The Alocasia will want to be a little higher, maybe 1 more brick, basically have the soil level and water level the same. I would cover the mud in the bucket with gravel or the aquatic soil you used in the bottom. It will look neater and stop the mud getting stirred up and covering everything. If you are worried about fish getting trapped in the bucket, you can either cut off the rim, or pack it higher with gravel/rocks.
I haven't set up my first pond yet. Spring 2025 will be the "Year Of The Water Gardens" mimicking the "Year Of The Wind Chime" of last spring. But I have found this content and I could listen to him all day long. What great info and he's so ready to listen to. The education I've gained is tremendous!!
I love watching your pond videos. The guppies in my 50 gal patio pond were all eaten by frogs, but how can I be mad at frogs for living their best life? I can still enjoy the plants!
Bro can you do me a solid please??? Post a video or link me one you’ve made that helps us prevent neighborhood Tom cats from eating the fish. It hasn’t happened as I’m just about to make that long horizontal pond you have now. I have an established big fruit, veggies herbs and flower garden so rodents like mice and raccoons like to swing by. In the past month I started to befriend these neighborhood Tom cats to help me with these other creatures. I’m thinking of setting up a motion sensing sprinkler system. Please help thank you. I am gonna return my cat man membership card.😂
I've seen a few TH-camrs doing the patio pond thing, but you've been by far the top dog in the people I watch. So I wanted to thank you for all the great videos that inspired me and convinced me that even I can handle one. I set mine up next to my reading spot inside because it's too hot to go outside a good chunk of the year where I'm at. I've got a few house plants growing hydroponically and some water mimosa that the neon tetras I got love swimming in, plus a couple snails for cleanup. I'm already working on my second one to go outside next to my front door to greet everyone coming to my home next. I might have caught the bug from you.
Nice clean up of the knife and evidence. 🧐😅 You're so right on the light fish/ dark substrate, dark fish/ light substrate. I have a light sand substrate but the sides of the pot are dark and the pond is stocked w/ blue Moscow guppies. I only ever really see the males when the sun hits their iridescence. 😅
Loved the video this week Mike. Those new rice fish really show up great too. I said last week that the rainbow shiners behaviour looked promising and now you got eggs. Great stuff, can't wait to see how things proceed with them
I happen to get 5 from Daku last month after a Reddit reference. The fish are beautiful! Not to mention breeding like mad! Such a lovely strain! Love your videos keep ‘em coming!
I love the little spawning mops you make. For me I'd be gluing some fake plants to the tops or a leaf just to make them blend in better lol. But I only have one pond and no fish in it yet so we'll see what I decide to get. Right now it's a breeding setup for daphnia and ramshorn snails and plant grow out while I wait to set up my aquarium.
Finally I’ve got the laziest among my friends excited because of today’s super-easy pond setup. The recharging light really got to him. We’ll keep you posted. Down here it won’t get cold until Dec-Jan. Thanks again for a great how-to (with sources!) as always, T 👊🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏🎉 you’re the best!
This video comes at a great time. I'm about to make a porch pond for some wild type endlers ❤ I have water wisteria, Salvinia, and hornwort, would that work?
Hooray for pond season. I just about have mine set up. I need some plants for the bottom of the pond and then I just need fish. I found a 15 gallon resin planter at Costco that was really affordable. I just add some water from my indoor tanks to get that bacteria. My ricefish are platinums - maybe they are the same thing as blue miyuki - they look just like yours. So pretty & definitely my favorite.
Love 💗 Love 💕 Love ❣️ I only have the. 35 gallon whiskey barrel pond with mountain minnows gold, and grey .Your enthusiasm is really inspiring. In my area we don't have pond plants in our Lowes , or Home Depot. I have ordered online with Home Depot my Egyptian papyrus my dwarf papyrus my arrowhead plant plus red water iris. Not sure where I'm going to them, come Autumn. Do you bring your plants inside?
I want to try my first outside pond and this is exactly what I want to try. How often do you feed an outside pond? Is it different then an indoor tank?
Do you sell your rice fish? I bought some from a fish store and they were doing well, but died once the temp reached 80 outside. Wondering if I need some that are used to being outside.
Dude! Put the Alocasia black magic a little higher. It's stem shouldn't be submerged into the water, just submerge the pot and let the plant be above the water or else it'll die A little top by a plant lover 😉 Btw Great Sharing 😇
Hey, always enjoy watching your videos!!! Keep them coming :-). Thought I would let you know I ordered 10 Fish from Daku 5 Blue and 5 Orange … but what I got was the SMALLEST fish I’ve ever seen… ordered them and never received a ship date or tracking to know when they would deliver they delivered the 5th. I was out of town and they sat out side all day :-(. Of my 10 super tiny baby fish I have 4, 3 blue and 1 orange that have survived … I will never order from them again…. Glad you got older / larger more stable fish than what babies I got… I am praying these 4 survive or I’m out my $70.00 :-(. Very sad about this whole shipment … BUT I as I said early love your channel keep the Vids coming!!!
Hi. What was the coupon code? Mine were outside in a shady spot and it did get in the high 90's. Again, in the shade which I'm sure makes all the difference. Because it dips into the teens, I have them inside now but keeping them in an unheated area. So it does get cold but not they are not out in the elements 🙂
When I was a kid I thought I’d just have buckets growing up .. 😂 my parents had sooo many and diff sizes .. like where did yall get all them buckets ?😂😂😂😂
@AQUAPROS 😂 "Professor Mike, with the hunting knife, on the patio table."😅 (... and BTW as I missed the video along the way and my curiosity can't take it anymore... what's the story behind the life-size Raptor replica? Did you just randomly see it and go oh I want that or did the little bugger follow you home one night and mommy let you keep him? Etc?)
@@AQUAPROS ...why yes, yes I do. I have a big cuckoo clock for precisely that reason. I would also count my last significant other for that same motivation LOL. Probably too many times lol well I think your raptor is cool as f*** but it is pretty random. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it outside of a museum or at the dinosaur exhibit at the zoo I used to work at. I think it's one of the reasons why I have more fish tanks than Old Mother Hubbard in the shoe had kids. Does it have a name?
My backyard is a lake. Can I just use stuff from my lake to build a container pond. For example could I use the rocks and sand and soil? Could I use lake water for my rice fish (I don’t any yet but ordering this week) @AQUAPROS
Biggest problem with this, toads and dragonfly larvaes will kill your fishes, sometimes even to the point of the death of entire colonies of whatever you kept I've lost multiple colonies of guppies to these 2 things, always check your mini ponds daily for signs of toads or dragonflies, and if you saw one dragonfly larvaes, then there's more of em If possible, cover your mini fish pond with mesh coverings or something

Looking good man. Lots of action over there. Gonna be overrun by the end of the summer 🔥🔥🤙🏼
@@the.medaka.lair. tooo many fish! This is half your fault... lol
I have miyuki rice fish😊 they do great for me, outside, year-round
Shirtless Mike has me 🙈 every time. My favorite thirst trap aquarium TH-camr.
Good idea for fundraiser

@17:21 - 17:25 are those little orbs eggs?
yes
Hey what soil was in the elephant ear? We have a few but never considered them in a pond.
Is it possible to bring the whole pot indoors to overwinter? What to do with the plants that are in the pot?
What are the vining plants at 09:27?
I love you ❤
Ps. Love your videos.
Any concerns about mosquitos on the little ponds or birds grabbing the fish?
Cover with small gap wire or mesh to prevent them being snatched

When u top off water due to evaporation, do u dechlorinate the water?
I typically dont, ONLY because my water has very low Cl to begin with
I do, our water has metals and chloromines. Can use RO or distilled water which is pure
The dark blue miyuki colors better in ponds with sunlight, else they are more faded in colors.

How do you keep outdoor planter and bucket ponds from overflowing when it rains? Or is that not an issue?
He poked a hole about an inch from the top for overflow.
When I was a kid I thought I’d just have buckets growing up .. 😂 my parents had sooo many and diff sizes .. like where did yall get all them buckets ?😂😂😂😂
Hallo, first comment. Greetings and blessings from Curaçao.

How do you keep fish eating birds out of your ponds? Thanks
Cover with wire mesh
You look tired man but the setups are cool and inspiring
@AQUAPROS have you ever tried TH-camrs father fish tank?
Yes. His natural style is effective
What part of the country are you in. I’m in Michigan. I most likely have to bring the ponds in in December.
PNW
Where did you get the raptor lol?
Can you put one of these types of ponds on the inside of your home permanently?
Yes but the plants will need to get light from a window or artificially
Why do you not have to cycle the container ponds like you would an aquarium?
If you use aged water (left for days to evaporate chloromines) and/or used water from another pond or aquarium - it becomes. cycled within 24 hours
@8:30 lol pretty sure you've got too many witnesses
lol im busted! hahah
bro get polarising lens to film without glare.
Too wordy😅😅😅😅😅😅
