After tour small trip into a threatened Betta smaragdina habitat in the far eastern region of Thailand by the Mekong river slowly being caved in by stone quarries threatening to destroy their environment, I'm Frank or some may know me as FranksBettas take things into my own hands and collect specimens to conserve the bloodline of these fish by breeding and re-releasing their fry to populate a new safer habitat in my area.
This video shows how these beautiful fish breed in captivity and tirelessly the father takes care of his fry.

Have to love these betta fishes..they are the most unique fish i ever came across and frank does a great job in preserving the most unique and beautiful strain of the fish..i would love to have a franks betta someday soon

Amazing, I love your work! The fancy bettas in the aquarium hobby are beautiful but the wild types have their own unique beauty that no amount of selective breeding can compare to. I'm currently at Kedah near the Thailand border, so it's mindblowing that someone is so close doing such great work while I'm complaining about university stress. Really, I feel ashamed.

Dad did a great job. And Frank did it too! Maybe some day I can also learn how to breed this wonderful fishs.
I have never seen a single betta that's iridescent in any pet shop ever.. Even in the high end betta market they tend to just be incredibly bright solid colors.. It's incredible how different the wild ones are... and in my opinion, how much better they are.
