Many thanks for your memories of this talented gentleman and his family. It is sad that many fail to look beyond the mere physical appearance of a person to see the beauty and genius that lies beneath.
Don't you hate it when you find an amazing individual and then find they are no longer with us? Such a bummer. This man was incredible. Super funny guy too.
Ah Michel, just as extraordinary as the first time I became acquainted with your name, artistry, and brilliance at a small club in Hollywood. I understand you have left the physical realm, but I think your gift of beauty will remain required listening for the cool one's who will come.
An absolute giant of the keyboard. As well as his incredibly virtuosic pianism , Michel had the most incredible positive outlook on life despite the physical pain he was constantly in. We have nothing to complain about. RIP Maestro 🙏 🙏

I think that Petrucciani is one of those wonderful examples of wich is the true measure of a man. This concert is gold from beginning to end but Cantabile is an positivity and pure joy excercice and transmits something very special.
Michel speaks, shares, feels, and exudes all that is good about music, life the universe and everything. He is one of the best, most direct communicators ever to sit at a piano. Wonderful.
I have a live CD with the trio from that time. Listened a lot for a long time and felt happy every time. I get the same joy from this fine concert video 🙏🏻
WONDERFUL PETRUCCIANI TRIO. SUPERB JAZZ PIANISM. Rythm section, Gadd and Jackson, extraordinary performance strictly close to marvelous Michel inspiration. The Genius of Michel is over the Top. He lives forever in our hearts...💓❤️🙏🏻
Here's living proof that you can be a dwarf and a giant at the same time. Michel petrucciani is a beautiful improviser and composer with truly Heartfelt melodies that make you fall in love with his music. So sad that he didn't live another 50 years and produce more wonderful music for the world to hear. Michel, I've seen you live 6 times altogether and I miss you badly !
I only got to see him play twice with Charles Lloyd at my favorite venue (Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara), but he was an inspiration to anyone who got to see him live.
Wayne Shorter summed up Michel Petrucciani's essential character and style in this quote: "There's a lot of people walking around, full-grown and so-called normal-they have everything that they were born with at the right leg length, arm length, and stuff like that. They're symmetrical in every way, but they live their lives like they are armless, legless, brainless, and they live their life with blame. I never heard Michel complain about anything. Michel didn't look in the mirror and complain about what he saw. Michel was a great musician-a great musician-and great, ultimately, because he was a great human being because he had the ability to feel and give to others of that feeling, and he gave to others through his music"
what a giant of a jazz pianist was Michael Petrucciani . fabulous performance . one of many things you can admire about this performance . One is near the end of Billy Strayhorn written Take the A train is the wonderful crazy atonal bit they improvise . Milton Babbitt eat your heart out ! :- ) ... Billy Strayhorn wrote Take the A Train for Duke Ellington in the early 20th century . The A train was--still is ? -- the express subway route to Harlem . Strayhorn probably wrote it in honor of the Harlem Renaissance( some the greatest african american writers, musicians, scientists, businessmen, artists lived in a clean stylish Harlem in the 1920s) and also because white people went up there to the "speakeasies" to hear the jazz go down, dance and drink during the prohibition
fantastic ! not only is the diminutive pianist Michel Petrucciani a fine jazz pianist, he also plays with soul ! (and at times with beautiful subtle nuance ) . what an inspiration . don't ever believe you just don't have enough of what it takes to meet your goals , and inspire others .
Great!! I saw him in Copenhagen in 1993. I was eating a hot dog on the Stroget and heard some amazing playing. I turned around and saw him in the window of a cafe. I spent a long time on that hot dog. :)
This is so very difficult to play like this , it's a precisely tuned music instrument with incredibly well timed rhythm , every note is executed flawlessly
One of life's beautiful ironies...short in stature but a towering giant on stage...hands down one of the top 5 jazz pianists of all time...and the guy plays all styles as well.
❤ I have to interrupt (I am on my work), but would continue to listen phenomenal musician. Michele knew to choose and made orchestar. Thanks a lot, I listen, live and feel this like dream
Again and again the most precious and talented are taken away from us at their peak and sadly at an young age. Brilliant Jazz Artist. Sadly missed among us mortals. Dig & Cheers!
Petrucciani ?
This is a masterful interpretation, without commercial flourishes, without the exemplary double bass effect. If you know the theme of 'Cantabile, very well known, it's an enchanting moment, the playing of Steve Gad, a discreet expert, I love this drummer. Petrucciani royal,,,,,I found this piece this morning... You be the judge.

One of the best pianists that ever lived may his soul rest in peace
I literally just discovered this man days ago and I’m blown away by his musicianship. He is on another level.
Don't you hate it when you find an amazing individual and then find they are no longer with us? Such a bummer. This man was incredible. Super funny guy too.
heard of him first a bout 18 years ago ! What a performer, "love letters" is one of his best. numbers.
Listening to music means transporting yourself to another world. Some musician’s worlds could be similar to others. Petrucciani’s world is unique 🤩🤩🤩
Me too, man. Like, why have I discovered this artist only so recently?
Ah Michel, just as extraordinary as the first time I became acquainted with your name, artistry, and brilliance at a small club in Hollywood. I understand you have left the physical realm, but I think your gift of beauty will remain required listening for the cool one's who will come.
I had the privilege to see Michel live in 1995. He lived his death sentence with enormous dignity.
I am so glad to be part of a project that may realize a film of this man's extraordinary life! Truly one of the best jazz pianists of all time.
Looking forward to it.
What is it called? And is it already completed by now?
No words! Michel was a genius, and the trio is first class.

I absolutely loved Petrucciani. Terrific rhythm section with Gadd and Anthony Jackson.
He was not just a jazz pianist..he has been a great music composer. Many jazz musicians today should learn about this difference
Lyle Mays is another ... the same ... as the great pianist and soulful music composer... i adore
I have a live CD with the trio from that time. Listened a lot for a long time and felt happy every time. I get the same joy from this fine concert video 🙏🏻
My all time favorite jazz trio. Maestro Petrucciani, Dr Steve Gadd & Anthony Jackson always see to be so in synch with each other
RIP Maestro 🙏🏻🙏🏻🎹🎹
For me one of the best contemporary pianists: despite his physical difficulties, his intellectual level is at its maximum.
