  • The Porsche 944 Turbo is quite the drivers car. Filled with 1980's nostalgia and complimented with great handling it is a real delight that is going to continue to appreciate over time.

I have an 89 Turbo and it’s nothing like any other sport car I’ve owned. It puts an ear to ear smile on my face every time I take a drive.

Now, in 2022, the “skyrocketing” has begun.

All of the reasons you listed is why I bought a Porsche 944 Turbo a couple of months ago as a running and driving light project.

I wouldn't buy one because I have one already - i have mine 20 years and you captured exactly why I really love mine ! Mine is 87 as well and just does it all so well ! It will do what is asked and still make you smile - so much feel good from her ! Was it too good at the time ?

Donal James Caddye that is awesome Donal! It is such a wonderful drive and for a great price still! This has been my favourite car to drive. I hope it brings you many more years of enjoyment!

I have the same year, an '87 951 (US model) and it is a blast, and a very reliable car. Plus, the engine out front means that I can do a bit of the work on it myself! Sure, the timing belts I leave to the pros, but I have changed a number of things on it. Nice video!

There's a 944 that's just been sitting in someone's driveway unused down the road. Don't know if its driving however maybe I bag a good deal!

I prefer the non turbo, just me, just bought one last Oct from the original owner. Love it truly.

What are the pros to the non turbo?

LiamCassell super “pure analog car” so Simple, rock solid reliability of the 8Vengine, much less expensive to fix vs Turbo hardware that needs to be removed. Don’t get me wrong, the Turbo is a great car. I just wanted a normally aspirated. I also have a 2010 Carrera 4S with 400 bhp, so I wanted some more relaxing. I drove it 2500 miles last year from San Jose to Calgary with a buddy, it was supremely comfortable. Just buy the best example you can afford as many are dodgy. I have it’s entire history from day 1, sales contract, all service records, everything. My 29 year old son has driven it a few times recently, the car is 6 years older than him, he had a grin from ear to ear.

I had an 85.5 N/A years ago, love the handling but wish it had more power. The 951 is much better as far as handling and power for that era.

@@sonnyh.8212 agree completely, but for me extracting the maximum from 3500 to 6100 ram makes it so involving. Again just me. Dont forget I have a 385 bhp 997.2 C4S so I love the divide.

Agreed. With the 26/6 turbo I need to wait until 3200 for the boost to kick in.
