I particularly find Tony Grey even more impressive technically (my favourite Hiromi album is still "Spiral") though but I agree that Anthony Jackson sound is so unique and distinctive and he was even more amazing when he was younger playing with Michel Camilo. My favourite performance of Anthony is precisely in "One more once" Michel Camilo album, he was a beast back then.
@@BlueGlimpser Anthony Jackson is the reason I push myself so hard despite only starting now >50…Played bass a long time but never understood how important reading music can be…I don’t know where I heard. Godfather of the contrabass guitar, and innovator many of the technical features commonly found on many modern style bass guitars. Big respect to you Mr. AJ.
Check out the old eyewitness project stuff with Steve khan . Nominally Steve’s band but a j reigns over all of it . Manolo badrena and the Steve’s are , of course , incredible on them as well . His voicings and the crazy contrabass runs just blew my mind as a young guitar player .
WE would go to every gig. I love AJ. He is one with the instrument. Recorded on 1,000s of albums & hits. Has conviction & beliefs on the bass that are self evident. You would be hard pressed to find someone that has the same love, knowledge, expressiveness, amazing rhythmic concepts, and kick ass mentality on the bass guitar. I can promise you this man will not be duplicated.
@ 1:16 Hiromi gives Anthony and Simon a look about the break that's coming up. @ 1:27 She gives Simon a look that says "Yeah. That was okay". @ 1:29 she makes a mistake, and Anthony notices and gives her a look that kind of says, "Oh. So you play like that? Really?". Hilarious. I always wondered why his head popped up at that spot. This is how the top players talk trash during a performance. Phenomenal musicianship
Some Christians have a bracelet they wear that they look at when they get into a moral conundrum. It says "WWJD" (What Would Jesus Do?). I'm going to get one that I can wear on gigs that says "WWAJD" (What Would Anthony Jackson Do?)
Yes. In taste and execution nobody can touch him. But there's no better example of the qualities that every bassist should aspire to, wouldn't you agree?

@juanpablopatino7707 The mids are really strong and makes this sound like a souped up P bass. For some of the their songs, I think it would have sounded better with a bit more sizzling highs. But that's just me. Maybe it was the amp set up? Still sounds good in this setting.
Listen to the album Rendezvous Live by Michel Camilo. Then try and play along with Anthony’s lines… You will see why he’s so well revered. He’s an astonishing bass player. One of the GOATs
Anthony Jackson is probably the only bassist that could play with Hiromi…she’s insanely amazing. What a duet/duo.

Stanley Clark was actually one of the first to put Hiromi on ...
Don't forget Simon, a musical genius on drums 🙌

Anthony sees so much deeper into each musical situation he is in. Virtuoso is not enough to describe him.
I wish he led his own band. I want to see and hear him featured for an entire set. I’d go to every gig.

I second the motion, he has all the tools, musicality and the facility.
@@ericcollins1824 Crossings and Live in Köln are outstanding examples.
Right On!!
The Electric Bass G.O.A.T Anthony Jackson 👊🏿🖤
I love that this band has been going for so long. So totally original. And only 1 Anthony Jackson!
Truly like no other. One and only. AJ!👍🏻

1:16 is so inspirational. That passion. I can feel it
incredible bass musician. of all time. thanks antony
What a nice thing to wake up and see! AJ rules !
Talk about a full sounding bass! Every note is like a ton of bricks
I was glad I got a chance to see him play live I thought that would not happen
Real deal
Simply phenomenal!!

Hello Sir! Thank you for this beautiful material! Please could you share us a link with the whole show? Thank you! Have you very good day today!
His playing is faultless...and the tone! Wow!
Just outstanding, perfection.
Best drummer Ever!
Yes! I think that's Steve Smith from Journey.
@@KenChawkin bro, the one and only simon phillips
@@6onxza you're right. Thank you!
Now she has Hadrien Feraud.. His melodic approach will continue drive her to new heights.
The last one with the BiG bass string is superb ❤
The sound on the Nord at 2:34 reminds me of the intro sax tone on Funkorama by Eddie Harris.
HECK YEAH‼️ THANK YOU👍👍👍❣️

Holy! This was amazing
thank you very much for this video
Thank you!
The king !!!!
Yes Sir 🙏🏽
True genius
Amazing
Love to see a pick player workin' it.
He only uses a pick for tone. He plays just as Bad ass with his fingers. I wish I could do that.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Great players
Awesome!
Where can I find the full video of the concert?
Thank you for this amazing post! Whats the name of the first song please?
I think is "Now or never"
I didn’t know he played with a pick.
He plays with either fingers or plectrum, depending on what sound he wants.
Como se llama la tercera pieza que tocan ?
"Margarita!" de su album "Move". Tremendo temazo, me encanta!

@BlueGlimpser thanks so much! ♥️✌😊
first song?
Anthony Jackson and Bobby Vega get a pass on playing with a Plectrum
Along with any other bass player that wishes to use one.
@@FortyHurts nope
Simon Philips,só a nata.
Music aside, that is one ugly Barbapapa bass.
idk to be honest that sounds like a experienced bassist practising his scales..
Wow! Please publish the venue and date of your next gig! I can’t wait to hear what you’ve got to show us all!
I agree. Just some moderately fast picking scale warm ups. It's not too bad though
Why play such a expensive bass if you are going to make it sound like a wood table?
Better question is: if you can make your wood table sound like Anthony Jackson's bass why aren't you on tour?
I don't like that Sound for a fodera bass. All the rest very nice, armony, rythm, scales, impro etc

That nass player ia overrated.. i dont know why people see it so good, in my opinion he is plain....
