Jim Jackson must have been annoying as hell to be traded that many times. You either have a talent that is good for trade bait, or you can't get along with people to move that many times. Seems like the latter for Mr. Jackson.
He had a reputation for being a "locker room lawyer" which isn't a positive term in the NBA. Always had an issue with something or someone. Sad cuz he had a lot of talent.
+Devin Williams> Didn't Dallas strike first? They started getting good again in those days when the Mavs took Michael Finley from the Suns and a year or two later Steve Nash also from the Suns. Thus their core guards then came from the Suns. They pimped the Suns out their coach too----- Nelly Jr. who eventually became GM who years later would take Dirk and more recently Luka. Interesting that the Mavs over the 4 year span ('91-'94) it took to acquire Jackson, Mashburn and Kidd, lost one more game than the "Process" era Sixers in the 4 years ('14-'17) it took to assemble their current team. Both are 1 and 2 for largest loss total over a 4 year period in NBA history. 254 and 253 losses.
Well yeah...most wins by a coach..part of numerous good title teams as a player and teams in different decades winning games playoff series as a coach..nelson was awful late in his career but what can you do he got denial by 2008...
There's one other factor you guys forgot. The mid-90s Mavs didn't have a veteran presence or two in the locker that could help reel in the Three Js and keep the house in order. You got three young guns with growing egos, nothing to held them in check in the midst of mediocre coaching and bad management while they had to contend with each other. How else did you all think things were gonna end? :P
Lol wtf? Why do I feel like guys from that era are way more selfish? I can't see any rookie or young guys feuding like that or having egos like that in today's game. Uh, doesn't teamwork win games?
I don't know how much info you could fine, but a Beef History on Jermaine O'Neal and Ron Artest would be fascinating. Those dudes HATED each other when they were on the Pacers.
