    The Back to the Future films are a master class in consequential scripting. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that is said or done in the film is related to, a result of, or foreshadowing something else. Even something like Doc's throwaway line at the when the rain stops ("Too bad the Post Office isn't as efficient as the Weather Service.") is foreshadowing for the end of the film when unpredictable weather sends him back while a postal service agent manages to arrive on time *to the very second* to deliver his letter to Marty.

    From a VFX standpoint, this movie is so famous for the creation of the 'VistaGlide' the first motion controlled camera system. Actors had been doing split screen and playing multiple characters in a movie since the 30's but the camera always had to be stationary to match up the footage. Now for the first time you could have camera motion because you could program the camera, film one take, then reset to the beginning, and the actor could play another role with the exact same pan, tilt, zoom, etc. What's always so interesting in clone shots is seeing how they did bits of interaction between the characters played by the same person, like when Marty takes his son's hat behind the bar at the 80's cafe.

    I dont think you're supposed to think Doc died at the end. I saw this as a kid in the cinema and that never occurred to me. The horror and fear was that Doc has gone somewhere in time, Marty has no idea where and now he's stuck in 1955 with no way to go home. @@OfficialMediaKnightsat least audiences only had to wait 8 months for the finale, rather than the 3 years they had to wait between Empire and Jedi! I don’t think back-to-back sequels had really been done before the BTTF sequels, actually. Originally it was supposed to be one movie, but it the story was so dense and ambitious that the budget was going to be north of $70 million. The studio was very reluctant to finance it and Gale & Zemeckis realised that they were probably trying to squeeze too much into one movie anyway. They suggested making it into two movies, and Universal liked that idea much better! It made more financial sense to them to make two $35 million movies instead of one $70 million dollar movie! It was still a bit of a risk though - uncharted waters - so we got the spoiler-ridden teaser for Part III shoehorned in before the credits to make sure that audiences knew the conclusion was on its way. Really glad you guys skipped that part!
      Extra fun fact - George Lucas originally intended to film Episodes II & III of the prequels back to back and release them a year apart, thinking that the new digital filmmaking techniques would make the work happen much more quickly. That plan was soon abandoned!

    16:08 "I wish I could go back to the beginning of the season, and put some money on the Cubbies."
    This character is Terry. He is played by Charles Fleischer, the voice of Roger Rabbit (another Robert Zemeckis film). Terry is the mechanic that fixed Biffs car in 1955. You can see him again at 40:09 played by the same actor. There is a deleted scene of him arguing with Biff in the future about the money Biff tried to stiff him. In that little argument, he states the exact day he fixed his car: Nov. 12th, 1955. This is apparently the reason Biff chose to back to that date.

    • @klopferator
      @klopferator หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Apparently (according to Jeffrey Weissman who played the role here) George was already written as being upside down in this device when they still thought Crispin Glover would reprise the role. The reason was that during filming part 1 Glover often ignored his marks where to stand (which f*cks up focus for the camera operator), so they wanted to make sure he wasn't able to move freely on his own. But if course it helped tremendously after they recast the role.

    INCREDIBLE reaction-thank you so much! It was like reliving the first time I saw this in the cinema as a kid back in 1989, and yes, we kids back then LOVED the hoverboards! Robert Zemeckis even trolled fans in an interview back then by stating that hoverboards were real but the manufacturers weren't selling them to the public because of safety concerns, and us gullible kids were desperate to get one! In fairness, I was only 11, so I won't be too hard on my naivety back then! 35 years later, and we're still waiting! Anyway, thanks again, can't wait to see your review of Part III! 🔥🔥🔥

    Amazing reaction guys❤ This is my favourite of the trilogy. The wonder of the futuristic 2015 and the utter horror of the alternate 1985 gets me every time. The despair in the music when Marty sees the town square is incredible.
    The performances are just awesome. Thomas F Wilson blows me away every time I watch these films. His physicality in each role is impeccable.
    Apparently they loosely based alternative '85 Biff on Trump😂

    YES LETS GO So many fun facts I know about this particular one, first one did you recognize that kid with green hat playing the arcade game from the 80'' Cafe, its baby Hobbit Elijah Wood. Look at thos eyes so adorable 😍 And it was Lea Thompson aka mom idea to have that size of inplants became she wanted the most different version of her character, and she had so much fun with it. Not so much of fun fact Crispin Glover aka dad actually sued I think the Studio🤔? For the look alike of his appearance on the "future George" when he wasnt told about it, he also didn't want to continue this trilogy because I believe of the low pay. Its because of that lawsuit that studios have to pay actors their full cut even if a small cameo, again im not a lawyer, I just saw a behind the scenes doc of this trilogy but its been a while since I've seen it.

      Thank you so much for the support and for sharing all those fun facts!! It's absolutely amazing that little Elijah Wood was in this, can't believe we didn't clock that!
      Also damn, that's such a shame that they had problems with Crispin Glover... It is a good thing that that set a precedent for actors though, your likeness should be compensated for sure!

    • @ESG151
      @ESG151 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Quite right about Glover, though I think it had more to do with them outright using his image in the paper and archived footage from the past film knowing he hadn't come back for the role. It's also why George was upside down in the future scenes, to further obscure the fact that it in fact wasn't Crispin Glover doing those scenes

    As far as I can tell nobody mentioned this so I'll give it a go lol 😅 (and it's not about Frodo or MJF playing his daughter since so many people have pointed it out already 😆)
    At 15:36 the stunt woman hit the left pillar. She wasn't supposed to hit it and the people working her wire thought she went into the building so they dropped her line so she could fall on the mats they had set in there to catch all the stunt people but because she hit the pillar and didn't go in the town hall she ended up falling 30 feet onto the concrete and breaking several bones. They kept her hitting the pillar and, for a couple of frames showing everyone landing in the town hall, you can see in the reflection of the glass door (or window?) the stunt woman falling to the concrete below in the movie. She was payed 13,000$ from workers comp for her injuries but because it wasn't enough for her bills she settled with the studio for a undisclosed amount. Worse yet the stunt coordinator pressured her into doing the stunt after the first stunt woman they had didn't think it was safe and refused. She was only just starting in the stunt industry too! Thankfully she did make a full recovery (unlike Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double in Harry Potter) and was still doing stunt work. Even worked with the same stunt coordinator again but this time she stood her ground with them and didn't let them pressure her into insanely dangerous stunts again

    The alternate dystopian 1985 reminds me of the alternate reality in It's a Wonderful Life. The town got all gritty, scary and angry, loud music playing in the streets. I wouldn't be surprised if it served as inspiration for the writers.
    I didn't think Doc died at the end when I first saw this, but I did think "Oh crap, Marty's stuck in 1955".
