What an amazing time of the year to be out riding! It's not too hot, borderline not too cold and we managed to avoid the rain.
    Details on the ride: www.motorides.com.au/rides/wo...
It's been a while since being on the bike regularly, so it took a few kilometres to get back into the groove.
We took a run-up North through Old Pacific Highway, over the Gosford, picked up a few mates and then took Wisemans Ferry Road North to Wollombi via Bucketty. Up to Broke through the back skirts of the Hunter Valley then head South down Putty Road for a late lunch at Grey Gums Cafe. After a bloody good pie, back down through Colo to home.
This is a bit of a long one!

Stopped at the Wollombi pub on Sunday on our way back to Sydney from a weekend in Cessnock. Picked up a bottle of Dr Jerd’s Jungle Juice. Perfect to warm up with when we got back home ( bloody freezing ride home)

Nice day out alright. If you're comfortable on your bike, a loop around Sydney, Denman, Lithgow via the Bylong Valley Way, and home again is very do-able in a day. Some nice open stretches with visibility to spot the "hazards" along the Castlereagh Highway as well. I was 63 when I last did it, so you blokes should crap it in if you wanted to give it a crack. Anyway, enjoy your bike and big thumbs up for the video shots.

Enjoyed the vid! Good camera angles and some great editing and commentary. I'm starting to plan my next big yearly trip on my Honda CB500X (His name is Hogan)
I will be setting of from close to the NSW / QLD border here in Murwillumbah and ending up at Port Cambell on The Great Ocean Road Victoria. (about 10 day ride and about 5,000 km round trip) . Riding in Mid-November this year. 2024.
Putty Road is definitely something I'm looking forward to!
I haven't owned a car for almost 2 years now, so "Hogan" and I are best mates and very much in "sync" with each over as I ride nearly every day. But I also totally get it, when you talk about how it takes time to get back in sync with your bike after not ridding for a while.
I didn't ride "Hogan" for just 1 week after a big road trip last year, (4,000 Km) and even just after one week off the bike, it felt very different to what I was used to normally.

Just had my first week of riding to work and back every day of the week instead of riding once a fortnight or so. Day 3 I finally felt at one with the bike. In fact - after riding for a year I've never ridden as frequently as this week and it definitely makes a difference.

Love the awareness of differences of feel and appropriate safety margins applied, it’s a wisdom that you learn or end up in the hospital if ignored.
I can recommend checking out Peter Von Gomm rides through Tokyo, especially the night ones. I recon you’d like his riding style.

Nice vid mate but you might want to revisit the editing. You've got the run into Wollombi after you left the pub. At first I thought Jerry's fell into a spacial anomaly and exited on the road to Broke.

I'm only able to ride every second weekend when my partner and I don't have our respective kids. From next year though I'll be able to start riding to work so it'll be interesting to see how much more natural it feels once I do that. I do feel comfortable riding only that frequently, but do find myself thinking about the things you were describing. Towards the end of a longer ride, like a weekend out to St Albans, it does start to feel more automatic. You guys ever thought about getting Cardo intercoms? The freecom 4+ lets you have 4 riders connected so you can chat while you ride. My partner and I find it really useful when we're out riding together.

Hi, I'm from France and I'd like to move to Australia once I'm done with my studies, is there alot of police repression when it comes to out-of-town riding ? (here in France you are mostly controled in town, but when you go to the mountain you're free enough to have fun with your bike)

It's not so bad here mate. There are police around but you just have to pick and choose the times you do ride hard

im think of getting a helmet cam for my rides, but im a lams rider and live in NSW and alot pll said its ilegal for me to use one?

    • @MotoRidesAustralia
      @MotoRidesAustralia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I've got a video that talks to that subject: th-cam.com/video/TgIcTv3dI6Q/w-d-xo.html
It's from a while back but pretty sure nothing's changed since then, it's not illegel but it's not legal either. As long as it's not interfearing with the structure of the helmet. Personally, I would because of hit and runs and blame mentality towards motorbikes. Preconceived opinions that the bike is in the wrong are a good reason to have an undoubtable say in your favour....as long as you're not in the wrong of course! :-)
