The cold 🥶 is not hard to adapt to. It's no different than adapting to summer. If you're cold, dress up more heavy. If you know you're going out, dress up right ✅️. I still have my throwback Suns Marbury jersey and wear it with pride to this very day. Wish nothing but the best to Marbury.
I'm from Minnesota. People here have a relationship to cold, that you just don't have, if you've never lived for decades in the cold. Personally, I work outside all winter, in Minnesota. We all complain about it, but we live and push on. Hearing comments from a guy like Marbury about how it's just crazy merely living in Minnesota, for us, gives us a good laugh, and reminds us, we're a lot stronger, at least in this way, than most people on earth. And that's funny! I think back to my great grandparents sometimes and wonder how they lived in Minnesota before modern heating systems in houses, or very good insulation. That's baffling to me. We live in a place where the cold kills people every year. My wife, who's from Hungary, agrees with Stephon Marbury, in thinking we're all a little crazy just for living here.
I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and I can definitely tell you that I’ve lived through some of the harsh summers you can imagine. It gets ridiculously hot here. it’s the same as growing up in Minnesota that if you’re not acclimated to it then it’s a beast to get through.

Im from Milwaukee Wisconsin right next door from Minnesota. Milwaukee got that " Man... I ain't trying to go out in that cold " Minneapolis got that "Glory Hallelujah Lord take me now cold" 💯
I grew up 40 miles east of Coney Island on Long Island. I also thought it was cold until I lived in Milwaukee from 2003 - 2007. I was ready to leave after the first winter. STEPH AIN'T LYING!! Everybody in my family busted their ass on black ice at least twice. Had to get winched outta snow three times after sliding off the road. Car door frozen shut. The Falls and Winters are too. My only gripe is Spring. As a born & raised southerner, I'm ready for Spring weather in March & April. But here, we may get 10 inches of snow. 😂 But regarding Marbury's experience, I get it. Minnesota isn't for everyone. You may have to invest in an AWD or snow tires. Me, I just put sand bags on the back of my truck during the winter and I don't have any issues. Also, NYers can’t ever leave NY without crying about how wherever they go isn’t the same as NY. So stay your ass at home! The truth is that NY has a lot of positives sure but compared to a lot of places, it isn’t better. You just want everyone else to think that it is. He wanted to go play for the Knicks from the get go and they did him dirty just like they did Carmelo. Be careful what you wish for, he would've been the legend he is China in Minnesota.
Both these guys had the perfect spot but their ego wouldn't fit. Drove them to go home and never sniff greatness again. Carmelo could have left Denver as a free agent but his ego said "NO, trade the whole Knicks line up for me, I'm the man". They both would have a chip if they stayed with the team that drafted them. Doesn't always work out, that's why I've never felt bad for Melo, he chose induvial success over the team.
I feel him. Visiting Minnesota for work was the coldest place I have ever been in my life (more than once). I seriously dont know how people do it. I hate we couldnt see the KG & Starbury Show longer.
He left Minnesota because he didn’t want to play robin to KG as Batman. Was jealous of KG new contract, demanded a trade because endorsements opportunities/ closer to family then got shipped to New Jersey and never made the playoffs there.
I only went to Minnesota to go to the Prince Museum, in Chanhassen. I am happy I made that pilgrimage, but I was happy to leave for L.A! I went in the Spring, and it was colder that it ever gets in my hometown.
Maybe not necessarily jealousy but it just gave him more of a reason to want to leave because it wasn’t like he could get more money from them than anybody else. So if that was the case and he had reservations about living there what was going to keep him there? Ultimately it’s better he told them and they were able to get some value vs him just leaving after 3 years for nothing

Bruh.. 8-month-long winters are absolutely no joke. I ain't mad at him.
Four months top in Minnesota. I've lived here for 40 years. 8 mouths, WTF?
@@mikehanzal9562 Sheeeeeid! It's cold from October to May for someone who's not used to it
I lived in Minnesota when I turned 12 til I was 15 and I agree man whole heartedly! Especially since I came from the south it was really hard for me to adjust to the area but the people was great there
I’d rather deal with triple digits than negative temperatures any day ANY DAY😂
I wouldn't. Hot weather sucks
You can add layers for the cold but you can only take so many off when it’s hot AF.
Man said negative 40 errrrday smh
You're crazy
@@klewertinthat’s no joke. There was a winter back then where nearly the entire month of January was below 0.
I still remember that big shot Marbury hit at the buzzer to win the playoff game vs the Spurs. That Suns team was raw with Marbury, Amare, Joe Johnson and Marion. They were certainly fun to watch!
New York cold enough anything colder is crazy my boy idk how ppl live in Canada either
Cool story. I too wonder how your grandparents survived that type of cold without the technology we have today. Crazy just thinking about it
I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and I can definitely tell you that I’ve lived through some of the harsh summers you can imagine. It gets ridiculously hot here. it’s the same as growing up in Minnesota that if you’re not acclimated to it then it’s a beast to get through.
The way you explain winter in Minnesota is like summer is in Texas, so you wouldn't survive here, and i wouldn't survive there 😂
@@leonidas1794 Ya, the body adapts to the heat and cold. I went to Afghanistan. I remember seeing the thermometer exceeding 125F a few times. I was like "What kind of demon place is this?!?!?!" I come back home, and 100F feels strangely tolerable. If I put you in -40F, you're probably going to feel like you're going to die in 2 minutes. For me, I still get that feeling, but my body has been subjected to this insane cold before and is already churning out a lot of heat. So... I'll feel like dieing too, but it might take 20 minutes... Plus, I won't dress stupid. My work force right now are all people from Ukraine. You'd think fairly cold, right? Meh... marginally... I literally have to teach them all how to dress for the cold, or they will freeze in 30 minutes. Kids here dress with as little clothes as possible, during winter, because only the weak bundle up. While insane from a safety stand point, that's how the body learns this kind of cold is dangerous so GENERATE HEAT!!!

I’m glad they allowed Steph to Speak on this because I wasn’t even a Minnesota fan . I loved seeing KG and Steph play together and I was Mad AF when Steph wanted to leave. I understand now.
Big snow storm on New Years left a pile in the back of the parking lot that didn't melt until April!!! Never living up north again, ever.
I was raised in Amityville,NY. I remember snow and cold but nothing like Midwest winters.
I lived in Milwaukee as a kid and those 414 winters are different.

28 degrees? Lol😅 that's beach weather.
Mannnnnn get him a couple Carhartt & NorthFaces and provide him with a god damn driver who knows how to drive on winter roads.
KG prolly jogging to practice in a tank top like “toughen up !!” 😂

KG got the 100mil dollar deal & became
"The Big Ticket" 💰💰💰💰💰 & Murbury got jealous. End of story.
Yup. It's not like he is a kid from Atlanta, where it's always warm.
Marbury sounds like a little girl
This man told you exactly what the deal was, and you are going to interpret it how you want as if you know him? Dudes on the internet be wild strange. SMH
He simply didn’t like living there. It’s nothing new… a lot of athletes will avoid lame cities that’s why places like Minny struggle to attract free agents and the good players they draft usually end up bouncing.
@@Seven9_exchange hahaha bingo!! Because Ant-man seems to like it just fine
I grew up in Minnesota and as a Wolves fan was devastated when Marbury left KG (what might have been) but...back then...when I heard the reason he left was because MN is too cold... I 100% get it. I left the state after college and have not been back since...what he said in this interview is FACTS!
After all these years I thought it was the contract, but yeah, we get it Steph. Minnesota cold ain’t for everyone. The winter his rookie year was horrendous and black ice will make you shit your paints. 😂

I wonder why Steph or the Timberwolves simply didn't hire a driver.
That would’ve been a quick fix, he wanted to get paid!

Well I mean that doesn’t stop the roads from having black ice and being damgerous
In fairness, he wasn't saying that was the only reason. The weather, the racial mix, the cap situation

I'm an Alabama native who's been calling the Twin Cities home for 7 years now. Personally, I love it here. Like Marbury said, the summers are beautiful (just not as long)! The Falls and Winters are too. My only gripe is Spring. As a born & raised southerner, I'm ready for Spring weather in March & April. But here, we may get 10 inches of snow. 😂
But regarding Marbury's experience, I get it. Minnesota isn't for everyone. You may have to invest in an AWD or snow tires. Me, I just put sand bags on the back of my truck during the winter and I don't have any issues. But boi, I wish he would get back involved with the T'Wolves organization somehow because it is A LOT for Marbury in the Twin Cities. In the words of Antman: "Believe Dat!" 🐜🐺💙💚
As you’ve probably learned we have about five fake springs before actual spring comes lol

WTF That gotta do with the cost of tea in China?
@@AndreRhoades The fact that I’m gonna have to explain this to you is also a NY thing and it’s sad! 😂 Garnett stayed in MN and he’s from SC and it’s far warmer in SC than NY. So MN coldness was a bigger adjustment for KG than it was for Steph. So Steph is either soft or BSing or both. Also, NYers can’t ever leave NY without crying about how wherever they go isn’t the same as NY. So stay your ass at home! The truth is that NY has a lot of positives sure but compared to a lot of places, it isn’t better. You just want everyone else to think that it is. But NYers especially black NYers want everyone to think that they are something special simply because they’re from NYC. 😂 You make yourselves look stupid. No one is kissing your ass because you choose to live like sardines in NYC. 😂
I feel you completely!!!
Nobody cares about Minnesota bro lol
He was just a kid at tha time
One of my fave pg to watch
He wanted to go play for the Knicks from the get go and they did him dirty just like they did Carmelo.
Be careful what you wish for, he would've been the legend he is China in Minnesota.
I’m PERSONALLY happy for Steph the man/person. #SALUTE🙌🏾💪🏾
It was absolutely the contract, this revisionist stuff.
Stephen has become such a beautiful soul…
Low key don’t know if I’m buying his story 😂🤷🏽♂️
The Starbury Shoes were affordable and 🔥. Wish i could find a pair.
🧢, he left cuz he was jealous of KG's contract
He was gonna get the same type of contract he’s telling you what happened but I guess you know more about his situation
Could be a mixture of all the above
Maybe not necessarily jealousy but it just gave him more of a reason to want to leave because it wasn’t like he could get more money from them than anybody else. So if that was the case and he had reservations about living there what was going to keep him there? Ultimately it’s better he told them and they were able to get some value vs him just leaving after 3 years for nothing
FOH those reports been disputed
Here go people on the outside looking in making things up and believing they’re own story 🥴 you don’t have the answers lmao you have no sources close to any of these people
yes be careful of the black ices, best advice The Cartoon Guy've heard in life.
Yawn. I lived in Minnesota during the time he played there. “It’s cold” is lame as hell but I expect that of him
His recollection is NOT what happened. He wanted more than what KG was getting. Multiple sources reported this. It was all really a ploy to get out of Minnesota. He left an up and coming team just to go home.
It was always in the back of my mind why he left. Same with the Kincks. I watched him play in Singapore here and there. Guy still had it. Im glad he cleared this up. Marbury was one of my favorites! Man Marbury at Pheonix ??? With Amare, and Marion?? Whoo that was something.
Marbury is a G he hsd the game and the swag..
Name one team that he made better once he left Minnesota..... I'll wait.
