you vegan. Of course we cook our own pasta sauce and bake bread and so on so if you buy jar of pasta sauce cooking vegan must be long for you. I have a lot of allergies and that's why vegetarian is a better option for me now. I also read labels for years now, all the stuff they add to the food is scary. Yesterday I saw older man reading ice cream labels in the store and it made me smile, world is changing, people are more aware what they put in their bodies.

I occasionally go out to dinner with my animal torturing friends. Yes, I have to have extended discussions with the servers and chefs about what is in the stuff (food?) they are preparing. Sometimes there are sighs and disguntlings among the carnist crew at the table. I am like look, morons, you should care what is going into what you are about to put into your body too. This is not a vegan thing, this is a sensible, intelligent human being thing.

Pamela Prizant Thanks for sharing your story. People need to know about how much diet could change your health and life overall. I have a Family member who is in hospice right now, I strongly believe if she changed her eating and exercise habits years ago she would not be where she is right now. It seriously breaks my heart. She was told for YEARS to change her habits but I guess she couldn't stop. Since I've become vegan I have a lot more energy, I use to be so tired all the time. Sure, part of it was because I wasn't getting enough sleep due to insomnia but I sleep a lot better now too. Having more energy allows me to be more productive which in turn allows me to get a good night's rest.

I’ve been vegan for about 8 months and a lot of the problems that people have fade away after 2-3 months. Like cooking, figuring out how to eat out places, they get way easier. My kitchen isn’t super stocked, the hard part is learning how to make ‘whole’ meals again. Some things do take longer to make but I find it easier, quicker and more fun to make food now. I do have some bad days though where I ‘cheat’ because of being unprepared for eating at friends places, but that’s about it. And of course animal products are in so many things. The tubes of garlic in the veggie section has milk in it! Like ???. But once you get in the habit of it it becomes way easier in those aspects. But to stay vegan you definitely need to educate yourself on the affects of animal products (on you and the environment) and animal cruelty. Otherwise lack of willpower will really get the best of you. It’s good to see a video that’s so open minded 💖😌

Hi, I'm glad you tried the diet! I was a vegetarian for almost 3 years before I became Vegan just three years ago and I felt almost exactly the same way. Eventually, I realized that eating out wasn't a problem because if you deconstruct a menu enough you *will* find a vegan option, at least in my experience. Though I had the opportunity of learning by being employed by several different restaurants throughout my work life, I found that all of the restaurants in the area I live has at least one thing I can eat.
For example, I currently work at a Mcdonalds (glamorous, I know) and they have a function on the register called the ALA Carte where you can basically just order ingredients. A Tomato is 11 cents and there's a ton of shit to ring up on there, we also have guacamole that I sometimes get for my fries (yum). The fries are not cooked in the same grease as the meat because of food safety rules and regulations, the same can be said about the hash browns.
At waffle house, the hash browns are my favorite. We don't cook them with butter, we use soybean oil, 100% vegan too, I checked the box.
Little Caesar's crazy bread, it doesn't have milk in it it's just flour, water, sugar, salt, and yeast. ask for it without parmesan and add Italian seasoning, it's pretty good.
    Subway is a little obvious.
Mellow Mushroom has an entire vegan menu, and a veggie pizza with no cheese add spinach is a pretty good option for Pizza Hut.
Ruby Tuesday's got an endless salad bar to die for. Taco Bell is literally heaven for vegans, if you can believe it, they have a whole vegetarian menu, just make sure you don't get any cheese or sour cream.
I could go on, but these are just a few that I *know.* My point is that, quite often I never have a problem eating out with family, friends, or coworkers, even though I am Vegan. You just have to look, most places will have something for you.

I don't normally leave comments (ghost watcher - hi there) but I figured here's a good video to share my experience on. My close friend has been vegetarian all her life and has recently gone vegan. My brother is also vegan, for the most part. So I decided to become vegetarian because I eat a mostly vegetarian diet anyway (and of course for other reasons such as health, environment, etc.) and I've got to say I've really been enjoying it. I feel much healthier and "lighter" because I'm more conscious about what I'm putting into my body and how much I'm spending on food. I've only been vegetarian since the holidays, but I'm hoping by next year I can transition to veganism. Like you, I'm mostly vegetarian but will be vegan when I can (I don't buy dairy products and will get the vegan option when eating out). Sorry this is so long - thanks for the video! I'd love to see more lifestyle challenge videos. Minimalism or zero waste for 30 days, maybe?

    • @ErykaSoleil
      @ErykaSoleil 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

That would depend heavily on where you're eating, what kind of food they serve, and whether you're asking for the special dairy-free version to be made during breakfast/lunch/dinner rush. You can ask for a salad with no cheese or Ranch, for example, but I don't think you could pop into a rural diner and ask them to make you dairy-free biscuits. I also doubt most restaurants would have dairy-free cheesecake or chocolate lava cake options available. You can find dairy-free items on the menu, and/or ask if something contains dairy ingredients if you aren't sure, but asking them to make you a dairy-free version of some dishes just isn't very realistic.

Vegan food is SUPER simple and quick to make if you aren't trying to replicate non-vegan dishes.
You can cook rice and steam vegetables at the same time in a rice cooker, roast potatoes and veggies in the oven, or even buy bags of frozen veggies/rice that you can throw in the microwave. You can also cook beans, lentils, soups, stews, curries, stir-fries, pasta, etc. in a single pot on the stove. You can also keep it raw with huge salads, fruit bowls, smoothies, etc.

You definitely need to approach a vegan diet with an educated well thought-out plan. One of the biggest mistakes people make is not eating enough calories. Plant foods are the least calorically dense of all foods. You could focus on consuming lots of plant protein (beans, lentils, tofu, protein powder, etc.), starchy carbs (potatoes, rice, etc,) and healthy fats (avocado, nut butters, nuts, seeds, etc.).
I am not a nutritionist or health professional. Please proceed with caution and common sense. You could speak to your physician, but many of them do not support vegan diets. You can always try following a vegan diet for a short period of time, or slowly cut out animal products, and see how your body responds.

  • @jupiterwoman7265

Did you know that when you consume dairy you're directly supporting the meat industry as well? Male baby cows have no use to the dairy industry so they get sent off to get killed for veal within the first 2-6 weeks of being born. When you buy cheese or dairy milk it supports that, so is it really vegetarian? I suggest you do some research on where and how your food is produced before you decide on going back to you past diet. Dairy is Scary by Erin Janus on TH-cam is a good quick start. If you're really brave, watch Earthlings also available on TH-cam. Good luck!

I wish people would be less policing in the comments. As an ethical vegan, I support every marginal reduction in consumption of animal products, and it sounds like Katherine has decided to make not just that but a MAJOR reduction. Besides, lots of people start out as "most-of-the-time" vegans and become "all-the-time" vegans once it's second nature. *I applaud you Katherine.* Ethical vegans (a lot of people in the comments probably NEW ethical vegans) are just emotionally charged because LITERALLY NO ONE they know cares about the egregious suffering that goes on everywhere and gives them so much pain to know exists, without the ability to do anything about it other than eat vegan. So, they try to convince other people. Please understand that they speak from pain, and at heart you are helping alleviate this by not eating animal products, for WHATEVER reason! Every vegan meal you eat is a victory against the animal industry, and I cannot thank you enough for that. And thank you for being so respectful towards vegans with this video :)

Me and my family went whole food, plant based Nov 2017. Which is a vegan diet. We really did not find it hard at all. We lived in Houston at the time and shopping was easy. We moved to Montana this month and have not had problems here either. In a town of 10,000 just 30 minutes from us is an organic grocery store, as well as in most of the towns that size or larger. I think the Vegan movement because of its political connotations turns off a lot of people. We did it for our health, and as more people get sick and seek to get well, they find the truth about nutrition, which is a whole food plant based diet leads to a healthy body. Even vegetarians like yourself find out how much better they feel. As the health and healing of plant based nutrition grows so will the availability of the food, the demand grows, then the supply grows. We did not really find any of the struggles you did, in Texas or Montana (beef capitals of the country). I have yet to find a menu even at a steak house that I cannot put together something "vegan" sure sometimes it is a really large salad with vinegar and oil for dressing but it works and I am not putting my friends out. I would encourage you while you are young to cut out all the animal products in your life, your older self will thank you a 100 fold!

But how could we ever find out exactly how many, I dont understand why people are vegan though tbh I know its horrible to think of animals being killed but its less harsh then being eaten alive in the way it happens in nature , I cant wrap my head around how vegans understand and accept animals in wild eating others alive but dont accept human animals killing them in a way less harsh way , Also alot of vegans seem to own cats and buy cat food so they are supporting the meat industry , These things make me wonder why people do it , whats the goal with it? Do they want the world vegan then would they throw theyre cat out and make it homeless lol

I actually watched documentaries that tell you the truth about veganism and the environment and is more than just the food! Is 24/7 of what you use, wear, eat etc. And veganism actually opened my eyes and i considered it as our normal lifestyle because if the whole world tries our normal lifestyle, then the world and everyone in this planet wouldn't be struggling at all (health environment etc) and if you take it seriously and stay honest to your heart and know that veganism is the right thing to do. I say go for it!🙌we love you, the environment and everything else will thank you! If vegans can do it, than why can't you. so that's good that you liked it definitely learn more about it and hopefully you make your decision 😍🙏🙏(btw it is possible to go vegan overnight👍i did it💙)

I don't know about owning our own farms - Many people don't have a fraction of the space, but everyone can grow their own vegetables or herbs, easily. Everyone could at least grow their own window box herbs. :-) Tomatoes will happily grow any there's anywhere there's enough sunlight so long as they get lots of water.

I am whole food plant based meaning that I don’t buy fake meat. Basically I buy normal produce like veggies, grains etc. Faux food are for people who grew up with those types of food and want comfort food. So they want burgers and they get impossible burger or other alternatives. To me they are expensive and not worth it, also because I already love to cook and most of the recipes I cook are recipes I learned from my mother.

With respect, the research you did was incorrect concerning dairy and eggs and the environment. "A dairy farm with 2,500 dairy cows creates as much waste a city with 411,000 people". The dairy industry is the meat industry. They are one in the same. Therefore vegetarian and vegan are not the same in regards to environmental degradation.

Dude..I'm sure you mean well, but your numbers don't add up at all. Check the source and recalculate. A city with 411,000 people, and one to three cars per family, an overheated or over air conditioned home, with a dozen lights on, huge tvs and several computers, almost everything they touch made of plastic and therefore petro-chemicals, with huge rubbish bins of packaging weekly, with most consumer goods made in China and therefore transported by container vessel literally around the globe, family pets, and fossil fuels for both transport and electricity, there is no way that is the same as 2,500 cows farting methane and exhaling carbon dioxide. Just no way.

All wonderful new vegan issues, but as a 10 year vegan in the midwest, I can say that with practice that nearly all of her issues would either fade away or become second nature so you don't really have to think about it nearly as much. Oh, and croutons have milk because nearly all bread is made with milk. Plus cheese ends up in a lot of things even things like Italian dressing. I went to buy a premade pizza crust, which is not normally a type of bread made with milk, but had to put it back because they "helpfully" already put cheese in it.
As for environmental impact of milk and eggs, yes it is much less than meat, but still the amount of water and food that goes in and the amount of manure that comes out for each gallon of milk is still unsustainable for everybody on the planet to be able to consume.
But my major objection to milk and eggs is the health impacts and the incredible animal cruelty involved. For milk, milk = veal. It is that simple. Half of all calves are male and so no use to a dairy farmer. Those males are either "crated" (a euphemism for stuffing this little scared baby into a dark box and feeding it an iron poor formula so that its flesh stays that nice pale color) and then slaughtered at a couple of months old, or just killed immediately and its body thrown on top of the rot pile of other dead babies whose life is worth so little that it isn't even worth keeping them alive for even a few months. And life isn't any better for the girls, just a little longer and a lot more hellish before they have been so worn out by constant pregnancies and having been bred to produce 5-8 times as much milk as non-dairy cows produce that after just 4 years of their natural 20-25 year lifespan they can't produce as much milk as one of her daughters. So her reward for those years of torment is a steel bolt to the brain and then ground up to make fast food burgers.
For eggs it is just as bad. Like with cattle, half of all chicks are born male. Of course only the girls lay eggs and the boys don't grow fast enough to raise them for meat, so this are all just killed on the day they are born. They are either just stuffed into big trash bags and allowed to suffocate or be crushed to death if they wind up on the bottom of the bag, or they are feed alive and fully conscious into big meat grinders and turned into a gruesome paste. The girls chicks like the girl calves have the worse end of the stick. First the most sensitive part of a chicken's body is her beak, especially the tip. It is what she uses to find food. Unfortunately it is also what she pecks other birds with to establish a "pecking order". In nature those lower on the pecking order have to physically move away from the dominant bird to avoid being pecked again. Sadly the lower bird can't because she is stuffed along with 4-5 other birds into a cage the size of a file cabinet drawer. And so the dominant bird keeps pecking and pecking and the other join in as well and eventually the lowest bird in the cage is dead. To "fix" this problem the egg farmer just takes a hot wire and cuts the tip of all of the newborn girl chicks beaks off. No painkillers of course, since that would cost a lot of money and time. The shock and pain is so bad that a significant portion of the chicks just die immediately or starve to death because eating is so painful they can't do it. And like cows, laying hens have been breed to be egg machines cranking out egg after egg day after day until after a year or year and half of her 10+ year lifespan her body is used up and she is killed. Some are ground up for human or animal food. But often nobody want to eat her tough meat, so she is just "composted".
So even if you don't think the environmental difference is enough to make it worth the bother to cut out dairy and eggs, perhaps do it for animals that are suffer just as much or more than any animal raised just for its flesh.

You don't have to dictate where you go out to eat. You really have a lot to learn still. So instead of saying it's so hard socially you should try to learn from others and do more research .You can customize a vegan meal by looking at the sides on the menu. Beans, rice, French Fries, ect. Whatever looks vegan. If a meal is mostly vegan but has a nonvegan ingredient swap it out for something else. Use olive oil and salt instead of butter, you can use coconut oil and salt if it's available. Do your best but accept that you may fall short sometimes and that's okay. The point is to do as much as practical and possible as you possibly can. When you truly become a vegan and you learn about how much suffering and destruction is involved you're likely to want to continue your journey. 30 days honestly is not enough time to adjust.

Not a farmer, but technically, don't dairy farmers usually deal with the cows and the farms, and the food producers are the ones who put dairy in everything? I'm pretty sure farming organizations aren't adding any slots on the agenda for "How can WE get dairy in more food?" But I can see a food-producing marketer saying, "If you at a gallon of milk to that, we can say, "now with added calcium'." We don't need to witch-hunt dairy farmers, because our highly processed foods have butter in them. Why do they use butter? It makes EVeRYTHING taste better. And there is nothing morally wrong with butter making things taste good, it's how that product interacts with your ingredients. Kudos for trying it!
