- Today, Euro NCAP publishes its third round of safety results for 2022. The KIA EV6 and the Mercedes C-Class, both large family cars, are awarded the top five-star rating. Volvo’s C40 Recharge also gets the full five stars as does the new Multivan from Volkswagen. Stellantis’ cousins, the Opel/Vauxhall Astra and Peugeot 308, are both rated as four star cars in the small family category.
The sixth generation Opel/Vauxhall Astra and third generation Peugeot 308 are both based on the Stellantis EMP2 platform and, unsurprisingly, score very similarly across all four areas of assessment. Both the offset test and the full-width crash test highlighted marginal chest injury protection for average male and small female drivers, and neither car was equipped with a centre airbag for far-side crash protection, a countermeasure which is increasingly common on modern cars. Both cars offer plenty of crash avoidance technology but do not include some of the latest advancements introduced in the market. The cars’ four-star ratings apply also to their PHEV variants.
All of the five-star cars in this test series demonstrated excellent crash protection, with scores of 90% or more, compared to 76% and 80% for the Stellantis’ cars. This dispels the notion that the difference between 5 stars and 4 stars is always due to ADAS, although that is often also the case. The cars showed consistently good results for child occupant protection as well. The largest differences between the EV6, C-Class, C40 Recharge and Multivan can be found in VRU protection they offer, in particular front-end performance, where the C-Class, fitted with an active bonnet, outperforms the KIA EV6 by a significant margin. On overall assistance technology, the Volvo C40 Recharge came out on top. Despite its somewhat different, boxy shape, the VW Multivan put in a solid all-round result that was on a par with the cars tested. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

Those figures are on the basis of several trials and checks. Whereas the video is to give you a glimpse of those tests. Had it not hit the child in that moment that score would have been 85 instead of 70

The hit reduced the score of that test but in other similar tests it did overall better and so an overall better score. The Kia also hit the bicycle, and that with less as convincing performances in each specific pedestrian test gave it a lower overall pedestrian safety score. Had the Volvo not hit the doll the overall score would've been significantly higher than 70%. So would the Kia's score if hadn't hit the bicycle.
That's what I believe anyway.

The Kia did not hit the bicycle. Check again. It only pulled on the tracks on the ground with it's braking tires, due to friction, but it did not hit the bicycle at all.
I have checked again and the Kia didn't hit the bicycle, it ran over a plastic strap behind the bicycle.
People in denial will see things that don't exist and convince themselves that hitting a bike is more serious than running over a kid...someone needs to give you a good slap in the face to shake you out of your delusion.
I (obviously) own a Volvo XC40 (not the C40 but they're basically the same car, just the C40 is slightly heavier) and I was driving down a road where a child popped out exactly like the test dummy did. Mind you this is essentially a main-street/very busy road with a posted speed-limit of 45 MPH (admittedly I was going 48), and my Volvo came to a near complete stop and avoided hitting the child. When I tell you I was sacred sh*tless from how close I came to hitting that little boy, but thankfully my Volvo did it's job. Coincidentally enough this was like 3-4 weeks ago too (haha). Anyways yea IDK what happened in their test but my car does it perfectly fine (Ik there are many factors, mainly the C40 is a heavier vehicle and what not)!

Kia makes horrible cars. I test drove a new KIA Ceed and it was the worst car I've ever tested. After that my appreciation for my old Mercedes E-series at that time grew immensely.

@@limmingjun7930 Yes if their most popular new product was horrible, it speaks volumes of their products in general. Like with Toyota, you don't need to drive many of them to realize that they are just nasty to drive. There's only a couple of exceptions such as Land Cruiser 200 series or Lexus LS :)

But then you think: I'm paying Mercedes price to drive a KIA, is that a good deal? Would you prefer the neighbors see a star on your car at the driveway or a KIA badge? :D
A KIA badge all day, won't want a star badge that holds the reputation of breaking down, stupid repair costs, and overall terrible reliability. KIA all day, mate, can't change my mind.

중국 전기차중 테스트 뒤에 불이 난 차가 꽤 있어요
배터리에 못을 박아도 화재가 안나더군요..
추돌 테스트에선 불 안납니다. 그렇게 설계했거든요. 불나는 차들은 100km/h 정도의 속도로 때려박은 사례가 많습니다. 이 속도로 충돌은 가솔린 전기 할 것 없이 사망을 의미하는거라 현재 기술력으론 어쩔 수 없습니다. 애초에 추돌 테스트들이 시속 60km까지 있는 이유가 이 이상 속도로 사고나면 걍 휴지조각 되거든요. 실제 고속도로 사고에선 여러가지 이유로 감속이 일어나고 충돌하기 때문에 생존자들이 많은 것이구요.
실제로 한국에서 화재가 났다고 하는 아이오닉도 순간 화재발생 후 바로 꺼졌습니다 배터리에서의 화재 문제가 아니었어요
