Give Jim Jackson his own show.
Im sure them old 80's 90's nba story would sell
💯
He killed this segment.
JJ is like a great vet from hosting
This is the best explanation of how a team can be totally mismanaged for all the wrong reasons
So so right
The most impressive thing about Jimmy Jackson is that hairline hasn't moved at all since 1992.
It's a man unit
It doesn’t happen to everyone.
@@nakho3550LMFAOOOOOOO idk if it is or not
But this was hilarious 🤣😭
After finding out Jalen rose hairline was an illusion I trust nobody lol
@@nakho3550Its not bro😩
I Been cutting his hair for 6 years
Jimmy Jackson (I'm from Ohio, he'll always be Jimmy) is GROSSLY underrated. A fabulous player and great guy.
🌑🌇🎷Jimmy Jackson Pass to Vince Carter 👑🖤🍊
Ohio St great
I remember going to see Jimmy playing in highschool in Toledo we would say he is going pro.
REAL TALK,,,JIM JACKSON WAS A SERIOUS BALLER!!!!!🏀🏀🏀💯💯💯
Shaquille O’Neal & Kenny Anderson were the only 2 reasons why he wasn’t national high school MVP..
This segment is pure gold. They need to have Jim fill in whenever rich is on holiday
For real! The first fill in that comes in kills it!
Jimmy needs his own show. He’s great

So sweet in NCAA
@@miskwainini You took the words out of my mouth. I was a Michigan kid in High school during that time and although we had the Fab Five (Freshmen), JJ was the purest scorer in college that year. He was a real problem.
JJ makes a great point about his injuries. Whenever you see one of the players on your favorite team struggling, 9/10 times they've probably playing through an injury.
Younger people don't realize how difficult it was to get your story out pre-social media/smartphones. There aren't gatekeepers like there were back then.
Thank you, Jim Jackson, for talking about this at length. I have been a Mavs season ticket holder since just before the Jason Kidd draft in 1994, and I am glad to have a clearer picture of what happened back then.
Too bad we didn't finish seeing the 3j's finish out there careers in Dallas
JJ is right on that particular team not having a chance, management, coaching, and injuries.
And you believe him?? Scott Brooks still got that check for sticking to that story!
Please get your own show Jim Jackson! You have the talent!
Thanks for clarifying Jim Jack…still telling my kids Toni Braxton broke up the 3 Js. 🤣🤣🤣
NEVER LET THE TRUTH GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD STORY
@@doitall36😂😂
I know because it sounds good but I still believe he aint telling everything😂
😂😂😂
😂
That was hysterical when Jim was describing his "stock" going up LMAO
We waited almost 30 years for this. 😝 and Derek Harper was the face of the franchise in NBA Jam.
Yeah the Mavs smoothly transitioned from
Derek Harper to Jason Kidd...they always had a great history with point guards
LOL...Hilarious
Derek Harper wasn't there..do your research
@@user-bp1nk3ip9w - Derek Harper was on the original NBA Jam with the Mavs in '93
Had the opportunity to see Toni Braxton in the studio, but went to dinner with Scott Brooks. Crazy
I wonder how much he paid Scott to stick to that story...LOL
@@jehuslay5238 right? 😆
He lied we know
Great interview. Mr. Jackson should have his own show with athletes and celebs as guests.
Good storytelling (truth-telling) by Jim Jackson. Thanks, good brother!
Wow ! I grew up my entire life believing that Toni Braxton story 😳
Same here family, couldn't tell me she wasn't the reason that team fell apart.
Me too. Toni Braxton was-GORGEOUS-and-SEXY-back then. My eye candy-LOL.
I think we all did!😩
Same here! Hahahaha!!

The funniest thing about these stories is there always a steve kerr, scotty brooks, or brian scalenbrine random pop up in these historic events. 😆

It helps to have a cool yte dude around, sometimes
Much respect to jim cleaning everything up as man in conversation
Damn that was gold! Like Jim Jackson even more.
Damn... I'm 43 and never heard the true story til today. I need to hear more from Jimmy. This was cool
Man Toni was so fine back then I would have fell out with my own family
😂😂
T.j. Is on fire with that “empires fall” intro
I remember Toni saying that on a talk show back then.
And that Bad News Brown t shirt!
I've always been a fan of Jimmy Jackson, even as a Michigan fan.
Dude was a str8 baller. Really wanted to see him have more success while he was playing. Really appreciate this candid interview 100%. Definitely appreciate him as a broadcaster as well.
Big ups to Rich and the fellas
Blessings
Played against Jim Jackson in high school and he owned us, he hit for 42 points, Toledo Macomber vs Lorain high....he went on to greatness at thee' Ohio State buckeyes
I seen him play against Toledo Libbey he was a Monster
It's just Ohio State. I hate this THEE stuff I think they did that to rib Ohio University. No one thinks about Ohio University outside of the State of Ohio. Imagine if the The University of Florida or Florida State indulge in that nonsense. And they are known throughout the land.
Having been a fan of the Mavs since basically Day 1, even went to school with the old GM Norm Sonju's son David and played soccer with him, I go back to Derek Harper, Rolando Blackmon, Sam Perkins, Brad Davis, Mark Aguirre, James Donaldson, Detlef Schrempf. So of course I was hyped about Jamal, Jason & Jimmy and couldn't understand why it didn't work out.
Don't forget Roy Tarpley a rebounding machine. I'm a Lakers fan but those Mavericks teams had some talent.
@@sirjer73 they did give Showtime a good run. Roy was a monster. Too bad he got caught up in drugs & stuff. He could've had a strong career.
One of the best segments ever!
The Catfish Station, Atlanta …..Epic Times there during the Freaknic !!! 💯💯🔥🔥💯💯
Very well said Jim!!
I was in my late teens when JJ came into the league and when T. Braxton was a huge popstar; I'm glad he told us the true story of that whole sitiation. Also, I would love to hear more behind the scenes stories from former nba pros. Lastly, the rest of the panel needs to STFU when a former Pro is telling you a great story.
I seen Jim Jackson back in the day at the Rucker wit monster mash!
I got to meet Jim and take a pic with him when I was a kid. He was one of my favorite players growing up.
I remeber this very well. I just got to Dallas as a young man and this craziness was going on about 1 woman.
All these years I was asking my self why 90's Mavericks didn't work, why they traded them all and I never heard anything about Toni Braxton. It was diffrent times, no internet, news were coming much slower from USA to Europe, but it's really sad they destroyed very talented young team.
Here in Dallas, even back in the mid 90s we heard the Toni Braxton rumors.
I’m 34 and im from Michigan and I knew about this rumor lol
@@mcuthor3381 I thought they were about Spinderella or Tami Roman tho in regards to the rumors
I will not lie, Jim is one of my favorite SGs growing up, loved when he came here to Houston and Toni Braxtons' SECRETS album is an all time great in my opinion...
Man I'm glad that I got a chance to hear Jim Jackson share what really went down! The Triple J's were no joke and I just KNEW that team was gonna change the league. So to finally learn that all of what I thought was facts were speculations on TOP of speculations is just WILD!
JJ had one of the most dynamic games that would translate in any era. I'm glad that he got a chance to speak on this uninterrupted in long-form what happened. Nowadays, Jackson's a talented sports broadcaster that shares great insights and analysis. But prior to this youtube vid, whenever I would see Jim Jackson..my first immediate thought would be: Damn, Toni Braxton really did a number on that team!
Now I know better!
Loved every minute of this
Love you Jimmy!! I'm always so happy when you're on the side with a mic, I don't care to hear those who are just "fillers'" and don't know bball! Ah, the 90's I miss so much, the music, the era......and when the NBA was worth watching. Thanks for the segment, love from Indiana 😘💕
I didn't know Jim Jackson is quite the eloquent guy. He can actually have his own show.
You know he does color analysis for NBA games on TNT right ? He's a Communications Major
@@claymorekwaramba6937 didn't know that. It's the Spanish broadcast that I prefer
Still remember that 1992 "elite 8" March madness game OSU v Michigan; absolutely epic! Also remember your stint here in Houston with the Rockets. Good dude.
Great story, JJ from the 419. You are doing an awesome job bro.
Watched Jimmy as young kid at St John Arena on OSU campus before the Schott Center. Jimmy x Jay Burson was an amazing year.
Never seen Jimmy in a long form interview before. Amazing energy delivery and timing!
My man Jimmy Jackson.I went to metro index basketball camp with Jimmy Jackson.Great guy, I'm glad to see Jimmy doing big things. He's always done good things and big.Things shout out to jim.
The Toni Braxton rumor put to rest straight from the horses mouth. I was in high school back then & that rumor was everywhere, all of music publications & sports magazines. We had to actually go to the grocery store or book stand to get our "tweets" lllol.
folks love starting vulgar rumors about beautiful and known women it seems because this seems to be a common occurrence with numerous starlets
I met Jim Jackson when he played for the sixers .. Great Guy
I’ve been waiting years for the story to come out!
Derek Harper is a TRUE POINT GUARD general on the court!
I caught that “Hit the freeway”!!! 😂😂😂
Real ones know . That album flopped
I just really appreciate the Des Moines shout out 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Had no idea TBoz was from Iowa
I remember watching JJ during his Net period, always a fan on and off the court. He was always interesting and well spoken, understands the game really well.
It great to see the career growth of Jim Jackson. I still have his basketball card from his Mavs days.
This was a great interview.
Damn 3 owners? 4 coaches? Who do they think they are, The Carolina Panthers?
The were my man; the worst sports franchise of 90's. It felt like the Mavericks and Bulls were galaxies apart back then.
Good content! Good to hear from the Macman!
Jim is so much better than tons of the talking heads on the major shows.
Jim Jackson, Kidd and Mashburn were all having fantastic seasons before Jackson got hurt. He was averaging 26 pts a game and well on his way to being an all star. After his injury he wasn't the nearly same. The explosiveness and lift that he had was gone and his play fair or not seemed more cautious in years following imho. Roy Tarpley's career is the greatest "what if" in Mavericks franchise history. Jim Jackson's is the second. Imvho.
Facts
Tarpley was a 20- 20 machine unheard of at the time he was a pioneer of stretch 4 complete player
@@wadecook9608 drugs got him tho unfortunately

Great to hear from Jim Jackson... I grew up watching the Fighting Illini in the 80s/90s, remember Jim Jackson, Ricky Dudley, and crew. He's a good storyteller and needs his own show!

I would like to hear Jason Kidd's perspective.
Well, Jason being a coach now, he probably would feel it a little odd and juvenile to go into “locker room tales” at this point in his career.

Magnificent insight on the ability to handle adversity. You could see he was affected emotionally about the injuries and where it put his career. Amazing college player and a true definition of what a professional is. Good segment and excellent segue into a much-needed discussion about mental health.
Classic Jim Jackson Story!
Great breakdown
Jim Jackson was that dude...see there was a time when Big Ten basketball was the GOAT conference next to Big East. 1991-1994 (Fab 5, Big Dog, Shawn Respert, Jackson and Funderburke, Finley at Wisconsin, Willie Burton at Gophers) and Jim Jackson was that deal. Back then things was just left unsaid for the most part. And to be honest. That's not a bad rumor to be a part of...😂😂😂
He played for the Rockets as one of his 12 teams. He was so consistent and could shoot the 3. Never had to worry about JJ on the floor. Total team guy too that could do it all!
