Nice to have you sharing, Jesse! I found it an interesting study in forward / backward movement on the bike during the run. We'll say it's a rider position study angle!!!! Puttin in work... Championship 2022! I wish you speed and wins!
Hey Jesse do you have a list of skills and fitness aspects (i.e. sprinting) that you could rank in order of importance for racing? Good luck this season, love your videos!
Ah it's nice to see Emmetss also up and running after PBA. Also the angled definately got something to it lol. Making it more claustrofobic feeling and nailbiting to watch how you fly through that terrain haha.
Nice job Jesse! The angle gives a good perspective on what you're doing with the front tire actually. Would prefer to hear the sound during the ride..it's a bit too quiet.
Fuck yeah! JESS!! You came back on youtube again I really miss your video on 6 months every other day or week I always check your channel for your new video sorry for the late watching to your vlog.
Whatever the camera angle is, this looks always so damn fast 😂 Thanks again for sharing with us kind of races like that. How do you feel about the approaching EWS season ?
This is great -- thanks for posting! I think the camera angle used in the race stages is helpful. Sure, the extreme downward angle is a bit disorienting because limits how far ahead we can see, but it still allows us to see your steering inputs and line choice (even how you open up the smallest turns in the trail to carry speed out). This is far more instructional than a higher angle looking past your bars. Please keep using an angle that lets us see both your line choice and how you got onto that line through your steering inputs -- especially in these how to videos!
Awesome video Jesse! I'm a huge fan of yours, and am racing an altitude just because that's what your on. I was wondering how you stay calm before a race, and what you do to minimize energy loss from nerves and excitement. I train really hard, but always get the jitters on race day.
I meant to mention this in the video actually! Deep breaths to calm yourself are important, if you have trained hard and feel ready for the race, then you can be confident that once the clock starts you have done everything you can and to just ride as fast as you can and have fun. The results will follow.
It would be cool, if you could do a vlog series about your Training on the bike and the stuff you do besides (gym etc.) to prepair for the season 👍🏼 Greetings from Germany 🤟🏽
Thanks for sharing Jesse, the one take away i have had with your videos although you need to turn the mic up and not have it as silent as it was is listening to your breathing techniques. Changing and improving my breathing technique from listening to yours has been an absolute game changer. What i noticed is you could be super fit but if you cant breath correctly then all that fitness makes for nothing as you cant bring the heart rate down from peaks and cant get the oxygen the body need to get the muscles working
For sure! There are times to focus on breathing and times to focus on what you are doing. But building your breathing so that it is subconscious is important.
I love riding my bike and I would like to know what you did to become a pro rider? Also do you prefer carbon or alloy wheels and why? Keep up the work you machine!😊
What sort of training would you recommend to do of the bike? I've been running and swimming, but is there anything you've done in the gym that have payed of or made a big difference?
The accidental camera angle actually shows how much you have work the front end. Gives us an interesting look at how much effort is needed.
Glad you found it useful!
Jesse back on the youtube game and my guy needs to windproof his gopro 🙂 but still really good video 🤌
The new 10 doesn't seem to cancel out the wind noise as well as my previous ones!
But the video quality is insane
@@schmidt5988 it’s true! I’ll figure it out for the next one.
Amazing video. Look into rycote overcovers. Little fuzzy things that look like beards on your GoPro. Blocks wind noise perfectly.
@@JesseMelamedMTB It tries to cancel it, but kills everything else :) I bough a Windslayer foam cover for my GoPro 8. Works like magic.
7:56 when you knocked the camera is a perfect example of what happens when you aren't looking ahead as you ride.. it's a teachable moment!
True!
Have fun cause you can only go as fast as you can go
Love it. Stoked for the Squamish enduro.
The work to go faster happens outside of the race! See you there!
Welcome back- was good to see you at Tweed Valley last year, and see how the Pro's do it for real
I'll be there again!
Oh yeah I love when Jesse uploads a new video!
yea!
Good to see you again and good luck.
Go through your safety padding for medium dh and steep dh racing and tyre choice, thanks
Thanks, will do!
Well done Jesse !
Fast riding! Respect!🤘
Thanks! 👍
@@JesseMelamedMTB 🤙🤙🎵
Yeah you’ve got water, cliffbars etc but most importantly, you’ve got your SLAYER t-shirt on🤙
hell yea!
All they way from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 all the best for upcoming EWS 👊
Thank you! Nice of you to say hi!
Damn, what you call mellow trails would be right up my ballpark. Looks like a dream to ride there
Mellow as in the vibe and seriousness of the event, just a chill social event!

I'm glad you found something useful out of the bad angle! Thanks!
Ayyyyy good to have you back !
Thanks!
Nice work man! Your uphill pace on stage 1 was looking like me downhill. Looking forward to the next vid!
Thanks Bryn! It felt hard to go as fast as I wanted up that climb with all the roots in the way haha.
Nice to see you out there!
Hey Jesse do you have a list of skills and fitness aspects (i.e. sprinting) that you could rank in order of importance for racing? Good luck this season, love your videos!
Tough to say because what’s most important is what you need the most.
Ah it's nice to see Emmetss also up and running after PBA.
Also the angled definately got something to it lol. Making it more claustrofobic feeling and nailbiting to watch how you fly through that terrain haha.
Good to see him doing well for sure! Glad you enjoyed!
Nice job Jesse! The angle gives a good perspective on what you're doing with the front tire actually. Would prefer to hear the sound during the ride..it's a bit too quiet.
I turned it down because the wind noise was really loud for some reason.

Thanks for the idea!
you are alive
I am!
I think a wind sock to put over your gopro would be a good investment.
I have one, didn't use it for this one.
Damn where can I buy this sick jersey. It seems pretty heavy metal :^)

Stoked to see content again. I learn so much just watching your line choice. Should try to hook up a seat post GoPro sequence🤷🏾♂️
What's a seat post gopro sequence?
@@JesseMelamedMTB sounded more complicated than it is. A buddy with a follow cam..in front of you though.😂
Cool to see you back dude....what's your favourite recovery meal....oh and 🎂 cake....
Favourite would be a burrito. But my go-to at home is home fries with veggies and eggs.
This camera angle is like a POV of how most people ride cuz they don't look forward enough :D
hahaha true, so it should be fine then?
we can let this one slide as long there is more content in the making! 😉
Where did you get that Slayer jersey? I need this 🖤
Hey Jesse, could you list the trails you guys raced in this video? Thanks!
Man boobs, Crouching to kiki's, Rupert.
Hi Jesse, how would you deal with a bear or moose attack in a race stage? What about a pack of raccoons?
I'd try to make friends with them.
Hi Jesse! Do you reckon the EWS will be back in Tasmania next year? Keep the videos up!
I hope so!
is there a results page? Nicely done btw

I love riding my bike and I would like to know what you did to become a pro rider?
Also do you prefer carbon or alloy wheels and why?
Keep up the work you machine!😊
I never stopped working towards it. Training and skills practice. I prefer alloy for a more forgiving ride.
Do you strength train during race week or do you back off for the season? See ya at the Squamish enduro 👋🏼
Yes but lower weight, and just body weight exercises when I'm travelling. Wish I could fly with a KB though.
How do you get your go pro footage to look that smooth ... Besides smooth riding cause that isn't an option for me ! :)
I was using the max lens mod on the Hero10 so it has extra stabilization!
You need one of those GoPro fuzzy things.
I have one! Just didn't use it.
dude that mid track climb was evil....
Not the worst we've had!
How do you pace stages? Straight nuts out of the gate? Accelerate/build pace into the stage?
Depends on the stage, how well you know it, and where your strengths are. I'll try to go into that on the next video.
Ok, where do I get that slayer jersey? 🤣
Find one of the three who raced in it! I traded with one of them for it.
What sort of training would you recommend to do of the bike? I've been running and swimming, but is there anything you've done in the gym that have payed of or made a big difference?
Yes, Squats and deadlifts. Getting strong through mobility is really helpful.
Good to see some racin' from you again Jesse. Shame about the angle, but does at least highlight how important it is to keep your eyes up 🙃
Haha one good thing to take away from it
@@JesseMelamedMTB Lookin' fast too mate 🤘
yes lad!
We back!
Sick!!!
Thanks!
The YT auto generated captions think you call yourself Justin Melon... could be a fun alter ego.
Hello, my name is Justin Melon
Is that emmeck joing you?
yes.
the no sound while racing is driving me more bonkers then the angle
The wind noise was worse...
Layer, that a shirt made for graphic designers.
Maybe?
I'm commenting to say how bad the angle is on the second stage :P Enjoyed it anyways, looks like a fun race!
haha thank you!
I can accept the accidental angle change but missing the ‘h’ from yeah? Understandable if you were American but I expect more from a Canadian
Consider me informed.
what a terrible cameraman
Yes, thank you.
