EAST LINDSEY PARISH #30: TETNEY
Tetney - “Taete’s Island”
Here’s a village which really doesn’t need to do much to put itself on the map. There so much to Tetney, its unbelievable! Located on the A1031 - the coastal road from Cleethorpes to Mablethorpe, Tetney sits just to the West of the Prime Meridian, and its teeming with history, although a lot of it is fairly recent. Once an island surrounded by marshes - a fact that’s reflected in its name, Taete’s Island, over the past couple of centuries this village has been important industrially, mainly for two reasons.
Several famous people have lived here - to namedrop a few, they include singer Ella Henderson, weather presenter Keeley Donovan and comedian Roy Chubby Brown.
