Yes from the start. Dutch started losing his shit in the beginning of the game after the boat heist, and going by some dialogue long before that. Dutch van der Linde was a huge hypocrite, as Milton rightly pointed out when he came to camp. We see the story through Arthur's POV, and he sees Dutch almost as a father figure who he followed with some occasional grumbling, but without much questioning. I think Dutch was was nothing more than a common robber and cutthroat who was good at presenting himself and making speeches, however much he might have thought of himself as a modern Robin Hood, and his insanity and hypocrisy is really reflective of the story and themes of the game overall. Micah was already whispering in his ear at this point, too, as some dialogue suggests the boat heist was his idea all along.

For someone who repeatedly said "I prefer Red Dead Redemption 1", both in the video and the deacription, he sure seems to forget a few details RDR1 eludes to/get them wrong. On the topic of RDR1: If they were to remake RDR1, they could keep it's story mostly the same and use the remake label to let them add in details about the other surviving/dead gang members. John could and should remember Hosea, Arthur and Micah. They had some of the biggest impacts on the gang.

@@markcook3913 It is true. Micah is not relevant to Rdr1. Nobody from rdr2 needs to be mentioned in a rdr1 remake. Besides Micah didn’t go crazy. He was crazy since Dutch met him
Yeah, but RDR 1 didn't mention John's scar every mission. This game often talks about how everything went wrong in Blackwater but it never bothers to explain what the hell did happen.
@@tonmai2541 also, when it comes to what really happened on that ferry, Arthur Morgan is just as in the dark as the rest of us. So not telling about blackwater immediately is kinda the point.
Crow Hogan it’s discussed at least once, but it’s limited because Arthur himself isn’t exactly sure. He mentions “Dutch killed a girl in a bad way...” to (I think) Charles. And Agent Milton too mentions that a young woman had her head blown apart by Dutch.
Sadie not being hunted by John has 2 explanations. From a developer perspective, she wasn’t designed From a lore standpoint. She was a nobody, the Pinkerton had information on the gang during black water. Sadie wasn’t a member, she also wasn’t a gun like John, Arthur, or javier. You can use this same reasoning on Tilly Jackson and the 2 other females in the gang.
Micah was feeding them info on the gang since after Guarma. Sadie was an active member of the gang by that point. Her and Charles not being hunted during the first game makes no sense.

22:31 Micah's pointing out that there's a rat makes perfect sense. Sooner or later, someone was going to figure out that there was a rat, and report it to Dutch. Since Micah was the one who reported it, it pretty much eliminates him as a suspect in Dutch's eyes, for the reason of "Who would rat themselves out?" Micah also now has the ability to point fingers at anyone and accuse them of being a snitch, and Dutch will find his word to be credible since Micah is the one who told him about the snitch in the first place. It's very advanced reverse psychology.
That's exactly what I thought was happening too. I don't know why so many people think it's a dumb move, when it's actually pretty genius and manipulative.
@@billyhenerson2871 Ya'll do realize that because Micah made that accusation that Arthur *immediately* became suspicious of him right? It's just Arthur couldn't act on it because the game didn't want *us* to find out yet. And, ironic, was when we're first introduced to the characters at the start of the game; I was IMMEDIATELY suspicious of Micah. I knew he was going to fuck everything up somehow. And no, I didn't play the first game so my only knowledge of it was extremely vague. I knew the main character dies in a final shootout with the law then his son avenges (or I guess also redeems) him. That's it. I got RDR2 because it was on sale. And I knew it was a prequel, so I had no problem playing it before the first one. Going into it like this leads to some great discoveries. It took quite a while for me to realize who john was. I initially just thought he was nothing special compared to anyone else in the group. And when I played Dominos with Abigail I thought to myself 'she's really cute, but man is she a bitch'. The point of saying all that is that I thought the game was really great overall but there were quite a few moments where the dialog and interactions felt extremely scripted, rather than authentic. One of the best examples is in the first part of the epilogue when john goes to the rival families farm, and after you fist fight that one douche, you are left with the "choice" to shoot him or not. But if you do nothing for like 30 seconds to a minute, john shoots him anyhow.
So, you're complaining about the mystery being taken out of how John got his scars ruins it but you're saying we should know what happened with Blackwater? Okay.
It’s because John’s scars aren’t mentioned in nearly every mission. Blackwater is mention so many times and even other characters don’t know what happened.
I replayed the first Red Dead Redemption recently. John never said that it was a bank robbery that made him leave the gang. He just says that it's a robbery.
@@zacharyl657bananas7 John never specified that it was a bank robbery that made him leave the gang. All he told Landon Ricketts was that "it was a robbery gone wrong."
8:14 Literally a few seconds later, Arthur *ASKS THE SAME GOD DAMNED THING* and she says that John is useless. I never comment about fails in a sin video...But this was just ridiculous.
In fairness to John's facial scars, flavor dialogue in gameplay alludes to John's injury. If you get attacked by wolves then John will occasionally say "How do you think I got these scars!" The fact that the sequel actually acknowledge flavor dialogue of all things, and didn't discard something most players wouldn't hear or remember as non-canon is impressive attention to detail in my opinion.
@@krimsonk-9478 I was simply alluding to how most game sequels don't remember optional dialogue/scenes. Metal Gear in particular has a host of optional codecs that have highly relevant plot details, and sequels act like those conversations never happened. The fact that Rockstar remembered flavor dialogue in gameplay instead of discarding it is impressive in my opinion.
...yet they totally forgot about John saying he had a daughter. R* games always do this: they show an incredible attention to detail in some areas while completely dropping the ball in others.
When I see this video, I'm reminded of how wonderfully this game was made because the person apparently missed dialog in cutscenes that explain half the sins in this video.
When I watch these videos, I'm reminded of how stupid the average gamer is because no one can tell that this is purposefully pedantic and nitpicky for comedy, yet some people cannot stand seeing their favorite games get any amount of criticism so they take them way too seriously.
@@v0rtexbeater You're entitled to your viewpoint, man; There's a distinction between well-crafted criticism and simply taking anything badly because you didn't read the narrative. While the criticisms of the game play are entirely valid and understandable, it is by no means flawless. All I'm getting at is that's not satire or comedy making shit up, and having a bad opinion for his own faults.
Half or more of these plot sins are explained in the freaking plot during dialogue and I know you notice them, since you seem to know every little plot detail
This! During the game John explains to Arthur why he left and he mentions he had a daughter that died and that it was just rough on him and Abigail so they needed to just step away and do something with themselves
21:26 Tuberculosis is a disease that is stuck in the lungs, if the lungs get in a physical contact (in this case Arthur's kidnapping) the disease will start spreading and that's why Arthur had symptoms. One sin off, so that would be 190 sins. Thanks for reading this.
Also, he says he got it a few weeks ago. This is untrue. There were multiple parts in the game where it said a few weeks later or even a few months later. They even spent somewhere around 2 months on guarma as stated in chapters 5 and 6
I actually think getting attacked by wolves is a pretty good explanation as to how John got his scars. Realistically, that makes a lot of sense, and would still be a pretty badass story to tell. If someone in real life got scars from a wolf, I would think that's badass.
Never understand prowl complaining about button mapping, like bro, there’s a whole setting tab for that. I also quite like the A run button because it’s easy to run with and fits the game Much more.
The fact that you did not remove a magnitude of sins for the mission when the whole gang is riding down the path to the Braithewait manor is unforgivable. The scene/music/feeling is one of my favorite moments in the game.

I know right? Like he complains about wanting to know the biggest mystery of the game they set up since the first game but then when the scars are revealed it's too much
It's two complete different sins. Learning how John got his scar is not important to the story. Dartigan just says that it ruins the mystery of it by being so cliché. A fucking wolf scar. Wow, how original. I would also have liked it remained a mystery. Blackwater, however, is essential to the plot. It is the main reason the whole gang needed to get away as for being criminal. Seeing everything Arthur and the crew does to the entire country in the whole game, it is justified wanting to know what happened back there, that didn't already happened after. Knowing you commit all the crime possible in a map that isn't even that big, while never getting caught make me say: "Ok. So why did they need to leave Blackwater if they can get away with being enemy of the country ?" Considering that the said-place isn't bigger than the biggest city in RDR2. On is not important to the plot and is told. The other is essential for the story and the coherence but isn't explained.
@@layle0692 ^^^ what Chandler Burse said. And also the "not so big map" is massive. 3:32 Sin 14: it doesn’t matter. There is no battery and the electrical shock is powered only from a swift, downward motion of the plunger. This means the detonator can’t store energy. 8:08 Sin 35: She HAS asked John to do something with Jack. Many times. It seems like it’s half of the camp dialogue. 9:05 Sin 40: Yes! Why don’t we try to arrest a famous gunslinger known to defeat tens of well equipped, well trained lawmen. Also to note that he does most of this in less than a fraction of a second, and can cure 15 bullet wounds with a bottle of moonshine? 12:06 Sin 56: Arthur was working as a deputy for the Grays. Giving the moonshine for free held up the saloon’s income for 30 minutes. The Grays would then find out about the hand playing both sides, but the gang obviously needed to hide that.
Bro sin 35 makes zero sense at all, he complains and asks why John can’t take Jack fishing, and literally in the same cutscene, Arthur asks that and Abigail explains why.
The death of the horse was emotionally and more than just a "pre-ordered horse" if you stayed with the horse since the beginning, it's like losing a part of your family. Hell I finished the Hamish side missions with Arthur where he let's you keep Beull and even that tugged at my heart when it was Buell that died, in that moment it would be Arthur thanking not only the horse but also Hamish.
2:36 They didn't know where John was and were tracking him from the campsite they found. They also don't know the area they're in so there is no real reason that they'd logically go through the easier path.
Sadie stays with the gang because her house, along everything she owned, burned to a crisp. She has literally nowhere else _to_ go. The act Hosea puts on in the bar with the moonshine is so that the Grays don’t recognise Arthur who is doing deputy work for them. He literally explained it when they were riding to the bar. This is just my interpretation regarding Bronte’s invitation to the Mayor’s party. I think he did that just to swing his dick around in Dutch’s face about how powerful he is right before he fucks him over. His attitude when you kidnap him right before his death pretty much confirms that for me. I’ll actually give that “everything important is in the middle of the book cliche” a pass because it’s literally bookmarked with a big ass piece of paper, signifying that page is actually important. Details, man. John getting left behind isn’t that much of a retcon actually. John says to Arthur that Dutch could have stopped him from getting arrested if he wanted to but he just abandoned him. Not the first time in this game either. One was leaving him behind to get arrested at the bank, and then he got left behind to die during the train robbery.
and she basicly has no one to go to if you go to the Cabin in colter were John rests up after being helped down the mountain. Arthur can ask her if she has someone she can go to after they get down from the mountain and she says that she dosen’t.
@Chandler Burse Mexico hated him more than the US at first, but I doubt he's more wanted in Mexico than in the states after committing multiple massacres over 3 towns with the gang. They could go undercover and lay low in Mexico because I doubt they'd come after him anymore than the Pinkertons did in America.
Don’t you just love it when he sins this game because a character says or does something nonsensical or awful, and everyone else around them acknowledges it? Makes perfect sense to me, I mean who ever heard of writing a character to be that way? Absurd!
The Wanderer I loved it aswell, I loved how linear and straight foward it was compared to the rest of the game. It was a very nice part that ultimately leads up to a very satisfying ending. This game is a masterpiece,
I think you missed the point on Ditch killing the old woman and not taking back the gold. It was there to symbolize that he didn't kill her because he thought she would betray them. The fact that he didn't take the gold back meant that this killing of his was purely for his satisfaction. If he killed her and then took the gold that would be his motivation, but the fact that he killed her anyway and didn't take the gold bar back was purely because he was officially a psychopath.
Dutch wanting to keep John in prison is due to his paranoia about him believing John may be betraying him thanks to Micah convincing him about a rat in the gang. So when he does actions that will bring the law down on them yet yells at Arthur for breaking out John for the same reason, it's not so much a contradiction and more an excuse to not wanting him around
It's made clear that Dutch is suspicious of John and Abigail during chapter 5. Dutch tells Arthur while walking through the cave on the island that it's odd John was the only person the agents tried to arrest and not outright kill, and how odd Hosea was captured and not Abigail.
6:02 Kieran Duffy* 7:05 Downes* 8:15 Abigail says it's because Johns useless like 5 seconds later 10:00 She wanted to get revenge on the O'driscolls for killing her husband and she doesn't really have anywhere else to go 10:08 + 12:46 Trelawny* 14:25 I don't remember when in the game but I remember a piece of dialogue from Javier Escuela explaining that he can't go back to Mexico because the price on his head is so high

Still my favorite game! Also, the many storylines in the end actually fits with the gang elements of the story. There are many characters, and they all have they’re own perspective and personality. Makes things more real.
The sin is how “easy” a prequel can tie a connection. Instead of properly foreshadowing something, they made a connection unnecessarily connection between Jack and Ross
I don't get the line "Prequels make such poetry easy." Like, if the second game came out first and the first game was actually the second, wouldn't it be the exact same? Like don't sequels "make such poetry easy" too? Instead of: "Hey Jack killed Ross, while Ross was fishing by the river, let's have their first meeting be while Jack fishes by a river." it would have been: "Hey, you know how Jack first met Ross while Jack was fishing by a river? Let's have Jack kill Ross while HE is fishing at a river." It's like the exact same. What if it both happened in the same game? Because both decisions would have been made during the same writing process, the poetry would have been even easier to write. Like, what would make writing "such poetry" hard?

Great video but I just have 2 sin complaints. 1. The time between Arthur getting infected with TB and him showing symptoms must have been many months rather than a few weeks. Considering they shifted locations twice and went through that entire Guarma debacle. 2. I wouldn't say it's too much of a cover shooter where you just stay down and wait for enemies to pop up. I prefer go FPS style and move around whenever I can.

Dutch's actions being irrational isn't really a game sin. It's exactly what they are meant to be.
not from the start, he develops nicely later, as mentioned in the video.

Sin 45: Sadie does have a reason to join the gang. She wants to get revenge on the O'Driscolls for killing her husband.
And on top of that, she says later that her normal life is over and that she wouldn't wanna go back to one, so she stays with the gang

Dhurba International that’s true but when sadie joins the gang they are going after the O’Driscolls anyway
Arthur mentions that Dutch said revenge is a fool's game, but he was also working towards taking revenge against Colm O'Driscoll...
Sadie not being hunted by John has 2 explanations.
From a developer perspective, she wasn’t designed
From a lore standpoint.

Micah's pointing out that there's a rat makes perfect sense.
Thank You Kind Sir
That's exactly what I thought was happening too. I don't know why so many people think it's a dumb move, when it's actually pretty genius and manipulative.
There’s also a theory that Milton said that to cause trouble in the gang. That he lied to tear it apart
So he does the fart trick
So, you're complaining about the mystery being taken out of how John got his scars ruins it but you're saying we should know what happened with Blackwater? Okay.
It’s because John’s scars aren’t mentioned in nearly every mission. Blackwater is mention so many times and even other characters don’t know what happened.

I’m so glad I found this comment. He definitely has very few lines, but certainly more than one.

2:36
They didn't know where John was and were tracking him from the campsite they found. They also don't know the area they're in so there is no real reason that they'd logically go through the easier path.
“I gave you all I had...I did”
Yep that pretty much made it my favourite game of all time
Sadie stays with the gang because her house, along everything she owned, burned to a crisp.
Sadie could leaved when they reached west elizabeth
lo ko why would she do that? She clearly changed, she became a different person, she didn't wanted to start a life again, she liked being an outlaw.
and she basicly has no one to go to if you go to the Cabin in colter were John rests up after being helped down the mountain. Arthur can ask her if she has someone she can go to after they get down from the mountain and she says that she dosen’t.
The point of the video is not picking like this. It's a joke; you don't have to pull it apart
I fail to see how misinterpreting and having lack of knowledge on game is a joke
14:22 Yeah, he could, but isn't Javier a wanted man in Mexico?
He is wanted in Mexico and reward is 1000 dollars, you can find his bounty poster in Shady Belle
He is but they're all wanted in the US as well. And Dutch does them no favors with his idiotic "plans"
He alongside the gang, is wanted over many territories that Dutch still keeps insisting on going back to, by that logic they could've gone to Mexico.
