Just bought me a pair of Momentum 4's today. They are sonic perfection. My first pair of Sennheisers was the PXC-550's... and they were immaculate. I bought Sony's WH1000XM4's a while back, and while they were fine, they lacked the stellar sound quality that comes standard from Sennheiser. With these Momentum 4's... they have locked me in as a brand-loyal customer for life. Could not be happier.
Antoine, I watched this review a few weeks back. I went out and bought the Sennheiser Momentum 4 as a result. I deliberately played the same song you refer to in the review, Big Flexa by Costa Titch. Titch really has some rhythm BTW. Just wanted the same experience as you. Man, were you right!!! These headphones absolutely score a 10/10 in the bass department. Battery is insane and I admire the overall quality and thinking gone into the whole package. I have used them in every gym workout since then and I can honestly say, the quality of my workouts are soooo much better because of your video. Threw my ear buds out. Sincere thanks for the recommendation and the song. Both are my favorites now.
I personally prefer raising the bass by 1 and leaving bass boost off for the Sennheisers. Gives better bass and keeps the clarity. Bass boost kind of kills a little detail in the highs if you ask me.
I got both of them, and I totally prefer the Sennheiser because of their superb sound. Though you're right, the Sonys are a bit more comfortable. Talking about ANC I would give them a par.
Which ones should i buy? The Sony get hot I heard and aren’t water resident and get dirty The seinmeister are too bulky for my liking which the Sony folded ugh
This is a professional review. Fantastic job of highlighting all the major plusses and minuses and distilling everything at the end. I still am undecided because I think these headphones are so close, but I think I have a new go-to tech reviewer. Also! So glad to see brothers doing their thing on here.
Love the review!! I’m deciding between the xm4’s and the momentum 4’s right now and the momentum’s are winning so far. I don’t mind the tighter fit. The sound is much better on the momentum’s.
I sold a pair of XM4 (they were *fantastic*). The Momentum 4 are beyond... I loved my Sonys, but the Momentum 4 are on another level for sound. There have been a higher percentage of people with software problems related to the Momentum 4 than there should be. However, Sennheiser offers a two year warranty and though they (like so many others right now) are likely overloaded with customer service calls for the time, they are a good company and they do take care of customers. Firmware bugs can be worked out. The sound quality of the Momentum 4 cannot be added to the XM4 (or XM5 for that matter) with any firmware updates. As much as I really loved my XM4, I am beyond thrilled to have the Momentum 4s -end of.
Omg no XM4 that’s one of the worst Bluetooth headphones in the premium price range for audio. Muddiest bass around. If sound is number 1 get the momentum 4 easily.
I doubt the sound is "much" better. These are considered the 2 best sound for their tier among most music listeners (not classical and wind instruments)
@@AsAWhiteManMarriedToALatina lmao, the XM4 is a trash sounding headphone. Momentum 3,4 airpod pro max, Bose QC, B&W etc so many better sounding headphones for the same price
I have tried all three let me tell you my opinion. 1) XM4 are bass heavy out of the box compared to M4 and especially compared to XM5. 2) People say XM4 doesn't have a high range but you can always adject it in EQ(i was using OnePlus 8T so i was using Dolby Atmos EQ). When i tried to increase the bass in XM5, the sound started to crack. M4 has good tight bass but not as much as XM4 3) In the ANC department XM4 & XM5 destroy M4. Personally, i can't differentiate between XM4 & XM5. 4) In microphone voice quality XM5 is best. Then XM4 and at last M4. 5) XM4 feels little loss. When you move your head it feels like it can fall down. The M4 has a little bit of a tight grip. XM5 has the best feel while wearing it. 6) Believe me don't go for LDAC s**t. In real life you can't notice any difference if you are using a music subscription having 320kbps quality (personally i tried tidal also and not very very slight difference in some songs when we especially look for it). 7) M4 sound feel like it surround your ears while XM5 and especially XM4 feel like sound is through directly to your ear. 8) Battery life is as individual specifications. Final verdict: See, you are only looking for great sound quality or great battery life then go for M4. For good sound quality and great ANC go for XM5(when i increased the bass in EQ it started cracking between 20-60HZ, don't know if this was an issue with my device or universal). Finally, if you are looking for great ANC and Bass heavy sound quality go for XM4(Note: you can always increase high end in EQ but you can't increase "clean bass without distortion" in EQ without compromising mid and high). Hope it helps 🙂
Great summery and i completly agree!!!!! I keep my Xm3 though also cause i like the app function changing the surround from arena, concert and so on. I miss this on the xm4 and 5 and also when it comes to sennheiser
Thank you Sir this is so far the best review take on the comparisons I’ve come across so far on TH-cam and Google. Mind you I’ve done a week of hav heavy research and finally glad I came across your comment 💯 I’m definitely going for the M4 as I prioritize sound quality over ANC and Comfort (Tried all 3 and it’s not a huge difference between them) Please advise me more about your experience with Tidal and the ‘Sony Walkman’ as it outputs Master quality. I currently use Spotify and contemplating the switch to Tidal.
1-4 aren’t particularly lining up with what other reviewers have said. I have the xm4 and just bought the M4. I guess I’ll find out for myself soon enough.
I like your style. Well I bought the Sennheiser's today, black/copper special edition pair. They are the best headphones I have ever owned, and the most expensive! Money well spent! Thanks for this video, I enjoyed your review. Thanks from London, UK. Oh, the app now got 5 eq sliders :)
Are you facing any bluetooth disconnection while listening or talking on calls ? Are you facing any music sound outside after keeping a side not using with full volume.
@@1292liam Yes, but you can use the app to adjust the eq and other settings. Once set for your listening you don't need to keep using it. It's no problem to use the app and quick to adjust.
I find the padding around the ear cups on the xm5 too thin. Also, I prefer the headband on the m4 because it distributes the weight better. Neither my scalp or ears get sore or fatigued with the m4s but they do with the xm5s. Also the m4s fit a smaller head better.
Ageeed. Returned the XM 5 due to headaches from the thin headband. Super hot spot after minimal use. I’ve also seen updated reviews showing the the head band adjust arms loosening and losing strength thus causing the arms to loosen during use on the XM 5s. M4’s, no contest, and for a better price for a better quality/performing pair of OEMs.
@@sirhcnosral m4s arms are slipping after only a few weeks of use, and I wear them with the arms fully up so it's not like the arms are getting worn with being extended all the time. Neither pair are a good fit for me but the xm5s are actually better comfort wise & fit wise now than when I wrote my original comment, and no loosening of the arms on my xm5s. . And don't get me started on the buggy sennheiser app, glitchy touch controls, and the creaking they've now developed... I would not recommend the m4s now. I just wish the arms were shorter, the headband a little wider, and the sound quality was better on the xm5s & they'd be perfect. Oh and anc that you can manually set levels for.
@@madcatter972 sony takes time to adapt once we get adapted they are awesome. Sound quality on sony depends on Dolby Atmos and requires EQ tuning on sony headphones app and please share your EQ.
Great review man. If the music you’re listening to isn’t lossless (I.e if it’s from Spotify) then AAC + DSEE Extreme is the way to go. DSEE won’t work with LDAC and LDAC on its own doesn’t sound as good as AAC + DSEE for lossy audio
Im an owner of both XM5 and Momentum 4. I must warn you all that Sennheiser's headphones have very unreliable firmware at the moment. They are prone to crashing and almost bricking out with no good reason. In my opinion (in fact its more like feeling) they have problems with tuning out system. It was designed to be "smart" and it causes continous problems. To be honest i never know if hesdsets are off, standby or just crashed. I learned not to turn them off but only disconect in phone's menu. First time it happened i thought they totally died but find online that holding button for about 20 seconds does kinda factory reset (but not quite). Many times during the week they just stopped playing the music but phone was reading them as working properly. Another hard reset was needed to fix the problem. Moreover in my opinion controls are too sensitive. I have long-ish hair and even stronger movement of my head can cause input on headphones. Had no such problems with XM3 and XM5. I was thinking about returning Momentum 4 headphones to shop but decided to give Sennheiser a chance and wait for them to fix the issue. (i belive it is a firmware problem so it might be fixed by new, improved firmware). Anyway those headphones at the moment (middle of september 2022) are not as spotless as reviews pait them to be. I suggest a caution and lots of thinking before you buy them. Ps: their big selling point is aptx codecs so they work better under modern Android phones cos most of them has those codecs by default. On Apple products they might sound a bit worse (not much, but alvays) as those use simpler codecs. Update. After installing latest firmware (released yesterday) headphones seems to work fine, without any crashes.
Awesome comment. I have just returned my xm5 because they kept shutting down for no reason even while playing audio. Probably also a firmware problem but I find unacceptable in a $400 headset. I was thinking on getting a momentum 4 but I think I will wait a bit now. I think I will keep using my old pxc 500 for a few more months and see how this unfolds in the future for the Sony and the Sennheiser. These 'smart features ' are a nightmare
Two weeks ago Sennheiser introduced firmware update. It fixes unstability issues. Been using headphones for those two weeks a lot and had no crash at all. So, my point about instability is not valid anymore. It was worth to wait.
@@ABG2412 honesty needs that. Ps: at the moment Sennheiser Momentum 4 are my favorite headphones. I wear Sony's WH-1000 XM5 or XM3 when weather is worse (they look a bit more weather resistant). And, after few months with Momentum 4 Sony's touchpad seems unresponsive (i got used to Sennheiser's higher sensitivity).
Thanks for your video! I just tested both headphones at the store and in terms of audio quality the Momentum 4 is much better! MX5 is superior in ANC and microphone isolation! Your evaluation is perfect and I am very pleased with the choice! M4 is also very comfortable!
Momentum 4 are the best in 2023 in wireless headphones. Nothing could beat it. To have a more balanced sound put eqaulizer to Flat However I encountered a problem. It made my ears warm very fast. Sadly I didn’t find any earpad replacements on the internet as these earpads are glued to a plastic frame and comes out like what apple did with Airpods Max Sadly i had to return it. So if this didn’t made your ears warm. Go for it 💯 percent Sadly i had to settle with Audio Technica M50X-BT2
I had both of these headphones and got rid of my XM5s and kept the Seinnhesiers. I know sound is subjective but ive heard a few people say the Sony's sound as good or better than the Momentum 4's.... I just dont hear, Sennheiser kills them for me
I find the audio on Momentum is bright and crisp however I prefer the warmness of Sony's. Even with the adjusted EQ, the boosted bass on M4 is quite light and not boominess enough . Testing them side by side, the ANC on Momentum 4 is definitely not as good as my Sony XM3. It's been a long time since I've got the XM3 and I'd have thought by now the ANC technology would've gotten better but clearly Sony is still miles ahead. If ANC is not your priority and a bright sound is what you prefer then Momentum 4 is alright.
Momentum 4 is not "alright!, Sony fanboy. :-) Momentum has MUCH better sound quality and good ANC - nothing like "miles ahead" by Sony. Price isn't a concern as Sennheisers are worth it even if more expensive. Sound quality is unmatched in Sennheisers.
If you go on settings on your phone, then press accessibility, then hearing enhancements and then press mono audio this will make the bass more boomy and make both sides more equal.
I just bought a pair of XM5s , they are fine and comfortable. Not so impressed with sound. Considering returning them for sennheiser (which I initially wanted) but u can’t switch ANC off and also apparently there’s lots of issues. If that wasn’t the case, I would have 100% have gone for sennheiser
Bro definitely go for the sennheiser momentum 4, they literally shit on AirPods and you can adjust the audio and hear every instrument and even adjust the bass, not to mention you can get a AMP for the headphones to make your music experience even better.
I got momentum 4s a month ago and am now sending them to sennheiser because there is white noise in the left ear that wont go away evrn after multiple factory resets. It isnt very noticable in transparency mode but very annoying with ANC on, I am reading on reddit people on their 3rd and 4th pair after multiple warranty returns and having the same issue. Sucks because the sound is amazing and the battery life is endless. Maybe eventually a software patch will fix it?
@@thegeth4293 I have come to the conclusion that I don’t wanna drop £300 on a pair of Bluetooth headphones. I sold my XM5s and just bought a pair for £60. For amazing sound quality when I wanna listen to music I’m just going to use my wired headphones Honestly I feel like there shouldn’t be this many issues with headphones of this price!! Or audio quality that average! I need a TH-camr to review and just be like “it’s actually not really that worth it, won’t add that much to your life” . Lol
@@bfunirfeyh5822 i like being able to set my phone down and work in the kitchen while still having the headphones on, i do have a pair of sennhieser hd598 on my gaming desktop and they are still the best headphones i have ever heard, if i had to slim down and keep only one tho, it would be a tough choice between them, and a pair of momentum 4s that had all the bugs worked out. Bluetooth is more important to me then it is to you i guess
About sennheiser What any influencer FORGET to mention about this model is the FIRMWARE UNSTABILITY...which is very annoyng - smart pause and head detection is terible...wont detect when i remove my headsets, only if i put them on my neck....also not start/pause automatically - the headset also suddenly shutdown even if is streaming....randomly - sound is good but not as hood as expected and the app even if usefull, could break the sound if you dont know more about sound quality. I am a bit dissapointed but is still acceptable to keep them because of sound and battery.
I just replaced my old Sony XM3 with the new XM5. Sony does a great job with sound quality, but the outstanding feature is the best ANC. They make me like my co-workers a bit better...
Did you not like the bass that much? Or was it too high for you? Im getting mines soon so my initial idea was just to keep the EQ flat. Do you think this is a good choice for a casual music enthusiast?
I am happy buying them. The only issue i have is the max volume. My sony Xm3 are a touch louder on max. Overall great headphones. The Surround Sound is phenomenal. What i noticed compared to my old xm3s is that i clearly can seperate Instruments played. Bass is also great but not the Bass increaser on the app. I dont use it. I will keep my xm3 because they are just a little more fun for Bass heavyness.. if you hear a Rammstein or Metallica concert Xm3 is the way..and i still love the app function to change between Arena, concert and so on.. really miss that on momentum4. The Xm5 are also great phones. A bit better ANC. But the Sound quality on momentum4 convinced me to buy.. and i dont regret One thing i discovered at 11:50 ..on the top you can change the equalizer with a drop down😅 I missed that and found that myself lately after 2 days of using them Great Review 😊
I have the Sennheiser momentum 4 but return them. The sound was great but I found them to be rather large and ear cuffs were rather thick like I had two cans on my ears. I wish they would have made them a little bit more compact. Still rocking my Sony XM 4
So for people with big heads. I would say i have a big head, Headphones from skullcandy for example dont fit me and most of the Headphones overall dont fit me. Both the m4 and the xm5s fit me. The M4 however barely fitted me. I was feeling the headband a lot and it made the headphone a pain to use. The xm5s were better i found them way more comfy. I would say size wise i had the same feel as the qc45 with the m4s pretty similiar size wise.
I love my XM5’s. They are worth every penny. Sony has the best overall performance. They are great in every aspect. Style, Comfort, Sound Quality, Battery Life, and that ANC is unmatched! Plus I have Apple Music. Plug in and Lossless Audio is damn near CD quality!!! No reviewer talks about that 🤔. Lossless audio is so amazing!!!!!
@@TheGamingAudiophile Agree. Can't understand how Sony so popular. Had xm3 two years ago and 5 for the same reason to try and compare and unfortunately they been return. It's subjective, but for me Momentum 4 sound in completely different league comparing with XM5.
@@DenisasPupkevicius Was that before or after changing the EQ settings? I'm sorry but Sony post EQ change is leagues better than Sony with regular settings, and I feel like more videos need to mention that
@joelo5164 incorrect. I have the XM5’s and iPhone 13 Pro Max, and when you use the adapter, Apple Music has lossless audio pal. Clearly you don’t know 🤭
Bought the senn momentum 4 yesterday and wearing em while watching your video. I decided to go for momentum 4 due to its design but music wise theyre so close its a matter of preference.
@Youssef Habib Between the sound profile and the eq settings, which elevates both these headphones ALOT, both are top tier sound quality for wireless headphones. You can't really go wrong either way if sound is your only measurement.
I love bright vocals (energetic emotional vocals) and this are more neutral, so i eq them mids up 2 db, sometimes i even up the bass and treble up 1. I always test them using Beat it by Michael Jackson, and Cardi B Bodak yellow (with that Rrrrr she does) Honestly it's been the best wireless headphones I have ever had. And finally a comfortable headphone, i had others that were extremely uncomfortable, Very warm worst in the summer, heavy.. etc.
Still trying to decide which one of these to get for Xmas, just got the soundcore q30 to hold me over so this video helped alot although I am still undecided lol. Or maybe I will just stick with the soundcores since I don't listen to music Love your vids my man

Great review, it halps me to decide of getting the momentum 4. Just one question, the momentum 4 is better then the momentum 3 in sound quality? Some reviews say the momentum 3 is better. Thanks
What I do notice is between the headphones and ear buds especially between the Sony 1000xm4, link buds S and the Sony 1000xm5 and Sennheiser momentum 4 is the ear buds seem to have much stronger ANC. The ANC on the Sennheiser momentum 4 is slightly worse than the xm5. Very slight. I could barely tell the difference between both of them. When it comes to sound quality especially with classical music and 50's and 60's music the Sennheiser momentum 4 sound much better to me and they have a much wider Soundstage. Also when I want bass they can hit much harder than the Sony's.
Thank you for this review! Sitting here with both ordered on my desk...trying to compare between the two... Heavily leaning towards the Sennheiser's because I have some of their earbuds too and the sound quality is great. Pretty sure I'm sending the Sony's back but it's a tough call! Semper Fi!
I've had both, but returned XM5s. Sony feels better in quality. They have more features. ANC and mic is far superior. I can talk freely with people in ambient mode. In M4 - not so much. I need to take them off if people don't speak loud. M4 are more comfortable though, support aptx Adaptive (low latency gaming) and there is no cabin pressure feeling with ANC on that makes my head hurt after some time. Sound quality felt... pretty similar? If I didn't want to use headphones for gaming, and didn't feel that cabin pressure (personal thing) I'd totally get XM5s.
@@Ematuresco you sound a bit worse with xm5 but almost ALL background sounds are filtered out. With Momentum 4 people can hear what's going on around you although your voice is much clearer.
probably a bit late but from what i've seen the momentum 4s are just much better than the airpod maxes in terms of almost everything. And considering the price tag of the airpods its a no brainer
Which one is the more comfortable for big ears? The earcups of the M4 look bigger but are oval snd the XM5 are square shaped but apparently the cushions are very thin
M4's all day. I put sound first. Damn I've a separate DAC for the phone and a pair of wired HD's and BT has improved but My main headphones will always be wired and I've JBL BT buds if Im not fussy which is rare
Just found your channel, good stuff. Out of all the reviews I've seen you have pointed out the most relevant/important features for me. After seeing your video, I don't think I will purchase either one of these because I need a solid pair of gym headphones. What do you think are the best headphones for the gym?
I finally settled on XM5's: yes, they're comfortable, nice ANC, Ambient; they have very good microphones which makes you being heard nicely even on the busy streets. I tried f. ex. Bose QC45 and they were sh*tty as f*ck in terms of phone quality. Speaking about the sound.. It's subjective, but, even though Bose QC45 have extended higher frequencies, it sounds unnatural, like some aliasing noise, while in XM5, where the higher frequencies are louder (comparing to XM3, which i had before), they are clearer - you hear, what sounds - if it's drum cymbals, you hear cymbals, not loud white noise. And that's nice. But the base in XM5 is somewhat lower than in XM3 (and possibly in XM4's, which i haven't used yet). But that's my subjective experience (even though i have a very good ear of music).
@@joanne0 yes! Extremely happy. Sound quality is awesome. Connection is very good. I had a few problems with the multipoint between a mac and an android phone. Updated the firmware (not the easiest task, the app keeps failing while upgrading and you have to force close and remove app data to retry) but eventually I got it updated, then no more issues.
Active noice cancellation touch controls on the sienheiser are just terrrible , and you can not disable ANC ,, it is always on at some level always . Avoid them at all costs
i am considering getting these momentum 4 headphones because i want a sound quality upgrade compared to the headphones i have right now, but ive heard from a couple of reviews ive seen while doing my research that they are quite quiet compared to other headphones. i prefer very loud headphones and usually always keep my volume at 100% on every pair of headphones ive had. so if someone who has them sees this, are these headphones quiet? please help should i get these?
I have the M3s and really like the sound. But the M4s have been getting excellent reviews. I'm wondering whether I can justify upgrading to the M4S. Sound quality is my most important factor, not things like ANC. Any thoughts?
Now the Sennheiser has 5 EQ bands. However I do not find it good out of the box. Bass is to strong (3-5 db at 60 and still 2 db at 250 Hz) for Bluetooth you can correct it and it sounds great. However connecting via USB or 3,5mm the original profile is kept and the change don't apply. For me a no go to use. But I use it on Bluetooth anyway. The transparent mode without music seems to show some noise flow.
No. At the moment (October 2022), no over-ear wireless headphone supports aptX lossless. Additionally, very few Android phones support it. If your phone does not support it, you won't get it in a software update and would need to buy a new phone with Qualcomm's latest silicone.
I have already worked out in both of them 🤣. Looking forward to listening to this review. I'm having a hard time making the decision on which one to keep. The sennheisers win hands down in music quality, comfort and staying on your ears. The xm5 wins in anc and mic. Transparency is the same. I wanted a pair that I can workout with (I know it's not recommended... I still do it though) and also work from home with. I might actually keep both lol and have my xm4s as a backup.
@@jasonMB999 I don't buy them from Amazon and I return them after a proper cleaning. If you don't put headphones through your personal tests then what's the point of buying them?
@@Alekios Idk. I clean them after every gym session and put a water absorption pad inside of the case so that water doesn't stay on them. I have worked out with my xm4s for years.
Sound quality is the most important for me. I’ve had the M4 for about 2 months already and just purchased the XM5 just because I wanted them both. I must admit the noise cancelling on the Sony is noticeably better but not by a milestone. The M4 is still fantastic for me. I don’t fully agree with you saying the Sony is more comfortable because I don’t feel that’s the case. In fact I prefer the feel of the Sennheiser. Probably because it’s a bit worn in already. You are correct in sayings that the XM5 is much lighter though but it’s something that I need to get used to. Sound quality on the Sony is quite disappointing in my opinion. The only advantage in my personal experience the Sony has is the noise cancelling. In all other categories the Sennheiser destroys the Sony.
@@Ohkeh640 instead of having to use the "Bluetooth pairing, searching, paired, connected" process - you literally just put the back of your phone to the earcup and presto magico it's paired.
Momentum 4: I discovered much beter sound quality when listening via usb cable on windows 11. It does not seem to work on ipad. does not work on the sony.
Sennheiser for me for sure. P.S. Listened to Big Flexa seeing in your video ... how can one listen to such crap. Nah, me sticking with Methods, NAS, Cubes and so on in that rhythm&g-style (respect from India). :p
I sold my XM5 because it was to big for my head... And bought a Momentum 4, but to be honest i am dissapointed. I have a Momentum 3, heavy but clear bass, while the M4 is so flat that even my AT AD900x open back headphone without eq can produce more bass, than the M4 with almost max bass eq. I am here to ask a question to everyone, having this headphone, is it really how it should sound? An example, if i listen to a rock song, on the M3 and on the XM5 i can hear the drumms, on the M3 almost like in real life, hard hitting and heavy. While on the M4 it is like someone is mashing upsidedown plastic cups. Is this normal for this headphone? On every kind of genre my M3 sounded more open and clear. It is not just the bass, listening to something with more instruments i can differentiate them on the M3, but on the M4 it is boring flat, and instruments are hard to tell apart. Maybe my headphone is faulty? Or my ears have gone mad? I have multiple headphones, wired, bluetooth, open and closed backs, and to be honest this is the worst sounding of them all...
Probably because of the audiophile inspired transducer makes them more natural sounding/flat, dynamic fast response, neutrality in vocals. Give them time to loosen up in your head. I never had the M3 but definitely the vocals on that headset have brighter vocals and more bass which is fantastic for me personally, where in the M4 drums for example should sound more natural yet with bass which gives it a somewhat body to it. I had the h95 beoplay not my cup of tea, but the cymbals were so gorgeous and the drums although lacked that thump natural, so when comparing them to M4, probably eq them treble up to put those cymbals more tonality.
Can't stand the sound of Sony headphones and to make them sound somewhat listenable you have to spend time in the EQ, but even then, they sound hollow and thin or muffled if you increase the bass. The comfort of the Sony headphones is subjective because I don't think everyone likes a light and loose fitting floppy pair of headphones specially when out and about. Sennheiser headphones sound outstanding out of the box, clean and balanced. If you increase bass they still sound clean and balanced. The fit is sturdy and secure even when doing activities. Sennheiser is doing it correctly for the people whom don't want to spend crazy money in the B&O, Focal or B&W but still want quality audio. Sennheiser is king of wireless headphone audio at this price as far as I'm concerned.
Speak to chat is the WORST feature ever! It rarely works. And if you think the Sennheiser sound great out the box....if you do EQ them....they become special! The Sony sound quality lack a certain precision. Particularly at the highest volume the sound become muddy and less distinct.
It can't be tough if we going off sound.... That's why we buy headphones for sound.. If you trying to compare and sell them for ANC or app or EQ those should be separate reviews not packaged into one....just saying...

Thanks for coming back and telling me about your experience! 🙌🏾
Hello, how are they working after all this time? I'm just thinking of buying them but not sure about the build quality.
I personally prefer raising the bass by 1 and leaving bass boost off for the Sennheisers. Gives better bass and keeps the clarity. Bass boost kind of kills a little detail in the highs if you ask me.
I agree, but songs like Drake's sticky are good fun to listen to with Bass boost on
I got both of them, and I totally prefer the Sennheiser because of their superb sound. Though you're right, the Sonys are a bit more comfortable. Talking about ANC I would give them a par.
Which ones should i buy? The Sony get hot I heard and aren’t water resident and get dirty
The seinmeister are too bulky for my liking which the Sony folded ugh

Sennheiser has one of the worst customer support
This is a professional review. Fantastic job of highlighting all the major plusses and minuses and distilling everything at the end. I still am undecided because I think these headphones are so close, but I think I have a new go-to tech reviewer. Also! So glad to see brothers doing their thing on here.
Say less
XM4 is still the best. I had the XM5 they are not as comfortable as the XM4. Momentum 4 ANC is not as good as the XM4's
M4 has good tight bass but not as much as XM4
3) In the ANC department XM4 & XM5 destroy M4.
Final verdict:
See, you are only looking for great sound quality or great battery life then go for M4.
Mind you I’ve done a week of hav heavy research and finally glad I came across your comment 💯
I’m definitely going for the M4 as I prioritize sound quality over ANC and Comfort (Tried all 3 and it’s not a huge difference between them)
Please advise me more about your experience with Tidal and the ‘Sony Walkman’ as it outputs Master quality. I currently use Spotify and contemplating the switch to Tidal.
@@yashencaldera personally i didn't notice any difference because i was using DESS Extreme while listening to Spotify so.....in my opinion NO.

Can you used them without the app? Having to fiddle with an app sounds annoying and unnecessary
Also tried both and agree. Got a sore hot spot on the xm5s
I’d get them but I hate the bulky plastic ear protruding and I’m a girl small head
Update. After installing latest firmware (released yesterday) headphones seems to work fine, without any crashes.
ty!!!
@@aleksanderdomanski222 Wow. Very cool on TH-cam for someone to bother with following up a month after the original post. Thank you.

To have a more balanced sound put eqaulizer to Flat

I had both of these headphones and got rid of my XM5s and kept the Seinnhesiers. I know sound is subjective but ive heard a few people say the Sony's sound as good or better than the Momentum 4's.... I just dont hear, Sennheiser kills them for me
"Let's get out of here before I get upset" 😂 Totally agree, that Spotify limitation pissed me off too!
Which one is louder?
Momentum 4 is not "alright!, Sony fanboy. :-) Momentum has MUCH better sound quality and good ANC - nothing like "miles ahead" by Sony. Price isn't a concern as Sennheisers are worth it even if more expensive. Sound quality is unmatched in Sennheisers.
If you go on settings on your phone, then press accessibility, then hearing enhancements and then press mono audio this will make the bass more boomy and make both sides more equal.
Man! Your spirit, your jokes, the details of each product! You are my new favorite person to go to for tech reviews!
You can turn the nc and trandparancy off but only trough the app. You can set the nc on the headset very light and that almost does the same
Bro definitely go for the sennheiser momentum 4, they literally shit on AirPods and you can adjust the audio and hear every instrument and even adjust the bass, not to mention you can get a AMP for the headphones to make your music experience even better.
I got momentum 4s a month ago and am now sending them to sennheiser because there is white noise in the left ear that wont go away evrn after multiple factory resets. It isnt very noticable in transparency mode but very annoying with ANC on,
I am reading on reddit people on their 3rd and 4th pair after multiple warranty returns and having the same issue.
Sucks because the sound is amazing and the battery life is endless.
Maybe eventually a software patch will fix it?

Sennheiser M4 - my presets ended up being -2db bass, +0.5 mids and +1.5 treble. Don't touch bass boost as it muddles the sound.

I been hoping for this, but as well with the Technics A800 and Bower&Wilkens px7 S2's. They look great

What do you think are the best headphones for the gym?
Hi …. A voice from above when listening to songs on the phone ( sony xm 5 or sennheiser momentum 4 ) ??
Great review! BTW, Sennheiser has now added a 5-band EQ to their app!

M4 has aptx adaptive but can it support aptx lossless?
No. At the moment (October 2022), no over-ear wireless headphone supports aptX lossless. Additionally, very few Android phones support it. If your phone does not support it, you won't get it in a software update and would need to buy a new phone with Qualcomm's latest silicone.
@@ARC87Эти наушники поддерживают aptX adaptive, скажите,это лучше LDAC или нет?
How is M4's case compared to sony XM4's case? is it much bigger?
I have already worked out in both of them 🤣. Looking forward to listening to this review. I'm having a hard time making the decision on which one to keep. The sennheisers win hands down in music quality, comfort and staying on your ears. The xm5 wins in anc and mic. Transparency is the same. I wanted a pair that I can workout with (I know it's not recommended... I still do it though) and also work from home with. I might actually keep both lol and have my xm4s as a backup.
how does the m4 hold up with sweat? i know they are not sweat resistant but i hate earbuds and the m4s look so nice
You buying headphones on amazon, working out in them snd then returning? 🤢🤮Disgusting stuff.
Nice!
Loving your phone cover. Wheres that from?
In my opinion, the toppad of XM5 is much more comfortable, the M4's toppad is pushing my head.
Amateur
yo whats the phone case u using? the orange indigo one
I hope 1MORE has you on their 1MORE sonoflow review list!!
How is the XM5 when it comes to gym? I've had 2 Momentum 4's break because of sweat which somehow makes the power button not wanna work.
Airpods are better for gym!! they’re good than the over the ear headphones.
or any earphones
These headphones are not made for workouts
I will go with the momentum 4 because it is cheaper and sounds better
Can the Sennheiser be used for gaming
Comfort > premium materials
I rock the xm3 and xm4s but the xm5s don't impress me due to the lacking NFC pairing.
Yoo did they get rid of that feature?!?
What’s that
@@Ohkeh640 instead of having to use the "Bluetooth pairing, searching, paired, connected" process - you literally just put the back of your phone to the earcup and presto magico it's paired.
Which one is louder
I need quality headphones for the gym , can I use the sennheisers ?
Momentum 4: I discovered much beter sound quality when listening via usb cable on windows 11.
It does not seem to work on ipad.
does not work on the sony.
Just bought the Sennheiser's .. Thank you!
Sennheiser for me for sure.
P.S. Listened to Big Flexa seeing in your video ... how can one listen to such crap. Nah, me sticking with Methods, NAS, Cubes and so on in that rhythm&g-style (respect from India). :p
if you are bass lover go for xm4 if you want clarity go for m4. xm5 not good really
Great Video Antwan! Always love your content!
I prefer the Sony but when comes to design I prefer the senheiser atleast the white version
Found a way to make the Momentum’s shine using my iPhone. Without using it? They all sound nerfed.

the stress in me just went 🔥😭🥵
Can I treble like this fantastic upload? Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤
Yeah bro, you definitely have a defective or fake M4…
Senney for audio quality sony for everything else.
I love to watch movie and listen music, but SM4 doesn't not have 3D audio, is that good for my purpose!? Can someone give me some comment, please?
How can I adjust them?
It can't be tough if we going off sound.... That's why we buy headphones for sound..
If you trying to compare and sell them for ANC or app or EQ those should be separate reviews not packaged into one....just saying...
