this was Fan 10 years ago?!? I didn't realize he was even playing at this level back then, it really makes me appreciate the incredible skill of Ma Long and just wonder how much further Fan can get now!!! I mean, he is number 1 in the world right now at 26 years old, and Ma Long is still going strong at over 35 (I think), I just wonder what Fan will be able to achieve in the next ten years? Maybe his knees will fail him by then since his game is just so athletic, to get to the point that Ma has he would have to slowly redefine his game to be less speed oriented and more about control and placement, using counters rather than kill loops. That my hypothesis at least, but only time will tell. For now, we are simply gifted with one of the most perfect players I think that has existed in the game today, his form and playstyle are just from another world!
It's unfair to compaire Fan Zhendong of 16 years old with Ma Long in his peak era. Maybe you should compare Fan and Ma at the same age of 16 years. You'll find Fan is MUCH better than Ma. And the fact is Fan won this match against SAMSONOV eventually, which means he got the capability to adjust his rhythm and strategy to win a match even when he was a 16-year old kid and he got a lot of potential to be the future number 1.
Go watch 2010 WTTC Ma Long against Boll.His elbow almost dropped from the overhitting.

well I found it boring... too bad Samsonov did not withstand this mentally, as he was oviously the better player here.
@@peterpixo losing literally means you were NOT the better player HERE. It doesn‘t mean your opponent is better than you in general, but in the game you lost your opponent was the better player

Who else realizes the vast difference between this and the current Fan? He is playing so much slower here, way less aggressive. The difference is so huge
He was aggressive back then and you do not see him play defensive games. He kept attacking his opponents all the time.
Dude was 16, now hes at his prime, he is a different monster now !

Владимир тоже. В одном из интервью он сказал, что это был переломный момент, который изменил мир настольного тенниса. Подразумевалось, что в худшую сторону. Не помню точно, не хочу соврать, но по-моему Владимир там это озвучил.
Качество мяча стало нестабильным, это вынудило постоянно адаптироваться, и даже лучшие игроки мира остались недовольны. Для всех это стало началом сожаления, которое длится до сих пор.
