You were lucky to be born at that time, when Freddie was still in good condition. I was born 17 years after Freddie’s death, in 2008. But my biggest dream is to listen to him live. But when the group was still whole, there was another problem I would have had to face- we were a part of the commie states. And as much as I know, Queen didn’t go to commie countries to perform.

Was released about a month prior to his press release confirming he had aids after two weeks of media speculation, and only six before his death. Indeed, MJ was rather obsessed with Freddie in the late 70s and the influence is significant upon MJs stage presence adjustments made during that time. This in no way diminishes Michael’s presence, but we saw at the time often static interspersed with amazing dance grow to playing specifically for the larger audience of arenas and stadiums whereas the J5 in those venues were still staged primarily for the camera. After seeing Freddie work the crowd Michael transitioned his traditional presence with exaggerated moves visible to the “nosebleed” seats and took things to the next level during “Off the Wall” & “Thriller” shows that cemented the King of Pop stage presence that became defining and legendary.

There are two different "dust" phrases which I think you are mixing up.
Someone dying and falling face first on the ground/dirt/dust, would "bite the dust."
Someone following another car or horse in a race (thus in the loosing position) is typically in a cloud of dust thrown up from the lead driver/rider, and would "eat dust." Though loosing, not necessarily dying.

If there was any inter-group inspiration being harvested between Michael Jackson and Queen with regard to "Another One Bites the Dust", it would have been Jackson being inspired, since "Billie Jean" wasn't released until January of 1983, while "The Game", which was the album with "Another One Bites the Dust" was released at the end of June, 1980.

Yes. It's a similar beat. Funny you should mention that. Michael was a huge Queen fan. In fact Michael is the one. Who convinced Fred / the band. To release this as a single. He told them it was a hit. It went to#1 in 1980. Michael later admitted the Thriller album itself was heavily influenced by this song / sound. PS. The face on the drums. Is the drummer. It's a bit of an inside joke. In the early to mid 70s. Roger was quite a heart throb. Girls loved him. The irony of being the heart throb of the band. Behind a drum kit. Where you are not easily visible. Struck him / them, as funny. inspiring him to put his face on the front of the kit itself. The bassist ( John Deacon ) wrote this one.

Good lord, I feel old, if we're now in a time where people legit don't know what "another one bites the dust" means. Yes, it means you're done for. Like, if your car is broken beyond repair, it bit the dust.

Yay Queen! Freddie was a master at singing song phrases according to Monserrat Caballe. Who I believe you know- his soprano opera partner on Barcelona the album. He worked hard to sing John’s song here until he felt it sounded right according to Brian May. He always helped John who credits Freddie with helping him to this day. We lost such talent when we lost him. 😢 Thanks for the reaction!

Love this song. While in nursing school we would do round robins on different diseases and 8 to 10 questions. If you did not make it through we would drum on the desks and hit that catch phrase.
