    Hi from France:
Steve Vai and Jimmy Hendrix had a granddaughter and she is Japanese. She calls her Hal-ca (Haruca)...

As I'm from the UK, I suppose we'd call it Maths Metal! Either way, all 3 members of this band are superb musicians who somehow play as if they have 40 years worth of playing under their belts. They added vocals to their new songs a couple of years ago and they sound fine but, for me, their instrumental skills are what shine brightest.

Mr. Relic, I saw that "stank face"! That's the same damn way my face looked when I heard this song for the first time. It's almost scary how talented the young Japanese artists are. When this was recorded all of them were teenagers.

Hal-ca is certainly a whammy bar specialist.
Mio has talked about the concept for this song: “Dawn will come no matter how long or how dark the night is” ; and you can really feel that, especially through last movement (from bass solo through to the end). and it really does get better with each listen.
If you want more , you really can't go wrong with anything -- just open up their channel and go (though, most fans seem to prefer the instrumental stuff ; so just keep in mind the last album - and 3 most recent official videos - is all vocals)
other fan favorites include: Rising Moon , 155 , Gunfire , Stars , Light in the Darkness , Blaze (the official of that last one is a shortened version - the longer album version is Hal-ca dueling with Buckethead )

Love them. This song immediately went onto my workout playlist the first time i heard it - so well written and performed. Japanese musicians are so amazing - make current us musicians look sick...

Hal-ca is 17 years oud at this concert. Miyu (bass) is 8 months older. Mio (drums) is 20.

She's only 16 here and she wrote the song when she was 15. She didn't turn 17 until November of that year. This is in April.

what a song.. like your breakdown! you mentioned nemophila! ohh yes! please do. they are like the grown up version of this with all the bells and whistles.. superior musicians and the songs are amazing.. take your pick. the lead singer is about as good as it gets... can do anything!

I wouldn't be surprised if the thesis that Haruka is somehow related to Steve Vai is true. 🤭What a charming beast! And the same goes for the brothers Miyu (ba) and Mio (dr) next to her. It should be declared a crime that these 3 with this talent are still flying way too far under the radar of pretty much everyone out there after so many years. 🤷🏻‍♂
Regarding Nemophila, I recommend either one of their first songs like 'Raitei' (MV) or something more recent 'Adabana' (MV) to start with.... Maybe a good situation for the band to have a video about them and show support, since they are only four since the beginning of this month. This also means that in every video you see, to your right is their former guitarist Saki, who is no longer part of the band.... Oh, and to save you all the comments, they are pronounced Ne-mo-fi-la (no 'i' after the 'l'). There are a few who react allergically when their name is repeatedly mispronounced. 🤭🤘🏻

When I commented in your last Asterism video, I compared my seeing Haruka live to seeing Eddie Van Halen live many, many years ago. I hope that you now understand that the comparison is not exaggeration. Watching her play from only 5 feet away in a small NYC club last year was an absolutely amazing experience.
You definitely need to experience Nemophila. I saw them live in Dallas a little over a year ago and was at the stage for that show also. They are a great live band. As an introduction, I would suggest one of their most recent songs called AMA-TE-RAS from their latest albums - th-cam.com/video/96LQimRqJgM/w-d-xo.html
To me, the song is quintessential Nemophila. Unfortunately, one of their lead guitarists, Saki, left the band. She will be the stage left guitarist in the video. Nemophila has initially acted like they will continue as a 4 piece, but I really don't see that happening. There are plenty of very talented Japanese female guitarists that would love to join Nemophila (although I hope Haruka is not one of them).

What I love about Haruka is her love of playing music. You can find videos of her when way back as 14 just jamming songs of great guitarist from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slash, Richie Blackmore, Paul Gilbert, and Akira Takasaki. On top of that she's a killer bassist and piano player, she just loves music, and that's awesome.

    Hi Mr. Relic,
Following up on these amazing kids and your reacton to SRV a month ago; did you know that Asterism has covered SRV? -and made it their own. Paying homage to one of the goats of blues: Scuttle Buttin - th-cam.com/video/BtB_VrYLRaM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GKZvR3woI_j15FSu
Btw, Haruka has added vocals to her arsenal and they are even better now. Check out their homage to AC/DC, Motorhead, Guns'nRoses, Slipknot(or is it Ghost) et al in Stardom: th-cam.com/video/MJvFAD43jWg/w-d-xo.html
Regarding blues guitarists, though SRV certainly is one of the goats, I also rank the late Gary Moore and his compatriot Rory Gallagher high on the list. With your insight and knowledge, I trust you are familiar with these to irish slingers. But who are we to compare and rank anyway? Too many variables and - as the French say - "Chacun a son gout", to each their own.
    Cheers!

Great Reaction to one of my favorite bands. They do NOT play 'Math Metal'. This was a great, strait forward instrumental Metal song with a Bass solo bridge. Math Metal is semi-chaotic music with extreme levels of time signature changes and lots of 'stops' and 'hesitations'. It is highly technical and complex music. Here is another J-Rock/Metal band that you could check out that is as 'Math Metal' as it gets. If you want to explore some, take a dive into the Rabbit Hole - *Sokoninaru* . . *_Tenohira de Oduro_* th-cam.com/video/n7MyoBki9wk/w-d-xo.html

Hey bro! Regarding Nemophila.(Neh-Mo-Feelah) I would start at the beginning with Oiran (Oy Rahn) they have a new video at the house of blues i believe. Also, PLEASE react to their song Rollin Rollin. It never gets any exposure because theres only the audio track and no MV. But it is a certified, fast paced, bass driven BANGER 🤘😎🤘

I've yet to do an 'audio only' reaction. I may do it a little later once I've been introduced formally to the band. Any particular song (with video :) that you would suggest as a starting point?
