Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world. - เพลง
Page is 25, Jones 23, both Plant and Bonzo only 20 years old here. Man the talent they had in their early 20's is out of this world.
Absolute, I agree, you cant play this level of music without a great talent.
Show me a band nowadays who can still compose such pieces of music and play at this level!
@@BestOff61 Nobody has ever reached the heights LZ soared to, the only other band that can be mentioned without making me erupt with laughter is the Beatles.
Some might argue Metallica from 1983-1991 from "Kill Em' All" to yes even, 1991's The Black Metal, were one of the few bands from any era succeeding Zeppelin's 1980 breakup to release groundbreaking, fast-paced, innovative, slick, forward-thinking music that was so far ahead of 90% of rest of other bands of the era, excluding maybe U2, they were at least near Zep's level. Some music critics, insiders, writers for years labeled Metallica "Generation X's Led Zeppelin". Of course, while certainly Ulrich and Hetfield have praised Led Zeppelin's music on their own development, style, and music as an influence, Metallica's themes and aggressive, occult, macabre, often times cynical criticisms of organized religion, war, politics, corruption has far more to do with Black Sabbath. James Hetfield, Ulrich have admitted numerous times if Black Sabbath never existed, most of the successful 80's thrash, glam metal bands don't exist, either. Maybe quite a few punk bands from the late 70's influenced by Sabbath like the Ramones, Black Flag, the Misfits, and Henry Rollins never form or get involved in music.

Plant has absolutely no fear with his voice here. Just incredible, maybe his best ever
Damnit, unfortunately I feel like it was his best. It's such a shame that by '73 this version of Plant was forever gone. His time of fearlessly hitting soaring high notes was way too short-lived. I understand that he still ripped it up and to this day still sings great, but man, for me, there is no greater Zep era than when Plant was destroying unnaturally high registers like this. I can, however, see why it didn't last very long. That range was godlike. Unsustainable.
Absolute powerhouse. Plant was a God.
Absolutely. Well said! Did you catch his "Yeah yeah yeah" at 4:56?
He was only 20!! Same for Bonzo. Astounding!!!
OPERATOR is probably better.
Ok let's all be honest, if you're a vocal fan Plant owns that, if you're a bass player John Paul lays it down, and if you want to play lead well Jimmy is the man. And if you want to play the drums bonzo ain't giving lessons. This is a band of rock gods. Thank you Jimmy, Robert, and both John's.
yep all that plus the killer tunes like ten years gone and achilles last stand, wanton song, what is and what should never be
Plant said jimmy had little to do with zeppelins success and was just a sloppy guitar player. Wow
@@petergolan242 highly doubt that
@@petergolan242 Except Jimmy turned down other offers, to start a band of his own, and was referred to Robert. Jimmy was there for Donovan, Petula Clark, temp Yardbird only when they were in a jam. He was probably scary, experimenting with drugs so frequently, and the dark arts. Clapton in my mind, could have given up on him, but maybe there was guilt there for giving him hard drugs. We are so fortunate they survived those times. Sorry to preach, just thinking about all Robert put up with. My favorites are Immigrant Song and Kashmir.

The reason why rock woke up again at around 1990 (before it died again in 96ish, with the exception from Wolfmother) was very much that grunge bands and other subgenre directions were inspired by finding their parents'old LPs from '69 to' 78

On August 12th, 1968, in a small basement at 39 Gerrard Street in London, England, Page, Plant, Jones & Bonham assembled and played together for the first time. All four were stunned by what happened the instant they began playing. As skilled musicians (to put it mildly), they immediately recognized that the melding of their individual talent yielded an immensely powerful chemistry. They had bottled lightning & they knew it. I'd wager that their faces probably resembled some of these overwhelmed kids. In all of rock's storied history, Led Zeppelin remain unequaled.

The concert above is not the first time Zeppelin played together.
Wandering Druid I’m pretty sure he knows given he listed the date as a whole year prior.
And the first song they played together, there on Gerrard Street, was Train Kept A-Rolling, "and the whole room exploded!"

There's a shot at 11:06 and this girl in the middle of the audience, sitting forward wearing a white top, looks towards her friend, as if to say, are you getting this? This is something else!! Love that little look.
They did mostly seem underwhelmed by what they were watching and listening to.
@@ADRIAN-fb9xj I assume they were told the recording was about Zepplin, not them. So sit down and make quiet.
@@TheCarin12 That's quite possible, but more likely they didn't realise what they were watching? I've assumed a lot of things in my life, and I generally get it wrong.
Your assumptions may be a lot better than mine! But it doesn't really matter. It's a Great Video, well recorded and good camera work.
The absolute wonderful start of greatness.
Saw them twice in that time period at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago! Never have witnessed such a powerful, electrifying stage presence from a rock band. Nobody, nobody could compete with them at the time!
If they had never existed before and suddenly appeared on stage today, they'd still be phenomenal.
Но кажется , что большинство рыгало бы как при родах ни фига не понимая, и отрицая это своим рыганием...
OMG IF I WOULD HAVE!! COULD HAVE ???? LOL FLINT MI
Would have ADSIRED QITH A HAPPY FEEL GOOD N SMILE FOREVER ! THANK YOU FLINT MI
my god what a great sound
1 guitar and a bass and a small drum kit and 1 singer and they create an incredible sound
the timing between them is amazing
the bass and the drums are just perfect together
the lead guitar is on a whole different level than most
and the vocals oh my god what a voice
the best rock band ever and this recording sounds freaking amazing
This still gives life, even in the dark depths of 2020.
Of 2021 🙈

SO GREAT TO HEAR THE ORIGINALS PLAY AGAIN! I was fortunate to see them twice in concert in the 70's. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Page's intro makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Brilliant
