And yeah the solos are not easy (I teach guitar). Marty (the lead guitarist) uses a lot of unconventional scales and fingerings and has a style of bending notes that mimics eastern style stringed instruments but is incredibly difficult to emulate on guitar. I think it’s pretty important to understand that this album was probably the most amount of musicianship that we have ever seen in a commercially mainstream context (I know fans will hate me saying that megadeth is mainstream) but this shit was being blasted at highschools all over America. And in a way the musicianship doesn’t matter. The musicianship is just a means to an ends for writing insane borderline “laser guided” music. You can’t be a bad musician and try to play this. You need to be a human metronome. And yeah five magics is on another level. You can’t compare it to any other metal song yet it is iconoclastic

Great great memories for me. I wasn’t really into hard metal yet and I was in college. A neighbor/friend worked for the campus radio station so he would get free CD’s here and there to play on the radio station. He gave this album to me and told me I HAD to listen to it. Blew my mind. From there I got into Metallica, Pantera, etc…. Stands the rest of time also
My first experience with Megadeth was when I was a kid and Dave played himself in an episode of Duck Dodgers, fighting off a Martian invasion with the power of metal 🤘🏻😤🤘🏻
This album is as close to perfect as you can get with thrash metal imo. Listening to it for the first time ~5 years ago was pretty mind blowing. I listened to Holy Wars and Tornado before hearing the rest of the album, and listened to it in it's entirety a few years later. I was surprised how much I liked the other songs on the album and now I prefer Take no Prisoners, Poison was the Cure, Five Magics, and Lucretia (which has one of the best guitar solos ever imo) to the more popular songs. I kinda made a conscious decision to become a metal head at some point in high school and didn't start listening to whole albums for a while after that, so I was sleeping on most of this album for a while. There's just so much good metal to listen to haha Btw Megadeth is part of the "Big Four" of thrash metal along with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. Idk if you're familiar with Metallica's discography, but if you're planning on reacting to it that'd be dope. Master of Puppets is such a good album. Looking forward to more metal album reacts. Enjoying them a lot
I always have tears in my eyes while listening to the final section of rust in peace... polaris. That riff is the best ever written in metal-history. The energy always blows me away. How can you close the best metal album of all time better than with this killer-song!?
One of my sisters friends convinced me to buy Rust In Piece shortly after it was released. She could see that I was a little intimidated but reassured me that was awesome. First time I heard the opening track I was blown away. Over time it became one of my favorite albums. Years later in 2010 I was fortunate enough to see Megadeth perform Rust In Peace in it’s entirety on the American Carnage tour, seeing that live really took me back!!!
It was a pleasure to rediscover this amazing album with you! Still to this day, it slaps me in the face as hard as the first time (though I admit it took time for me to adjust to Mustaine's singing). Beautiful communicative smile et nice moves: we should name them ^^
Been listening to metal 30+ years now since I was a kid and there is definitely no metal album that can touch Rust In Peace. Many have come close but none capture the sheer talent of Mustaine and Megadeth in their prime.
@@salvatorelanni5126 top 5 in no particular order: Death - Human Sepultura - Arise Symphony X - V The New Mythology Dissection - Storm of the Lights Bane And of course Rust in Peace These are all definitely in my must listen to metal albums.
My first introduction to Megadeth is this album in 7th grade. Early 90’s. I had just started playing guitar. A year into playing I was able to play the entire album, all guitar parts and solos. To this day, Rust in Peace is hands down my favorite Megadeth album. My favorite solo off the album is Marty Friedman’s solo in Tornado of souls. Marty Friedman is an underrated guitarist but definitely one of my favorites.
As a guitarist of about 15 years, yes the solo for Tornado of Souls is very hard to play, but not quite in the way I think people who don't play guitar think. It is HELLA fun to play though, and you never get tired of trying it out, even if you are far from perfect at playing it
Te fuiste a lo top de lo top, de aqui para abajo con cualquier otro album. Me gusta como mueves tus manitas al ritmo de la musica, todos lo hacemos. Cheers.
Good choice. Many will probably agree that this is the best Thrash metal album period. This is also the best Megadeth lineup and they are at the peak of thier powers here
My first concert ever was in 1990 with Testament (another band you might enjoy) and Megadeth opening for Judas Priest at Hara Arena in Dayton, OH (location of Hangar 18 at Wright Patt Air Force Base). Soooo good. Saw them a few other times in the early 90s before I became a dad and money got tight, but later I got to see them again when they were touring again in 2010 for the 20th anniversary of this album where they played the album in its entirety. Sounded just as great 20 years later. After playing the entire album in 2010, they did a reprise at the end of the show of ...The Punishment Due. It's the best part of this great album, so going back to that part along with all the guitar solos was just glorious. A couple of things: 1. You listened to the original vocal recordings, not remasters (frankly the remastered versions suck). 2. When they played Dawn Patrol in 2010, they did indeed leave the stage so the bassist and drummer had the stage, but the vocals were recordings, not sung off stage. I'm sure he's done them live before though.
This was the very first CD I ever bought with my own money. Saw the video for Hanger 18 on Headbanger’s Ball and I was hooked. When I saw Vic on the cover I had to have it. I’ve seen Megadeth live twice since then ( 92’ with Suicidal Tendencies and in ‘93 opening for Aerosmith) Still one of my favorites 30 years later.
I was watching a program about the different states of America and the host traveled to area 51 and encountered a fence blocking the road. He and a guide got out to talk and look at the sign. In the distance, a black SUV pulled up on a hill and watched them. They got back in their car and drove back to Las Vegas. It was also mentioned planes regularly fly that way from Vegas and back. Every time it enters Area 51 it disappears from the radar. Creepy.
But they where already the biggest thrash band in 1984-1986 and back then nobody that wasnt into thrash cared or even heard about Metallica. They where very respected in the thrash scene in the 80s. And the first thrash band to enter Billboard ”top 30” in 1986. This didn’t happen because of any ”mainstream” fans.
@nykterion7 they are easier. By a long shot. Just get used to his tendency. Chromatic scales, then 17-15-12 on E then B, then chromatic to pentatonic down that same section of the fretboard
@@slayer91340 yes but the accuracy in such speed is not easy at all, not for me at least.. I play some of Friedman’s solos and yes, they are something else but Mustaine’s are not that easier, not to me at least

Saw this album live when it came out. The opening band was Testament and then Megadeth..... then Judas Priest during the painkiller tour.
Dave and the fellas destroyed. Marty was unreal. Rust in Peace is simply immense.
Edit> yeah tornado of souls solo is a mfkr. I play guitar..... it's legit work
That was my first big arena show in the Bay Area! 🤘❤
One of the best albums ever written. Epic.
I was 15 (I think) when this album came out - honestly, it blew us all away! Still hard to beat this album for sheer musicality ❤️ loved your reaction to this album and I really like how you explore the background to the songs as well as the lyrics 👍☺️
Even Dave said that they cannot beat this album, masterpiece
Great reaction. Seen them live 13 times. My favorite band.
Thank you!!! 🙏🏻 I loved this album and I'm so jealous you've seen them live!! What a show those must've been. Definitely been playing this a hell pf a lot since this video. Take no prisoners has been stuck in my head for days. 🤣
@@imaKaiya there's the RUST IN PEACE live dvd here on YT. they play the whole album live.
greetings from New Zealand, great watching you fall in love, be emotive at the same music sections as we did as teenagers, Iron Maiden or Modern Opeth, it's awesome.
The Big 4 ... love to recommend some ANTHRAX songs for that upcoming video. think you'd dig the singers, speed, sounds and lyrics.
They weren't wearing shirts in this vid simply because it was incredibly hot inside where they were shooting.
Any 'deth fan worth their salt knows this fact 😁
Well they look super hot doing it 🤣 thanks for the tip and for watching! I really appreciate it 🙏🏻
I’m sure the 8 lbs of cocaine didn’t help
I’ve seen Megadeth 4 times live they’re awesome best thrash band ever…
Marty Friedman is a legend man. Megadeth are from one my favourite bands but the solo from Tornado of Souls is one of the greatest of all time.
Every song on this is a masterpiece hands down
If you look at the skull, {known as Vic Rattlehead) you'll notice the classic Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil trope.
First experience with this album was amazing. Kinda took me to the next level of rock/metal back then. Great memories ❤
Stands the rest of time also
The "Tornado of Souls" solo is inhuman.
"Switch between my Johnny Cash and my metal"
A Boy Named Sue... The Punishment Due
My first experience with Megadeth was when I was a kid and Dave played himself in an episode of Duck Dodgers, fighting off a Martian invasion with the power of metal
🤘🏻😤🤘🏻
There's just so much good metal to listen to haha
Btw Megadeth is part of the "Big Four" of thrash metal along with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. Idk if you're familiar with Metallica's discography, but if you're planning on reacting to it that'd be dope. Master of Puppets is such a good album.
Looking forward to more metal album reacts. Enjoying them a lot
holy wars with one of the best and more aggressive riff intro of all time
Thanks for listening to the original instead of remaster. So much better sound in my opinion.
Unfortunately the drummer had passed away I met him before nicest guy ever
Beautiful communicative smile et nice moves: we should name them ^^
I love watching younger generations discover the big four. So thanks
Peace sell is my favorite.... wake up dead, the conjuring, my last words, all classic.
Great reaction! Now should react to what some believe is better than this album. And that is "Peace Sells"
Been listening to metal 30+ years now since I was a kid and there is definitely no metal album that can touch Rust In Peace. Many have come close but none capture the sheer talent of Mustaine and Megadeth in their prime.
What are the one's,that come close.
@@salvatorelanni5126 top 5 in no particular order:
Death - Human
Sepultura - Arise
Symphony X - V The New Mythology
Dissection - Storm of the Lights Bane
And of course Rust in Peace
These are all definitely in my must listen to metal albums.
Absolutely huge fan of Human and Arise, something similar to Human, and from Florida,is Embalmed Existence by Resurrection,I love it,great solos too.
Dave was high as fuk, played Belfast and riped the Irish flag up on stage,I was there.... witnessed it!
DAVE MUSTAINE IS GOD.
I'm in the process of learning the solo from Tornado of Souls- getting fairly close to having it.
I can verify, there's some messed up shit going on 😂
Yaaaasss!! Congrats! Im proud of you lol ❤❤❤ thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@imaKaiya Thanks, was a good time 👍🏻
The final shit. Pretty much sums it up. Not much can compare to this masterful songwriting and execution.
"that solo spunds hard as shit to play" great lmao
As a guitarist of about 15 years, yes the solo for Tornado of Souls is very hard to play, but not quite in the way I think people who don't play guitar think. It is HELLA fun to play though, and you never get tired of trying it out, even if you are far from perfect at playing it
Te fuiste a lo top de lo top, de aqui para abajo con cualquier otro album.
Me gusta como mueves tus manitas al ritmo de la musica, todos lo hacemos. Cheers.
I love your reaction, the best that I saw. This is my Favorite album of all time, the first time that I heard RIP was like auditory orgasm for me.
I played this probably everyday for a year, when this first came out.
Normally we don't pause or clip in the middle of a solo
This was the very first CD I ever bought with my own money. Saw the video for Hanger 18 on Headbanger’s Ball and I was hooked. When I saw Vic on the cover I had to have it. I’ve seen Megadeth live twice since then ( 92’ with Suicidal Tendencies and in ‘93 opening for Aerosmith) Still one of my favorites 30 years later.
thank you for listening to this masterpiece
Tornado of Souls is arguably the best solo in metal. Glad u noticed it.
If there is a better metal album , I haven’t heard it !
your reactions are awesome
saw them on the blackmail the universe tour, they where EPIC!!
Creepy.
This album came out in the 90s
Megadeth is the godfather of the big 4.
Rust In Peace is in my top 3 metal albums of all time.
Actually Metallica
@@austinbramer558 no. Metallica is more respected as a whole in the metal and rock scene; but in thrash everyone knows Megadeth is better.
Yes..... Marty Friedman's solos are hard to play.....but damn, they are beautiful
I get what you’re saying but you think Mustaine’s are easier to play? No, they’re not.
Never edit out part of the best solo of all time.
I think it was because of copyright
Big fan of the 'stopping the song every ten seconds' method
Interesting review but do you have a favorite band you told me your favorite singer but what is your band
who is her favourite singer?
@@beraalper Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus
@@jean-philippest-yves2205 Thanks
@@beraalper You're welcome
@Bera ALPER Oh goodness! This makes me sound like I'm 15 🤣 I used to be super into both of those artists but not anymore since they've kind of gotten worse over time. Especially Miley. Ariana Grande is my favorite and most consistent pop singer and number one artist based on Spotify/Positions is always on in my car. But my top 5 including Ari has to be The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Kanye West and Fleetwood Mac ❤
Deliciously Good!
I heard most of this album live before I got the tape. Saw them touring on the monsters of rock with Anthrax and Slayer in 1990?
Awesome!
Clash of the Titans with Alice In Chains on their first major tour! My first concert, and I feel so blessed to have seen it.
Marty Friedman’s solo sauce is the sauciest sauce of all saucy sauces! Needless to say…he will melt your face!
I collect Band Skateboards as a hobbie and i just picked up a few Megadeth decks from the post office with this album art on in. If any fans are interested they are made by Primitve and are still available in stores 😉
I treid to play Megadeth ('cause I considered myself a kinda good guitar player back when I was in my twnties) and well...the riffs? All right I struggled a lot but in the end I managed ti play most of them. The solos? No fucking way....
Humbling lesson.
🤣🤣 I loveee this comment. Thank you for sharing. Oh Megadeth is amazing. I can't even imagine how difficult some of these riffs were to learn! My goodness. Will definitely come back and do another deep dive into them soon. Thank you for watching and sharing!
@@imaKaiya No problem, just recollections of afternoons and weekends of cursing on the guitar trying to play those solos. Anyway, I just stumbled on your channel and liked it so much: your reactions are so cool. Plus, you covered basically my favourite bands so what more could I ask? Instant subscription. Looking forward to more metal reactions🤘🤘
Caught Megadeth on tour supporting this album on Feb. 17th, 1988, in Indianapolis Indiana, at Market Square Arena. Opened for Dio. Savatage cancelled that night, unfortunately. Great show nonetheless.
That's a masterpiece, one of 3 you HAVE TO listen to: R.I.P. - PEACE SELLS - COUNTDOWN
