1965 was the first year for crew cabs on Ford F-series pickups but were only special orders at the time & were only offered on F-250 & F-350 models. In other words, the factory didn't produce any unless a customer asked the dealer to order one. They weren't in mass production until 1967.
Big fan of the 65-66 ford trucks. Still have my first one. Mine is a 6 cyl truck. Originally a 240 3spd truck. Over the years, a T-18 4spd and fresh garage built 300 was installed. Tuff as nails combination that did pretty much everything it shouldn't have been able to do!!!
I have a '65 F100. 2WD...2door. I have the dark green color (whats left of it). I ran 240's for39 yrs. The last one was 27 yrs old. Gave 169,000 miles. Trouble free the whole time. I was real strict on the 3,000 mile limit on oil & filter. I had a 300 put in nine months ago. Even stronger motor. I put a set of the efi exh mnflds on the 240 two yrs before retiring it. Wow ! the engine could breath so much better. It was stunning...the differenc that made. I of course put the efi"s on the 300. I should say there are two little plain jane mufflers then two short runs that turn before the pass rear tire. Less back pressure. Is yours a 240 or 300? Either way, they will give reliable service. All the best, Pete 🙂
You're right about people not knowing they existdo you know they even made some in the 50s?But they were for the military.I don't think it ever was marketed for the public. The first one I ever seen was on a car lot up in tennessee maple motors and then I began to do a little research
If that was mine I wouldnt change anything about the drive train at all. An inframe rebuild of that engine would be fine. It should be left all original as it is now
May I make a suggestion ?? A popular Two tone color option for 1965 was Dark Navajo Beige & Light Navajo Beige my dad had this very pretty color on his New 65 F/ 150 back in the day I wish you would consider it for your make over project 😊
Hi I've been in touch with someone about buying it. It's not available at this point and if it does become available the person I've been talking to will get first option to purchase it.
I would leave it alone just as it is on molested most of those were government rigs either highway department or military whether it be the Marines the Air Force Navy army forestry service not very many of those like you said in the civilian realm
Don’t listen to these people that talk about patina I leave patina in my fruit of the looms or BVDs when I make an anual drop of used clothes at a Goodwill or Salvation Army or Navy or AirForce or Marine or Coastgaurd drop box
Love that thing! Just like it is.

Beautiful truck as is.
Yeah she is pure beauty!! All I'm going to do is knock off the primer areas, kill the rust and seal it in a few coats of clear to preserve it

You could also be a fire department rig bends its red
Needs a newer 3/4 4×4 chassis and a Cummins 5.9 needs a frame off restoration too
