@@queenremix1353 bohemian rhapsody was a live experience that was better than any recording that I have ever heard. I know they recorded both nights, used some parts from each. Yes, I do believe you are right, the official recorded version of that song was the one done on the 24th.

@@jilliant.4550 How do you think Bohemian Rhapsody from the 25 November compare to the previous nights? Did Freddie change the phrasing, or was it similar? Sorry if I am asking too many questions, but this concert is special to me.

    • @jilliant.4550
      @jilliant.4550 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@queenremix1353 its been a long time. I don't recall much variation in wording, but I do believe the piano opening portion was longer, a little more layer back and slower, maybe. Guitar riffs were extended some too. It was fantastic. I spent most of the concert pinching myself because I couldn't believe I was there.

This is their BEST ever. Love Roger on the backing vocals too.
Freddie’s vocals on this same song at Milton Keynes aren’t as perfect but he definitely goes to church. You can see even more of his personalities and how he was always changing things up. I have to listen to both versions if I’m in a Queen mood.

When asked "which person, living or dead, would you most like to have performed with that you haven't", Floor Jansen chose Freddie Mercury.
Very appropriate, as many people have described her as the female equivalent in range, versatility and stagecraft.
You commented on the backing vocals from the other three bandmates - I know Brian May has said he believes a large part of what made the band work was how well their voices complemented each others'. Roger Taylor (how he sings with his head twisted to the mic like that is beyond me) has the highest pitched voice, so the high head voice is most likely him.
Freddie could sing pretty much anything though, and hold several hundred thousand people in the palm of his hand in doing so.
But then Brian could do pretty much anything on guitar, Roger on drums, and John was, or appeared to be, the steadying influence, with a very strong bassline. Of course, he also designed and built Brian's amplifier, as he is a qualified electronic engineer. Roger is a dentist and Brian, of course, is Dr May now with his PhD in astrophysics. I think his lack of a knighthood discredits the honours system, as he has more than earned it - even playing the National Anthem from the roof of Buckingham Palace on one notable occasion. How EPIC is that?

Freddie Mercury was that rarest of performers: a fantastic singer, brilliant lyricist, and a born entertainer. Each concert was a masterclass in crowd control and stage presence. KZ Tandingan is another such entertainer.
Adam Lambert has proven to be worthy of lifting Freddie's microphone as Queen's front singer.

My wife is the BIGGEST Queen nerd I've ever met in my life. They were definitely a band I didn't pay enough attention to. If I was afforded just one chance to go back in time I'd use it to take my wife to a Queen concert. And if I got a second opportunity, I'd go back to see Jimi Hendrix live, my favorite guitarist of all time who constantly inspires me on guitar.
There will never be another person like Freddie Mercury...

I saw them live once in early 1980. This was near the end of Freddie's long hair and spandex outfits stage but he still had them both at that point. It was in the middle of the European leg of their "Night at the Opera" tour but they were recording for a live album so the two nights in Paris were called, "Live Killers" which is what the live album was called when it was released. We did not have the best seats in the house but I felt lucky to even be there. What I can say about Freddie is if he was on stage, everyone's eyes were glued to him. You could not take your eyes off of him. His stage presence was like nothing anyone has ever had before and will ever have again. I was only 19 years old at the time and the one unfortunate thing was that that concert ruined every other concert that I ever attended afterwards. Nothing else ever came close and at 19 I had a lot of concerts still left in me. One of AC/DC's early (yes...Bon Scott) concerts and a Rush 2112 concert came close but nothing could live up to the very high bar set by Queen.

BTW, Brian May, the guitarist for Queen (the one with the BIG hair) is one of hte most accomplished people on the planet. Besides writing 9 of Queen's biggest hits, get this: Following the death of Mercury in 1991, aside from the 1992 tribute concert, the release of (1995) and the 1997 tribute single to Mercury, "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)" (written by May), Queen were put on hiatus for several years but were eventually reconvened by May and Taylor for further performances featuring other vocalists. In 2005, a Planet Rock poll saw May voted the seventh-greatest guitarist of all time. He was ranked at No. 26 on s list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". In 2012, he was ranked the second-greatest guitarist in a magazine readers poll. In 2001, May was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Queen and in 2018 the band received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Any parent, who grew up listening to Queen, who didn't present them to their kids has done them a great diservice. My kids got a steady diet as younguns'. In fact my daughter as a teenager, she'll be 30 next month, as we were driving and when "Bohemian Rhapsody" would come would start to head bang just like in the scene in "Wayne's World". I can personally attest to their greatness live as I saw them on this tour in September 1980 at Madison Square Garden, Another great one from the concert was a new song off the Game album called "Save Me". It is definately worth a listen.

MY FAVORITE QUEEN SONG!!! Freddie commented that he felt that Somebody To Love was a better composed song than Bohemian Rhapsody! Both are masterpieces as is MARCH OF THE BLACK QUEEN. STL is Freddie’s favorite song, too! 🌸💕🌸💕 Montreal is 👉 PERFECTION 👈 next check out the Milton Keynes live version 👉 POWERFUL 👈 Thank you for your expertise! 🎶🎶🎶

RIP Rock and the era of the Rock Star. They just don't make them like that any more. I'm only 34, so never got a chance to see Freddie live. But I did get to see Robert Plant perform live, and that level of performer is just on another level.

Awesome reaction to a great performer. I loved the way Freddie, and the rest of Queen for that matter had such a command performance on anything I've seen them do live. A crown, for a crowning performance.

To this day Superman wears a Queen t-shirt. I saw them live at MSG in '78, '79 and '80, they never had a warm-up band , the ticket said 8PM showtime, you can be damn sure Queen would be ready at 8PM. Btw, Freddie gave his signature mic to the crowd to say a few words, when he got it back the rod was missing, that was NYC in the 70's for ya.

This was such a flashback to my teen years in the early 80's. They were too big to come around where I live. Was such a shame I didn't get to see them live back then. I have seen so many of the great bands from the 70's and 80's but this one I never got to see live except on tv in Live Aid.

Maggie. If you can find Rachel Potter doing this when she was 29 and preforming it on the competition that Simon was a judge on ( Can't recall which show that was) it is amazing in it's own right!

I agree with the previous suggestions of checking out their performance from Live Aid. Not only was it not a Queeen crowd, Freddy was recovering from a throat infection and was advised by his doctor not to sing. He had 65k+ people eating out of the palm of his hand from the first notes of their set which was about 20 minutes for each performer. There is a reason it is consistently referred to as one of the greatest performances of all time.
