Jim Jackson must have been annoying as hell to be traded that many times. You either have a talent that is good for trade bait, or you can't get along with people to move that many times. Seems like the latter for Mr. Jackson.

+Devin Williams> Didn't Dallas strike first? They started getting good again in those days when the Mavs took Michael Finley from the Suns and a year or two later Steve Nash also from the Suns. Thus their core guards then came from the Suns. They pimped the Suns out their coach too----- Nelly Jr. who eventually became GM who years later would take Dirk and more recently Luka. Shawn Marion (no PG of course) helped the Mavs win a championship. He didn't go directly to the Mavs, but was out of Phoenix for only a year I believe before he went to Dallas. If Dallas hadn't pimped the Suns first these players and coach including Dirk and currently Luka may have never seen a Mav uniform.

I started the year Larry Johnson was a rookie. Pretty weak class. But 1992, 93, and 94 had amazing rookie classes. 1995 was good too. By 1996, a class people knew was loaded but nobody saw THAT coming, I was getting out of the hobby for the most part. Twelve years later I was playing catch up. Man, that year Kidd and Grant were rookies was awesome all around.

Interesting that the Mavs over the 4 year span ('91-'94) it took to acquire Jackson, Mashburn and Kidd, lost one more game than the "Process" era Sixers in the 4 years ('14-'17) it took to assemble their current team. Both are 1 and 2 for largest loss total over a 4 year period in NBA history. 254 and 253 losses.

There's one other factor you guys forgot. The mid-90s Mavs didn't have a veteran presence or two in the locker that could help reel in the Three Js and keep the house in order. The excitement for the Kidd-Jackson-Mashburn trio back then reminds me of the excitement for the Lakers' Ball-Ingram-Kuzma trio now.
Hopefully, they don't start beefing down the line.

You ought to do a Beef History about the beef between Kansas basketball coach Roy Williams and Kansas athletic director Al Bohl from 2001-2003, which led to Bohl's firing and Williams leaving for North Carolina.

Should’ve traded Jim Jackson for a centre. They would have had a threat in the paint, mashburn on the perimeter with Kidd distributing. Beef would’ve been squashed and they would have been a better team.

Mashburn was exciting to watch in his first two seasons. Dropping 50pt games like a pro. Better scorer than Jimmy Jackson flat out. Mavs really could’ve built around the three with the right coaching staff and actually signing some good bench players
