The FBI needs to investigate the judges and DA, something is not normal going on in SF and in California. To let this guy out and dismiss 99% of the charges is an insult to the residents of SF.
Why should he get arrested? He's not the one with connections in Vietnam. It's your job to take guys like Sonza off the streets. Police don't care about licenses during an investigation with a law abiding citizen and a criminal. It's fine 10 times out of 10.

@@dangeroustomanHello, dumb dumb. I guess you didn't watch the video? The police are pissed. They are literally risking their lives to catch these crooks, only for the judge to release them almost immediately. That's a huge slap in the face.
Unfortunately we have a legal system not a justice system. If we had a justice system that guy would have to worry every day how he is going to wipe his ass because his fingers have been chopped off.
It's a shame, these officers puts their life's in danger for these dirt bags for what? So the judge can let him go free? Something is definitely wrong with this picture.
What's the point of enforcing the Laws? When they are in favor of the criminals and not the Law abiding Citizens. Repeating offenders should have no bail and more time in jail.
@freshdindumuffins9111I'm not against you on this, but who is responsible for teaching them? It's a persons responsibility to educate themselves once they reach adulthood and without proper education, (especially on methods to successfully raise a child) individuals will entrap themselves into a system that does not offer support for them, and they will inevitably teach their children their own poorly controlled behaviors that lead to inappropriate misbehavior as depicted in this video. The public prosecutor in SF is also to blame. I spent many years working in SF and I recall a story of a man who was breaking into cars and was caught and let go many times. They finally kept him behind bars after he stabbed someone. I guess my point is that multiple parts of the system are failing.
I got caught at the age of 19 breaking into cars in Mobile, Al. back in 1990. I was given a 10 year sentence and it changed my life. I got my GED on the inside as well. I was given a full pardon many years later and now I'm an Insurance adjuster and a law abiding citizen. If you ask people who know me today that would never believe I did those things. People can change. But you have to feel the severity of what your doing and know it was wrong. I have also seen people that no matter what you do to them they will never stop. Update to answer some questions below. I broke into 11 cars that night and was charged with 11 different cases. I had a court appointed attorney that I feel like could have done much better. Back in the early 90's Alabama judges were tough on every type of crime. The Pardon After staying out of trouble for more then 20 years I got an attorney and applied for a pardon and it was approved by the Alabama Pardon & Parole Board. It restored all my civil liberties and restored my gun rights. I served 2 & 1/2 inside then I got parole and then I ended my sentence on parole about 9 months later. In Alabama if you stay out of trouble while incarcerated you will serve only a 3rd of your sentence. 3 years / 3 months on a 10 year sentence. Alabama changed the law so you still got good time while on parole ( 2 days for every one day served)
The liberal regressive mindset is that anyone can be redeemed, it's a noble ignorance. They don't understand that some people are just born without compassion or the inherent traits that make a moral human being. Of course, if those criminals were republican they'd want to lock them up and throw away the key.
As the lady points out, most correctly, this is someone who is a decided wrongdoer. This is not wayward and troubled youth, this is not one horrible mistake in their life. This is someone who's proving, beyond any doubt, he intends to do this always, again, as a choice, knowingly and professionally.

I have to give serious props to the abc 7 team for doing this and showing the perp, his picture and his name. This needs to be done more often to hold hold the DA, the judges and the perp responsible for the travesty of justice that is going on. That matters when these officials are called out on specific cases. Especially to the judges, hopefully the news will show which judge is preceding over the case and approving the hand slaps for multiple violent felonies.
Judges don't make the laws, and judges are legally bound to follow the policies, procedures, and directives of the local district, city, or county attorney's office. Most often, those policies, procedures, and directives are set by city councils or county commissions. In many cases, the policies and directives are set by the state attorney general or the governor in California. If someone should in some way be held accountable, it is the people who vote for and install the various attorneys, council member, commissioner, and legislators who set the legal standards.
Jails are full, Einstein. All 30 plus California prisons are at 115% capacity. Jails and prisons are not stopping crime. Criminals are not afraid of prisons. Do the math. California spends 15 billion dollars for the Department of Corrections. 122 thousand inmates. We need to jail 5 to 10 % of the State. 40 million people live in California. What would it cost to lock up 2 million to 4 million criminals? And that is just California. 49 other States.
Regardless of how extent the law gives to these criminals. The jails are already at the maximum capacity. The issue is our law system is too weak. If implemented the law with hands cut off after a second crime committed. The crime rate will drop to 90%.
Retailers are pulling out of San Francisco by the dozens each year as the DA office stopped prosecuting for shoplifting. But, it is a crime for security guards to use any force to stop the thieves. So, word has gotten around that it is too dangerous to be a security guard and the police will not respond. Target, pharmacies, Starbucks, etc. closing many locations. And, restaurants losing business because people afraid to park anywhere in SF (or Oakland). The convention centers are next to go belly up because many organizations have learned the hard way that SF is a big liability.
Had a local car stopped by the police. Three preps in a stolen car and the driver had a ankle bracelet. They were put in county jail for a few hours and let go. Under age at 14- 16, so they were untouchable according to the court records...
According to the DMV there are 492,336 registered vehicles in San Francisco. 22,700 break-ins were reported in 2022, which means there is a 1 in 20 chance that your car will be broken into in the city of SF. A 1 in 20 chance during a single year and not taking into account the fact that a lot of break-ins go unreported. Insanity.
City can be saved with tough on crime measures. Honestly I think the issue is a bit deeper than everyone is thinking. Home prices fell by over 30% someone will scoop up all that commercial and residential land and then you will see tough on crime candidates being backed by big money to drive value back up
needs more than that, that won't stop crime...only one thing truly stops crime and everyone thinks more police or whatever will change something...nothing changes, except when there are less cops. Arresting people and they will be out again and again but worse each time. Maybe Californians should start sending the inmates to Russia or China so they can actually learn to appreciate how amazing out country is....well should be
It doesn't matter how many people you arrest, it matters how many people you can keep behind bars. If you're arresting people for breaking into a car and releasing them the same day then it doesn't make a difference at all.
So you're suggesting what, keep people in prison for life for breaking into cars? That doesn't seem disproportionate? You also have to ask if being in prison ACTUALLY rehabilitates people. The research shows that it doesn't, and often has the opposite effect. Prison is not rehabilitation and positive behavior change, it's just punishment. I care more about actual behavioral change than retribution against people who are in desperate enough circumstances to make them break into cars.
@@evanbarnes9984 Yes, absolutely keep people in prison for breaking into cars. The alternative of letting them go over and over again doesn't seem to work. What kind of absolute moron believes the solution to rampant crime is to let criminals go? No, prison doesn't rehabilitate people and it's not supposed to. It's supposed to take them out of society where they can't hurt people, and make them think twice about committing crimes in the future. It's not supposed to turn them into a productive member of society. You SJW's and your idiotic ideas are beyond absurd. "I care more about actual behavioral change than retribution against people who are in desperate enough circumstances to make them break into cars." Cool, then go to the prisons and try to "rehabilitate" these monsters. Care all you want about them. Everyone else just wants them out of their hair and not breaking into our cars and murdering them. Laws need to be changed so that people with lengthy criminal records who are out on parole face a multiplier if they're caught doing new crimes like this guy was. With his lengthy history, being on parole, and doing numerous crimes he should have gotten at least 10 years.
There are. But, just saw a video where a 3rd offense DWI got pled down to a 2nd offense DWI. How does that even work? How can you have two convictions for a 2nd offense for the same crime? Oh, and yeah- they got another DWI not long afterwards.

Agreed - This all comes down to shining a light NOT on the people stealing the goods from people's cars, but on the District Attorneys and Judges who are "going easy" on the criminals. Once they start enforcing the laws and not giving these criminals plea deals, you will see all of this stop. If they are not doing their jobs, vote them out!

It's the district attorney making that deal, they have thousands of similar cases and just want to speed everything up by dismissing most charges..it's ineptitude of the highest order of justice. That DA should be barred and fired.
The fact that this one guy has been arrested 15+ times (which means that he likely has broken into over 100 cars, and is very good at it) is hilariously sad. They just keep letting the guy free.
He's pretty incompetent as a burglar, seems he has a low IQ. Smart burglars don't resist arrest like he did which easily in many states could have become an attempted murder charge. I recall a master burglar here in DC that was responsible for millions of dollars in theft back in the 1980s and was finally caught after decades of evading police (and he escaped from a maximum security prison later). That guy was skilled in his craft. This kid comes across as a low-IQ crackhead. Glad I'm out of Cali, it's a great place to work but I wouldn't want to live there.
The fact ssomeone with more than 3 crimes is on the streets is insane lock these low life, thugs, waste of human life in jail for life. They are not capable of being around people. They lost their rights to be apart of civil society.
He's a snitch. As much as people love to give SF shit, you don't get to both run over cops and then ram them with your car. Without going to prison, just going on with your day, like you got out of a ticket. Dude became an informant because the cops want whole operations instead of one crazy person.
What’s going on in SF is ridiculous. A lengthy criminal record and numerous new charges should put the perp in jail for 5 years minimum. I’m a liberal, but not that liberal. WTF is wrong with the SF “justice” system?
Unfortunately this issue is being seen in Dallas Texas, Vegas, Chicago, you name the big metro and they have the same issue. I bet stolen goods from other cities are tracked to the same countries also. Its a issue with our court system countrywide. They have no place to put people so the answer is let em go.
I don’t think the people running the show are liberals. Frank Jordan is a liberal. If you look at someone like Chesa Boudin what drives him is I think, the will to destroy and power for its own sake. He lied about cases and committed several breaches of legal ethics whilst he was DA. He should not be allowed to ever even clean toilets for city hall, much less run the prosecutors office
It seems organized maybe involves bribes and kickbacks. I hope there's internal investigations against prosecutors and judges. When the records show a pattern of leniency.
Thank the Judges for letting him go. S F needs some new Judges. They should be heald accountable.

Judges that allows those people to get back into the streets should be punished. They should be held liable and pay the victims for their losses. The day this happens, I doubt judges will be lenient to those kind of things.
It’s a non violent crime in a state where prison and jails are over populated they just take them to station put them in the system get a court date hearing and leave the same day
@you can't just reopen it.... it will cost a lot of money to bring it up to date. It also closed because it was more expensive to keep it open and running... it's on an island. Thats not cheap.
As a native who lives across the Golden Gate, I can tell you that many people do not like traveling to SF for this reason. It is dangerous and not worth the risk of getting things stolen. I believe drastic measures should be taken against these criminals because they won't stop and nothing will stop them. Even stores in my local area are putting items behind glass because of all this lawless prop. Times have changed
There's an 89% chance that the citizens are responsible for this. 89% of the Bay Area voted Blue. Times have changed alright, vote with disdain instead of policies. Get what you vote for and I hope you're one of those that didn't vote for this. I have family in San Jose and they said it's a shit show now. I'm from a purple town and the liberals are old school liberals, you try that in this town of 29,000 people and you're locked up. It's why business are moving here. Plenty of small local business and shopping centers. Home Depot, Walmart, Target, Dicks, BJ's (Northeast Costco type store), Popeyes, Taco Bell, McD, BK, Chipotle, Starbucks, TJ Maxx, big box grocery stores, countless small restaurants, CVS, Walgreens, bowling alley, tattoo shops, etc. 2 mile strip shopping plaza. 4 different new car dealerships, a park with a jogging trail, 2 basketball courts, baseball field, and ducks, with a giant pool for the community. Amazon is building a multi-million sqft warehouse and 24 hour gas stations are all over the place, they're not getting robbed left and right. I can go for fresh baked pizza at 3am at a gas station, made to order, without worrying about getting jacked. It's why I left the city. I got tired of the addicts snooping around my car, or people stealing things out of my yard, or the shootings, random guy banging at my door at 10pm, or the summer of love protesting on my street.
Same thing happens in British Columbia, the police catch criminals and within a few hours they are back on the street. A man stabbed a pregnant woman and was back on the street the same day. The police have statistics that show the same small group of people are committing 70% + of all the crimes. There are people with a long list that has sometimes 30 charges.
Not just "amount to nothing". Literally inevitably ends in either prison or death. When "unarmed protected class" people threaten their lives, the police will inevitably end up in prison afterwards if they defend themselves.
I'd quit my job and get a different career if I were them. Ain't worth risking my life over low life criminals who will certainly get a slap on the hand and let go the next day or two.
leave the public defender out of this, he has done absolutely nothing wrong. I think you mean the prosecutors and the DA, among the judges you mentioned
Maybe not in this case but the one defending the guy who whacked the retired fire captain over the head with a pipe accused the victim of using bear spray (without evidence) and then got the guy released because the victim was still recovering and didn’t make it to court. But I think the defendant, a homeless man with a history of drug abuse and violent behavior, is going to be prosecuted, finally. How much time he will get who knows?
@@DeathhAngel1it really is D.A and prosecuters. Look at all the cities like NY and Chicago. The same thing is goin on. Journalist that take notes about court rooms usually write down everything the judges and prosecuters say and how the prosecuters tend to just stay quiet and not say anything that could let to criminals being arrested or held in jail. All of last year prosecuters never asked judges to hold criminals without bail no matter how bad the the crimes were. Now w safet act prosecuters are again failing the public by not requesting judges to hold violent or repeat offenders in jail. Instead they walk because ofcourse criminals cant afford bail since they dont work. So they just walk freely and go commit more crime.
What are they full of? Is there any way to release the nonviolent offenders who want to contribute to society? I’m seriously curious because I see this time and again.
@@OwenGilmoreOG Jails aren't really full, but at the turn of the century, we had a massive problem with horribly overcrowded prisons and corrupt judges. The right had been privatizing prisons, and Prisons made a LOT of money, Judges were getting kickbacks to put people in Prisons, I was one of these people, I was 22 and had bounced a $210 cheque at the grocery store because my paycheck hadn't cleared yet..was an honest mistake. I was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison. I only spent a month in, then eventually got it reversed and my record sealed. SO, drastic measures were taken to empty the prisons, we had cells meant for 1 person hold 8 people, it was bad. Yet, as it always happens, people go to the extreme, so they got very light on prison sentences. Not long after that, Trump got elected and decided to go after San Francisco due to the Sanctuary City status, which caused the DA and other people to purposefully not charge illegals, I guess that was because doing so made Trump look like he was winning the immigrant war... and, as you can guess, that also got out of hand. Then the Lager loogie hit, restaurants, bars, etc closed down, creating big areas where people could hang out in front of and not be bothered, it also massively reduced the amount of police.
Dozens of time without remorse? Chopping hands are the only solution based on the Holy Book for those who don't show any regret, this is really in the state of emergency we need to bring back safe & security to the city, try/test partial sharia in one city, if suddenly it becomes as safe as Dubai then ask the people to implement this on the whole country
I just can't understand why the authorities HAVEN'T BEEN DOING THIS CONSISTENTLY for the past 3 years; since covid this stuff has been beyond ridiculous.
Cause they’re never prosecuted.. they just spend the night in a cell, no bail free to go. Court never prosecutes cause petty crime statistics are racist now.
It's a liberal agenda. They have all the capabilities to do the right thing. But they let things like this go on and on and on only to then supple a "solution" which is usually at the detriment of our provacy or rights. Portland is looking to put facial recognition software in stores. We don't need facial recognition! We know who they are! Cuz when we catch them we give them a cup of water and put them back on the street. It's not catching them that's the problem. It's the punishment that they're not doing. On purpose. One has to wonder why.
This is what the ultra-far-left "progressive," woke liberals backed by Soros have done to SF, which is what Newsom wants to do to all of America. This is the Democrats running SF and the people who voted for them. They are getting exactly what they voted for with these Soros-backed DA's he is putting into offices around the country. I live in a neighboring REPUBLICAN run state, and we don't even want people moving into our state from CA unless they were other like-minded conservatives who are the victims of CA liberals ruining their state and now seeking refuge. If you are from CA and voted Democrat, by law you should have to stay there and enjoy what you created.
Police can't do their work since there's so many policy to not engage, thats why there's a shortage in SFPD. A lot of them quit cuz of the stupid laws.

Any judge or prosecutor that allows this career criminal to re-enter society needs to be arrested immediately, charged with aiding and abetting, and locked up with him.
12 charges of hit and run, injuries, destruction of property and all he got was evading?? In other places in the world this guy would be serving hard time for 30 years minimum. We need hardened criminals to get tough punishments. If he just made 1 mistake that is debatable but 5 years and a long lost of criminal behavior?
Ah, San Francisco. Poor baby probably had a disadvantaged youth. Therefore we should let him steal anything he wants. How's that workin' for ya, Frisco?
The problem here seems less the police and their ability to arrest, and more the judicial system which keeps spitting him back out with minimal consequences. He has been arrested more than a dozen times in a five year period and I’m certain will continue down that path. There is no deterrent effect to arrest if you are able to resume car burglaries within a month or two. Somehow even with his record, which includes hit and run, he managed to get on a probation program. It boggles the mind how Police are supposed to do anything when that is the prosecutors and judges are handling cases.
Absolutely disgusting how such deals can be cut, and career criminals are out in no time continuing terrorizing citizens. It's time to reactivate 3 strikes out!
Outrageous as the officer pointed out that soft DA’s and Judges are letting prolific criminals like this guy back out on the street after dropping all charges. Unbelievable.

"5% down from last year" is like giving someone a 5% discount off a 100% markup. Also SF doesn't need bait cars, they just need to 1) actually arrest people doing the bad things and 2) actually have them face consequences. It's not because it's fun to punish people. You just have to do that to keep a small percentage of the population from making the rest of the population suffer.

The Pardon
After staying out of trouble for more then 20 years I got an attorney and applied for a pardon and it was approved by the Alabama Pardon & Parole Board.
This should have the most thumbs up here! And right below it, my comment about backing up your photos, if I do say so myself.

Judges should be held accountable for letting people like this out of jail.
If implemented the law with hands cut off after a second crime committed. The crime rate will drop to 90%.

That explains why police aren’t motivated to capture those criminals as they will be released.

In other places in the world this guy would be serving hard time for 30 years minimum. We need hardened criminals to get tough punishments. If he just made 1 mistake that is debatable but 5 years and a long lost of criminal behavior?

Good. Most of the time, these are repeat offenders that need to STAY in jail.
"5% down from last year" is like giving someone a 5% discount off a 100% markup. Also SF doesn't need bait cars, they just need to 1) actually arrest people doing the bad things and 2) actually have them face consequences. It's not because it's fun to punish people. Yea 5% drop isn't much, but if not for their efforts it might be up 50% from last year

I wonder what the law makers have stand to gain for allowing this rampant theft.
