@Ewan Wright don’t hesitate to contact the guys at DVO. If you’re in the States give them a call and you’ll likely get then owner who’ll be happy to help get you sorted. If you overseas than shoot them an email. They’re customer service is excellent.
Yeah I find my 2.6 enduro casings (using nukeproofs inserts now) can get real low when I just CBA to check pressure after a bit sometimes, I honestly find about 12-14 front 16-18 rear is my absolute lowest on that width without any squirming at all. But it feels amazing when its at that sweet spot in pressure and seems quicker to my mind when it dampens the small chatter a bit more. Keep playing with it, it's all subjective and will change depending on terrain anyway is what I figure. Edit...Should probably say this only applies at race weight and when I'm a bit on the "eaten too many mince pies" side it does not work anywhere near the same.
They are nice! Running 18/16 in the dry and 14/12 in the wet. Never folded a tire, way more confident. They are heavy and expensive though, using the xc version in the front is an option. I wouldn’t ride without them anymore... Ah yes, and you skipped the pain of putting them on 😂 Sick riding 🚀
Hey Lewis, great video content as usual. I’ve got cushcore pro in the rear and XC up front. They say you can drop 5 psi from normal. I run 16F and 20R and feels great, like an free extra 10mm of travel. Might go lower after seeing this!
I started running cushcore a couple of weeks ago and I can definitely tell a difference. It fells like my bike pops off rocks and roots while absorbing the big hits.
Just took my cush core out last night after running them for over a year to see if i would notice the weight difference, it was time to replace the sealent. Went for a spin round Glentress and the bike was skittering all over. I'll put them back on next asap. Dont think ill run that low of a pressure though😂😂😂
I’ve been running Cush core for 2 years it takes away the pingyness of high pressure and it makes the tyre pressure ramp up like a volume spacer in an air shock. My thoughts with flat protection are tyres are like a balloons the higher the pressure the easier it is to pop a tyre
I love running my tyres soft, I tend to run my tyres around 15psi / 16psi. Might try lower just to play around with, but love the feeling of soft tyres especially down techy trails :)
Great video for some insight. I run the nukeproof ard inserts and run my tyres at 16f and 18r. I'd be really interested to see what pressures you end up running on your race bike
Wow ok. So I’m 86kg (190lbs) And always ran 23psi front 27psi rear. And now with cushcore I just dropped 2 psi so 21-25. This has got me thinking maybe I can try drop and an other 2 psi and try 19-23. I’m keen to see your final psi settings! Be looks like we have Similar starting pressures
Cool video!. I'm running Cushcore front and rear for the first tine and I think I'll try dropping a few more psi too and see how it feels. I'm sure they'll be a point of diminishing returns. Will you adjust your suspension settings if you're going to run at lower pressures as well or leave as previously set up?
am i right to assume that (before 14:43 you mentioned squirming in relation to low tire pressures) cush core stopped it? In a snowed over Seattle, I reduced my front and rear tire pressure to less than or equal to 15PSI (I typically run 20 front and 30 rear because I'm only 120lbs, and a tarmac commuter that abuses my bike when he am able to), but my front tire's tubeless valve wasn't fastened correctly, so air was slowly leaking out and i had a wobble/squirm at the end of my commute worse than when there is not enough spacers inbetween the headset cap and the bearings, if you know what i mean.
I’ve been running the XC version in my race wheels and the difference has been staggering, so great to see your timed runs and the improvements they bring. Based on my experiences, I’ve opted to drop my pressures. Will you be considering the same?
@@LewisBuchanan I deinstalled mine in weekend. Couldn’t seal my front wheel on the spoke holes, eben with ne rim tape. In the past I didn’t had any issues with that. But changed my sealant and I think that sealant is to viscous to get below CC when it’s sitting tight on rim. After removing everything worked perfect 😢
Have the CushCore Pro on my DH bike, while I ride at +25 PSI I still really love them but I might try 20 psi at 85 kgs. What do you think for CushCore XC for my Optic ?
So if you have a tire burp down to something like 10 psi during a race run, do you typically pull over and air it up or just run it and hopefully not flat? Without cushcore I mean.
@@LewisBuchanan I wonder if the reduced air volume has any negative effects. Increase the progessiveness of the air inside the tire should make the psi spike much more when you have a big case. I know I've just blown off a brand new tire and cushcore, and I've never blown a tire before. But I did gain 20kg during quarantine hahaha
9? Hmm that rim protection is definitely a pro but I can’t be bothered to mount tyres with a Cush core, did it once with a buddy but I don’t want to do that again
I know that you can’t say anything about the range yet cause of the embargo, but if you can confirm that it will only be in carbon would be great because I want it but carbon it’s not on my budget!
@@chadsugden411 Well then I’ll have to go for the Meta Am 29 ( when I have the money), shame though Coil shock, high pivot, aurum looking thats a dream bike if they’d made it on aluminum they would sell lots more
@@chadsugden411 yeah my shop just showed me one by accident but on forums people say only carbon but I really wish they’ll make aluminum, but if not AM 29 ride for 3000$ is a good deal, are you interested on the range?
Gabriel 99 I sold my giant trance back in December I was keen on the meta am 29 but couldn’t get one till august so I ordered a nukeproof mega and was told it would be here in 4 weeks, but it kept getting delayed month after month after month so I went into a local bike shop and was considering waiting for the Norco range but when I heard it was carbon only and start price around $7000 AUD I went the Norco sight they had on the shop floor and rode out that day. And told nuke proof to give my deposit back, I was bikeless for 4 months... I just wanted to ride. And to my surprise the shorter travel bike rides like it’s got way more travel then160 - 150. Sick video dude the cush core is king definitely looking forward to trying it out!!
Yes dude!
Was considering running cushcore. Just brought a set because of this video. Thanks dude!
Yo! That’s awesome, I’m glad!
when will you do a dvo setup video because I have dvo too and would really like some tips for setting it up
Hopefully sometime soon! I’m waiting to do testing myself haha

Thanks for all the Optic info and thanks for the info on the Cush Core, well done! I’ll definitely be trying out a set soon!

Just hope it doesn’t go flat. If you have an insert then it’ll help keep the bead on etc and protect your rim too

Side cutters get the tyre off pretty quick if you ask me... just cut the bead / side wall 1inch and done
