Making Flashy Gemstone Cabochons | Labradorite

  • Join me as I turn very bad "slabs" of labradorite, into magical cabochons! I take these poorly made slabs and re-slab them, stencil shapes into them, trim them, dop them, and then go through the processes of polishing them. Not all of the cabs turned out perfectly, but we did get four or five very beautiful and flashy cabs that can now be set into jewelry! All the equipment I used in this video is linked below :)

Another question, from whom do you buy your rough stock. The Auzzie agates you cut. Fannnntastic! I’m newly back to lap work.
Rounding up tools and rough stock.
      Love your information and videos!

I just watched a video of you cutting Bulgarian agates and struggling to grind them down. You might want to try a belt sander with regular 200-400 grit sanding belts. I live in Louisiana and get Crowley ridge agates out of the smaller river systems here and occasionally others from further north. I have a few I am almost certain are from around your area. I have family in Market and have found agates in lake superior before and the difference between them and what we have here in Louisiana are night and day. But yea, belt sander will grind them down quick.

      Labradorite
-most powerful crystal to sheild misfortune
-magical and spiritual, for intuition and connecting to higher realms
-used for synchronicities.. being at the right place at the right time
It needs first to be cleansed, charged and programmed properly

The nostalgia smell is so accurate!! It reminds me of kindergarten every time i turn the dop station on! We had some kind of crayon melting thing in our classroom and it smelled just like the dop station

I made jewelry years ago and I am beginning the process of giving it another try. I took Continuing Education classes at a local college and I loved learning about it. The instructor had the same machinery in his shop and while I backed away from learning much about it, I think I could give it a try now. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and showing your expertise in the cabochon forming process. They are very nice and I definitely appreciate your tips. You have a very good eye and the knowledge to make it work. Beautiful stones!

Hi Tyler maybe you can fill those chips with super glue its clear and who knows if you do it right maybe no one will notice. Or the other thing you might try is cut a piece of the rock off of the larger one and you might still be able to salvage the larger. This is only an idea only.

Do you know why labradorite cabs are generally cut so thickly? Is it to help preserve the depth of the iridescence? Some cabs I've seen are almost too chunky to set. Just curious, and thank you for the video! Labradorite is my favorite stone.

As an Artist, I can appreciate your talents so much!! You're amazing and awesome to watch bring out the inner beauty of the stones which you design with. I truly admire the expenses which you have put into your workshop and inventory. Your knowledge takes a long time to develop into your own use and professional talents. My father was a professional picture framer, so I know the passion, and time, and hard work it takes to stay dedicated to your finalized inventory of sales products. Not everyone truly appreciates the beauty of rocks as a lot of us do, but I love the way you truly do. I pray God watches over you, and you never accidentally get hurt while working somehow. Best wishes to you.✝️😌🙏🌹
