Perfect timing! Its my first time celebrating Ramadan with my husband and I want to prepare a nice meal for him for when we break our fast, and he loves garlic bread 🥖
Yes the stainless steel “soap” works fantastic for garlic and onion smell. Been using mine for a few years . For those who don’t want to buy yet another gadget, rubbing a quality soup spoon on your fingers works just as well.
I love how you measure garlic. For me four cloves means six to eight. Garlic bread is so yummy and this recipe looks great! I have a stainless steel soap bar and it works!
I used to just rub my hands on the sink and that worked, but I did recently buy a little soap shaped stainless steel bar and it works great! love your videos :)
I just made the garlic bread. I didn't have fresh Parmesan Cheese so I used the one in the container. The garlic bread is absolutely delicious and so easy to make. Thank you and God bless you.....😊
I really love making garlic bread boules where we cut the bread into little squares and then stuff the compound butter into all the nooks and crannies. It's like a blooming onion of garlic bread! I usually make a compound butter with dried herbs but I'll have to try this version out next time!
We have a bread outlet that makes bread bowls by us and beyond just putting soup in them I never know what to do . This is so smart !!! Thanks for the idea
Perfect instruction. Great flavors. My Mom taught me to use Romano cheese (just our preference) and also lightly dust the butter mixture with dry oregano along with parsley, for an authentic Italian flavors. Once the bread is perfectly toasted I sometimes cube it to crouton size for salads, pasta, soups and stews. Yummy stuff! Thank you!
*AMAZING WINNING IDEA!! John Kanell always knows how to find a compliment touch to our meals. This Wonderfully Garlic Bread is justifying for today's beef stew; The perfect touch. Thanks John.*
I LOVE garlic bread. I never make it though. I just might this weekend! Lol As for the stainless steel trick, it does work, although, I have a stainless steel double kitchen sink, so I just rub my fingers on the center divider of the sink. Works like a charm! 😉👍
Outstanding, Well Done! I just made this, but my oven doesn't have a Broiler, so I cooked them in the oven for the 5 minutes and then added them to my air fryer that has an Air Broil option. I set it at 450 for 2 minutes and it came out perfectly. I had to use dried parsley (didn't have any fresh ones) and I added a small amount of Smoked Paprika to the bread before adding the cheese... It was awesome...
His professionalism & detailed demonstration of how to make garlic bread is real good👍 I thought this was a difficult recipe but it's actually quite simple🙂
I use lemons and soap to remove garlic smell. Really works. Just cut in half then use one half and just pass it over your hands, fingers then wash with soap. Rinse and usually works for me
I love watching your videos, you make it all seem so easy. Yes, run your fingers along the blade of your stainless steel knife. Also, sprinkle some salt on your hands before you do it and that helps too.
Broiling for 5 minutes burned the top of my first batch, going 2 minutes like your recipe in the description says to do worked out fine - danke! They are fantastic
I have one of the metal garlic things to rub my hands with to take the garlic smell away, and yes it does work. I must confess, I forget I even had it so thank you for the reminder.
THANK YOU John, I have made garlic bread & garlic butter 3-4 times and used raw garlic - I think that explains why we never liked it and it was just so pungent, plus it was no where near what you would get in a restaurant. I have just learnt the secret is butter and cooking off the garlic. I am definitely trying your way!
I made this for my fiance last night and he LOVED IT. He said it was better than his garlic bread recipe. I smell a preppy kitchen cookbook as my Christmas gift this year
Great video! As a kid, whenever we went out for dinner and parsley was served as a garnish, I was the only one who ate it and I would eat everyone's parsley garnish. I loved parsley and still do!
I just made this except I used Parsley seasoning because my grocery store doesn't sell fresh parsley. I added a mixture of cheeses instead of Parmesan cheese. Oh my lord this was oozing 🧈 garlic and 🧀. Absolutely delicious 😋🤤🩷
Hi John. I've been using a stainless steel garlic crusher (insert unpeeled clove/s and crush) for years as I don't like the smell on my fingers. It works a treat and I remove waste with a knife. Thanks heaps for your enthusiasm and energy which are most inspirational.
John, Julia Child had a tip of first washing your hands in cold water, as hot water will "set" the smell. Then wash again using soap and warm water. It works a treat for onion so I would imagine it works for garlic, too.
It does work if you rub your garlic fingers on stainless steel to get the smell off of them. I always use the kitchen faucet to rub my fingers on. I like to put Italian sausage in spaghetti sauce or meatballs in spaghetti sauce on the garlic bread and make a sandwich with it. So good!
I do have a stainless steel brick (shaped like soap) and it really does work! It doesn't take the stickiness away but rinse first then rub fingers on the steel (I typically use my stainless knife but the soap shape is a lot more safe).
Yes, yes, yes - you can get the stainless steel garlic oval and it works fine. I find that using my stainless steel butter knife works really well. I rub my wet fingers up and down the knife on the blunt side. I also put the knife slightly under my finger nails and rub it back and forth. Just make sure you keep you hands wet. Give it a try - it really does get rid of the garlic odor!
I wash my hands with salt to get rid of smells on my hands. Warm water and the coarser the salt the better but even regular table salt will work. Add a tiny bit of water to make it pasty then rub it around, always works for me!
The stainless steel soap does work but you can also use your sink tap which is steel (if it's steel) I just rub my hands over that while washing them in the sink- works perfect..... great garlic bread !!
Yes, it was amazingly good! I used corriander instead of parsley cause i don't have them and they because sooo... good, my sister was like omg ur the best sis my oven smelled like garlic bread thnx ❤❤❤
I can’t wait to try garlic bread your way. I’m Hispanic/Greek also, and I cook every Sunday for my family. Most of my recipes call for garlic and onion, so yes, my fingers often smell of garlic; however, I run my fingers and hands over the stainless steel faucet and the smell is gone. Easy. Peasy. Thanks for sharing your awesome recipes with us.
Stainless steel soap thing works if you wash with soap first to get rid of most of the oils. It works good for fish as well. I've found the best thing to do if you want it gone and don't have the stainless soap bar thing is to wash your hands and then peel a piece of citrus, I prefer a grapefruit but orange, lemon or lime work well also.
John, I just recently started using fresh herbs and garlic. I’ll be honest, I bought a garlic press right when I started, and love mine. You just have to clean out the what I call casting in between uses. So just load it up at once!!!
I have one of those stainless steel hand washers in my kitchen and it works not only on garlic but onions too mine also comes with a little tool at the end of it for cleaning under your nails. I would probably also use a garlic press to mince my garlic instead of finely chopping it.
OMG YES! Im in love with Garlic bread, I love to snack on it from time to time and this recipe will forever be a life changer for me!! Ill be trying this tomorrow! Thank you so much, I enjoy all the videos you make for us!! 😊😊❤️
I love the support. 1. I'm not gonna tell you how much garlic, you measure that with your heart. 2. I'm also not gonna talk about serving sizes. Also measure that with your heart. ❤
Those stainless steel soap bars are fantastic. I have also found soaping up my hands and rubbing them over and around the metal faucet on the sink does the same job
Making this now! Hey I have a great tip for getting rid of garlic smell on your hands!! Rinse under water while rubbing your hands together with some baking soda!! Lmk
For the garlic smell. You already have it in your kitchen. Use any stainless steel lid from your cookware. I've use it for years. Put a little dish detergent on lid, and wash the lid with your hand. Do it once or twice until the smell is gone. Of course you will wash the lid again for cooking use.
I don't have a stainless steel "soap bar" but I always use the handle of one of my stainless table knives or spoon or even the stainless faucet. (good excuse to clean that too...) But it totally works. For onions too...
The stainless steel thing absolutely works. We have one in the shape of a bar of soap by the sink. After cutting onions or garlic you pick it up and rub it on your hands with some water. It's magical, it gets rid of the smell quickly and easily. Definitely pick one up. With respect to the recipe, I would roast the garlic first. When you roast garlic it mellows in flavor and becomes even more delicious. Take as many whole heads of garlic as you want and carefully slice the tops off so the garlic doesn't burst while roasting and you can squeeze the garlic out after it's roasted. You can either wrap them in tin foil or use a small oven safe pot with a cover. Before roasting, drizzle with some olive oil and roast in a 400° oven for about 40 minutes to an hour or longer until soft and caramelized. The roasting time will depend on the age of the garlic and the size of the cloves. Let the garlic cool and then squeeze into a bowl. Mix the garlic into butter and proceed with the recipe. I generally don't use flat leaf parsley but I'll give it a try next time. I love escargot so I'll probably like this too! Garlic bread is delicious but roasting the garlic first makes it so much better. You can pre-roast your garlic days in advance, if you do, the prep time is similar to the recipe in the video.
flat leaf, continental parsley is the best flavour...not just a garnish. I'm greek and we use it as a main green in delicious herb salads with plenty of different greens, salt, pepper, lemon and olive oil...hmmm
If you have stainless steel spoons, just rub your fingers with the spoon. It works just like the stainless steel bar, without having to purchase one. Or just use your stainless steel sink, like the other people have said. It really does work.
Love homemade garlic bread! I cheat abd and use the minced garlic in the jar. Lol I also add a little sharp and mozzarella cheese too. Oh and I don't melt the butter. I use room temperature butter and mix everything and spread with a rubber spatula. So good!
I knew you couldn’t stop at four cloves with all of that bread! Bravo for adding at least two more. YES...that stainless steel soap works great! I’ve had mine for several years. I add a drop of soap too.
The stainless steel bar of soap works well to remove garlic and onion smell from your hands. You can even just use the back of a stainless steel blade rubbing your fingers along the blade (while staying away from the sharp edge) while you are working under cold running water. Works like a charm and you don't have to buy another piece of equipment for your kitchen
Stainless steel soap bar I haven't used but rubbing my hands against my stainless steel sink with water running does work amazingly well. So yes it should work
I definitely would add the whole bulb of garlic to our garlic bread. I also just run my fingers, carefully, up and down my stainless steel knife to take away the garlic smell. You don't need to buy a special stainless steel "soap bar" to get rid of the smell. Anything stainless steel will work.
Hi !! John Happy Friday evening. The garlic cheese bread looks delicious. Yes I make my garlic bread different ways . Yes when you cook butter and garlic it has such a good smell through the house . I love me some garlic bread It pair well with pasta dishes , steak , lamb , chicken. I love making garlic bread 🍞. Amazing garlic bread recipe. Thank you so much friend . ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🥰💛🥰🌷🥰🥰🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Hi John, if you have a stainless steel faucet you can simply rub your hands on it after you've washed them with soap. Works just the same as a stainless steel bar.

Yes the stainless steel “soap” works fantastic for garlic and onion smell. Been using mine for a few years . For those who don’t want to buy yet another gadget, rubbing a quality soup spoon on your fingers works just as well.
This threw me off at first haha
Just started the video and was looking through the comments and you say something about soap
Fingers rinsed in water than then rubbed along side of my stainless steel sink also erases garlic smell... ain't science grand?
I use my sink and rub my hands while running cold water.
You can also rub some fresh tomato juice on your hands. That definitely takes away the onion smell
That bread looks sooooo good! And yes, those metal 'soap bars' really do work. They take away the odors of onion, garlic, fish, etc. beautifully.
I love how you measure garlic. For me four cloves means six to eight. Garlic bread is so yummy and this recipe looks great! I have a stainless steel soap bar and it works!
