@jeffhowser1820 And you can pretty much re do the interior , upholstery, headliner, dash, door panels, carpet, for around 2 to 3 thousand. I'm a lifelong Southern California native . I have my parents 58 Cadillac they bought in 1960, and a 68 Mustang I bought in 1977 my senior year of high school. I've had both cars interiors redone in correct fabrics, grains, factory correct colors. The turned out totally awsome, like new. Both cars were purchased new here, and have just a little light brown surface rust on the undercarriage here and there. Nothing that needs intervention. Now, the political situation here, that's another story...😵💫
I'll raise you Low Buck Garage and Buffs Garage, lol. Junkyard Digs goes without saying I suppose, but I said it anyway. Imagine the network of just pure mechanical greatness if these guys all formed a coalition of sorts. Sharing vehicles, subscribers, multipart video tie ins. Each choosing a different day to release content in conjunction with each other. It would be so cool for them and us.
My uncle had one just like it but was red other than that the same car that I rode in many many times as a young kid. He said that 352 engine was a great engine back then and it took us all over the USA traveling when I was on summer vacation from school.
These cars you salvage are the cars my friends and I had for starter cars in our teens, We used to love those big back seats at the drive in movies. If I knew I was going to live so long I would have taken better care for myself and all my old cars. Love your channel but I can't understand how those rodents make a nest out of cactus thorns. Keep em coming.
Dad had a 60 Galaxie. Was x police car, had the big V8 with a 3 speed automatic. Still had the spot lights on it. He got it at the Air base where he worked. Air men shipping out would sell their stuff cheap rather than pay to transport, especially if going over seas. The motor had a miss, like the one above. He sold it to a guy who destroyed it. Never got paid. I wanted it but still had a Few years before getting a permit. The project above will need the motor and trans pulled and gone through, at the miles on it, with the old leaded gas, it'll need the works to be a decent driver again. Too far to chase for me. But a solid body, for a start.
I had a black Sunliner, red interior, same engine. It was a neat car, but that was back in ‘72. Rockers are the first thing to rust on those. Cochise. Good band. Their hit “Love’s Made a fool Of You” would have been cranking out of the AM radio in my ‘60 Sunliner in ‘72
Great car! Nothing beats a turquoise and rust patina on a big old land yacht. These big old early 60s Galaxies are amazing machines. Many an old hot rod ran the Y Block engine here in New Zealand back in trhe day.
You and your dad always find the very best projects. I think I started watching your channel with the 60 Impala. Now you're on a 60 Ford. Can't wait for the trifecta with a 60 Plymouth
That town is straight out of a western movie!! Love it!! The car sounded as though it could've done with a fresh set of plugs in it, sounded as though it was running on around 4 cylinders only. Straight body on her though👍🏻👍🏻
I had a '63 Galaxie with the 390 when I was 16. I remember the transmission would kick into low gear whenever it felt like it. Those C-4s and C-6s do not like being gummed up. This is a great video and I like the car a lot. Even though it's a four door, it has potential. Those 352s were great engines.
It was built at the old Ford plant which is now Milpitas CA "The Great Mall" I'm here in San Jose which is directly next to it. Love your channel bro. Greetings from Sunny San Jose Calif. 🤙
@@theetravisb it closed 2 years before I was born . I remember as a kid in the early 90s they had a few fully restored Ford's on display for years. I believe they removed the cars in the early 2000s when I hit highschool. Now you don't see really anything of ford. The Milpitas plant employed about 6,000 workers, and produced a variety of Mercury cars and Ford cars and F-series trucks from 05/17/1955 until 05/20/1983. The factory was located on a 160-acre tract. This huge facility was adaptively reused after 1994 as the Great Mall of the Bay Area Shopping Mall.
I really like this body style and would paint it like a Mayberry sheriff car. My cousin has a 64 Country Squire that my late uncle bought new that has been sitting about 40yrs.. It needs a lot of tlc but it's all there and as far as I know mostly rust free as it is a Texas car.
I lived in Cochise from 61 to 72. Then Marana until I graduated in 79. My Fad farmed the property where the McDonalds is now across the road from where you are now. Maybe your Dad remembers the Pepper Tree Ranch barn in Cortaro. Spent several Dollarsbin the Cortaro Store. Dated a girl that lived on Carolane Drive.
I moved here in ,87 there was no Mc Donald's back then right where your talking about. Carol Ann is a beautiful street they are on a well there and get all the water they want. Thanks for commenting. Rick Travis's dad
Definitely a success, y’all did it. Cool car. Thanks for the tour of the town. I remember seeing those exact phone books when I was a kid in 2005…back when they still dropped them at your doorstep.
The trailer is probably a '63 Terry. There were a few trailers that did the curved window thing during that time period...Holiday House, Terry, Aloha Worlds Fair model...maybe Field and Stream. Even though the car is running, it sounds terrible! Pretty major gallup to it(during cranking).
I like the fact you blow it out before trying to mess with it not like the other yutubers wen they start trying to start it egg corns leaves on the engine 🇺🇲
I must be getting old. Those pay phones were considered a modern upgrade from the old phone booth that I grew up with and I'm sure your dad did too. Now even that pay phone is obsolete. Everyone has a smart phone now!
From what I could make out 54A = Galaxie Town Sedan. KN1 = Sultan Turquoise and Diamond Blue. 37 = Turquoise cloth and vinyl. 23K = October 23, 1959. 4 = Cruise-O-Matic. 8 = 2.91:1 rear. Funny it's a upper trim level, with manual steering and brakes.
Manual steering and four wheel drum brakes would have been standard back in 1960. Power steering would have been considered a luxury that most folks would have bypassed due to the extra cost. Power options were seldom found at that juncture in time except on the most high-end models. Folks were far more frugal back in the day!
Another great video! The 60 Ford was always one of my favorites. I think it was a pretty car. I hope she gets brought back to life. Cochise looks like a hopping place….I work in a small town post office, but I can’t say we have a pay phone, and I have more post office boxes than that one. Looking forward to the next video!

Very cool car, a rust free 1960 Ford is super rare. Just looking at them would make them rust. Those things rusted everywhere! My 60 was from New Mexico and we had to replace floors the rust was terrible. That part on the floor is a radio delete plate. Great video!
Man, that's the kind of old town I'd love to live around some day. Arizona is too hot for me, but there's plenty up in Wyoming and Montana too. Neat old ghost towns or nearly so... everybody leaves places like that. I'm a truck driver, so it don't much matter where I live. About time people move back into one.
For 1960 that was a well equipped car. A/C was about all it was missing. Remember in 1960 power windows and door locks were only in Cadillac’s and Lincoln’s. It has automatic transmission, radio and a clock. You can put 2024 expectations on 60 year old items.

Rust free bodies and engines that turn after sitting for years! Too bad the sun destroys the interiors!
