  • One of the greatest dunkers the world has ever seen joins ALL THE SMOKE for an incredible episode. 6x All-Star, Shawn Kemp, sits down with Matt and Stak to reflect on his highlight filled career, including his chemistry with Gary Payton, facing off with MJ in the Finals, how he got his athleticism and dunking ability, and why he thinks Bill Russell is the GOAT. Plus, 'The Reignman' explains why he thinks he deserves to be in the HOF, discusses his relationship with Bobby Knight and why he snubbed Indiana for Kentucky, and shares an amazing story about getting sh*t talked by Larry Bird.

Many will never understand the "Magnitude" of Kemp in the 90's era. Before Zion Williamson, Blake Griffin, or Vince Carter... There was only the Reign Man and nothing like his Dunks or God Of War "Kratos" yell afterwards. Post Dunk swag was unmatched, even till this day. This interview cleared up so many questions about his mental check-out after the 96 season. He was supposed to be the next Jordan after 96 Finals Run. He already had a mid range jumper and now added PlayOff experience to go with unmatched GOD GIVEN TALENT. After the 96 season (and NBA lockout), that Kemp never emerged again. It made little sense how he just let himself go overnight and went from a Zulu warrior, 6'10 prototypical Dunking Demi God to an overweight, average athlete layup machine, overnight. This interview put a lot of questions to bed. Respect to the Reign Man. Put this man in the HOF asap!!! #SuperNecessary

Vince Carter? What exactly is it that you’re saying as far as what Kemp did first? Dominique Wilkins preceded him and was preceded by Dr. J and David Thompson. I was with you after you mentioned Zion and Blake but then you included a guard, which kind of distorted your assertion.

Man this interview brings back so many good memories of the 90s, the best decade of basketball in my opinion. Shawn Kemp is my all time favorite basketball player and the 95-96 Sonics was my favorite team. I live outside of Atlanta but Kemp was my dog! The way he played is why he was my favorite. Dunking on folks and the way he played around the basket was how basketball should be played. I can barely watch today’s game with all the 3’s and softness. I had the posters on the wall, shoes, jerseys and I rocked the sweat band under my left knee like he did. I’m glad he’s doing so well with his business. Players from the 80s/90s you sit and watch right the way through like a whole movie, their stories are authentic are what shaped the league to what it is now. Need a national campaign to get Latrell Sprewell and Larry Johnson, finally someone from that Knicks team, maybe John Starks! Love watching Stack and Matts genuine admiration for players like "Kemp" who we all watched light up the league and brought us great childhood memories, did Matt say five years now, amazing work.. would love to have you on MacAttack TV here in the UK London at some point.. Thanks once again for another classic... Respect.❤

My favorite player ever. Watching Kemp in his prime was something else. He was the prototype of things to come in terms of being a legit 6'10" big man who was agile, quick, moved fluidly, was money from either side of the post and had the range to step it out to the 3. Great passing ability, great court awareness, endless swag and personality; never let his mouth outshine his game. And the dunks... OMG the dunks... NO ONE dunked as hard as Kemp. NO ONE! And to think, he had small hands and couldn't even palm a basketball. Imagine if his hands were a little bigger.
    Rock on, Reign Man!!!
