    Long time OnePlus users automatically draw a v on the screen to open the flashlight. It's a huge feature that has been the on the phones since OnePlus one. The long press volume button has a special use, that you might not know. If you use a case that folds over and COVERS the screen, then the new hold the volume button feature makes sense. You can easily find the button without flipping open the cover. And you can do it in the dark by feel.
    Not exactly sure why reviewers buy an 800 dollar device and not use covers. Who are they reviwing phones for? What average person uses a phone naked. The experience most people have is with cases protecting their valuable purchase.
    False touches becomes niche when you have a case or back cover. Also the slipperiness is only noticed when swapping covers.
    Join the world and use covers. That's how we experience our phones. When you DON'T use a cover or case it seems like you are getting phones for free and that valuable device for you is being treated like a toy.
    Sorry to sound so negative. I'm very appreciative of long term reviews of phones that aren't apple or Samsung.

      @dr.fitprofessor1970 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally, I purchased the OEM aramid carbon fiber bumper case and a black tempered glass camera module protector for my silky black 12. Both give my 12 a futuristic race car look. I never spend big money on a phone and leave it unprotected. I don't understand why some people do.
      A good quality Case will prevent accidental touches. However, once muscle memory develops that's not even necessary. Most reviewers change phones constantly so, muscle memory never develops. They never take that into consideration.

    • @gmosc
      @gmosc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dr.fitprofessor1970 yes, muscle memory is a tricky thing. If you have one phone (like I normally do) muscle memory does wonders. BUT, I switched from OnePlus to pixel and back to OnePlus and use my pixel with a data card as a second device. My muscle memory is a bit messed up (volume button placement and special features like drawing a V for the flashlight)

    yeah curved edges will prompt unwanted touches. just slap any case on it and it will put a gap between your hand and the edges which will solve the issue. Still enjoying my oneplus 11, running like its still fresh out the box, only lost 3% battery life after using and abusing it with the supervooc 100w charging which is insane. i thought high wattage charging would degrade the battery faster but apparently not. Overall i can see how happy someone would be with the 12.

    I'm surprised everyone hates the curved edges. I kinda don't like how it usually makes you fill a video and lose the edges of the video, the format doesn't seem perfect for it. But outside of videos not filling it perfectly, I love it! False touches I guess do happen but I dunno, I think I got used to not touching those areas. I keep phones for longer than what phones like this have been giving in terms of security and os updates. I really want this, but the 7 year update cycle of the bigger phone companies have me wondering where to go.

    • @KTPurdy
      @KTPurdy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I can understand some concern about OS specific security updates, but virtually every security hole is plugged by the updated apps that run on top of it. Even after the OS features go static, you still update the latest apps that run on top if it. For me, I haven't really noticed drawbacks of using a phone that doesn't have the latest OS on it.

    Personally, I prefer a curved glass design to a flat screen. I don't care for endless right angles and a lack of ergonomics. Furthermore, once muscle memory develops, accidental touches will seldom happen.
    The tensor G3 chipset in the pixel 8 Pro is only capable of 2.8 gigahertz per second; hi tier mid-range performance. Conversely, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the OP12 is capable of 3.4 gigahertz per second; laptop level performance. Thus, the 12 will always win that battle.
    I've been using my 12 since February and it runs silky smooth. I had some misgivings about moving my 11 over to my secondary device but, I have no regrets. In addition, I purchased the OEM aramid carbon fiber bumper case and a black tempered glass camera module protector. Both give my silky black 12 a futuristic race car look.

      @@Donni_10 if you already have a curved glass display, you should have already developed muscle memory. I've been using curved glass for years and I never experienced missed touches. Frankly, if you're that uncoordinated, all you really have to do is put a case on the device; problem solved.

    Comming from Xiaomi Mi 9T pro, I've used two S24 Ultra for a month in total. Wanted the best overall phone, and apple in my country is way more expensive than samsung or other brands (to test). The camera's were very impressive, the 1x and 5x especially. The screen of the phone was impressive with that anti glare new technology. The Pen was a very cool to play with, I even managed to put the lightsaber sound when in or out. Now for the average things of it, the battery performance was ok in the last two weeks, the screen on low brightness looked very weird, the AI features only used them once when testing them. The volume of the speaker during calls was average, and in my own language some letters sounded very bad that hurt the ears (romanian). As for the bad things: the phone heats up when taking photos. The speaker is... on the left side of the phone , and it's easy to cover it with your fingers, very annoying when watching media content (except youtube or anything in landscape). The square design , was unique but very incomfortable after some time to hold, even with protection case. The charging speed was way too slow for 2024, 1h+ to charge your phone, even if it did 1-60% in 40 min, it was not enough for me. Phone itself is very huge, but also heavy. Too heavy. The personal things I never read online that made me return it, the raise to wake sensor only worked 50% of the times, the fingerprint was way too high, unnatural position of the finger can also not recognise the finger. The face unlock worked fine (fast), but if you wanted to read your notications on locked screen, you had to raise the screen up, and the distance required was too long, it took like 3-4 attempts each time. Need to mention, I returned the first S24U after two weeks, cause a better priced offer appeared with free earbuds SE as well. So it s hard to tell I got two broken devices. Perhaps if you always been a Samsung user, you might never notice some of the issues mentioned above. I'm currently testing One Plus 12, and the only drawback so far is the camera with white tones, but still better than oversaturated the S24U made, and the low volume on speaker calls. In my country, the difference between the two is 120 euro.

    Maybe I got a defect because my OP12 is terrible. Lags a lot, freezes constantly, especially when using Gmail and now TH-cam on occasion. The curved screen is annoying. There will be something I want to select near the edge and it's impossible for the screen to sense my finger. The screen often doesn't register my touches.
