- Join me for walk around Cleethorpes, showing you that Cleethorpes is not the worst seaside resort in the uk, and also check out my food review at Papas Fish & Chip Restaurant, and also bringing back memories of the Wonderland Amusement Park which had a Big Dipper....
There was a bigger queue on the pier when it was a nightclub and music venue
In the 1950's we used to take day trips to Cleethorpes by train from Scunthorpe. In my mind Ross castle was nearer to the railway station than it is now. Remember that there was a lake with motor boats under the big dipper at Wonderland. Also stayed for the odd week in the Fitties at Humberstone. Remember cockling there and filling large buckets with them which we would cook back at the Bungalow. Great piles of empty Cockle shells by each property at the Fitties. I sheltered from the rain at the enterance to the pier listening to the end of the England v Germany world cup final in 1966. The pier had the Radio commentary playing on loud speakers.

You wouldn’t want to be eating the cockles now off the beach, you would finish up somewhere else.
Brilliant resort, had many happy times there, there is always room for improvement but it’s a great place to have fun and relax.
Cleethorpes is great
I’m old enough to have been on the Big Dipper
The people are it’s best asset
Sea view street really nice shops etc
Steels is the best for fish n chips in my opinion but Papas v good
We went to the Mermaid fish n chips shop next to the Train stop, really good fish n chips, the bowling 🎳 place is good too.
Not many of the vessels apart from the ferries actually go to Hull. It’s Grimsby, Immingham/Killingholme, Goole etc.

Papas isn't even in Cleethorpes tip 10 for Fish and Chips, it's frozen tourist junk
Steel's and becketts are the 2 best 👌
Ocean bar and the leaking boot is better for fish and chips
Yes Steels is still there. Locals preferer it to Papas. Papas are from Hull! Armed forces weekend attracts over a quarter of a million visitors and runs over the full weekend.
Thank you for showing how great where I live is!! I do miss pleasure island though, definitely brought more tourists in and was something fun to do on a weekend!
Use to holiday at cleethorpes on humberstone fitties in the little chalets and we ended up buying a caravan. Always loved walking around the sunday market near beachcomber and catching the little train back to fitties Camp. The same train and tracks are now at skeggy neil and the train is called jurassic and I'll be checking it out when we come to skeggy the first week in august. Great memories for me at cleethorpes pal 👍 👌

its because they got rid of thorpe park and rides and papas is so expensive and nowhere to sit when we went its more of an elderly persons quiet place to go beach is decent tho cant dispute that and the pier is nice i was here with my dad he loved it here before he died xx

Cleethorpes isn't a seafront town its a river ! River humber want seafront got go further south
Skegness was rated worst seaside resort and it’s rightfully the worst awful place as is ingoldmells and chapel
its nice when High Tides and its shit when Low tides

I’ve asked a few times just lately about when I will be doing the next paranormal video and my niece has be told about a haunted graveyard that’s just been discovered in so woods and there’s been loads of sightings of strange things…

Need more investment here. Pleasure island shut down that's what attracted loads of people, plus someone is planning on putting nothing fun and exciting there now and that's definitely not on as that site for as long as I remember as has been something fun.
From stock car racing, to the zoo, to the leisure park then pleasure island

My first memory of Cleethorpes was seeing anti aircraft guns wired off on the beach. Don’t believe Cleethorpes is worse than Redcar.
I agree with that, Cleethorpes is the one worst UK Seaside Towns ever. Its got the dirty River Humber, you got depressing Town of Grimsby, right next door, or I call it Cod Town. Along with Mablethorpe and Skegness they are also the worst UK Seaside Towns in my opinion. I prefer the Yorkshire Coast Line like Saltburn, Whitby, Scarborough and Filey. I'm sorry but every one is entitled to their own personal statements.

It is definitely up with the worst nothing there to be fair some rides a peir and beach but none of them are that good not much else to be fair half a day here does ya how people can stay any longer is beyond me but each to their own I suppose.. mind you as you can see the sea isn’t far away if you like walking about 2 mile 😂😂… only good thing when I last went is that the fish and chips on the peir were really good I have to admit that .( got to be cod tho for me ).. straight up from the peir there’s a Small uphill with a chip shop on the corner and that’s okay too tbf

Nathan everything you’ve said in your comments is so wrong. Normally individual opinion is fine but having lived here all my life I’d like to think mine is more valid and better informed. I was in Blackpool last weekend and that’s an absolute cess pit! (Altho’ I loved the nightlife) I can only presume you’re a yorkie? Firstly, it is far from the worst place to visit. The video showed how lovely the place is and there are far more things to do that are not featured. We have a multi screen cinema, a bigger bowling alley further up, a golf course, boating lake, 2 football clubs and the nightlife and vast amount of pubs and bars are visited by folk from all over the country. The amount of people you speak to that have ended up moving here permanently says it all really. Also, you prefer cod? We are a haddock loving community as locals who work or have family working in the fishing industry get to see what’s in the cod 1st hand. Its riddled with worms. It’s a poor man’s fish to us but I suppose we are spoilt having haddock on tap so to speak but I don’t know anyone who would touch cod with a barge pole. I’ve been to hundreds of places around the country and it’s all cod because it’s cheap and easier to get hold of so maybe you’re used to it. If you ask for cod in our chippies it’s frowned upon! And lastly, the chippy you are saying is good(straight up from the pier) is the Seaway and, again, is known by the locals as the worst chippy in the town but because of its position it’s ideal for visitors. No one local uses it. Best chippies locally are Steels, Ernie Becketts, Ocean fish bar, pips, great white to name but a few. Please don’t take offence to anything I’ve written I can only say what I know matey hopefully you have a better visit next time. Great video btw pal keep up the good work!
