Very nice! This green is great. Reminds me of the old plague marine set. Absolutely beautiful and definitely the scheme I will pick up in the future. Thanks for showing this!
You are my new favourite painter. So simple and yet effective. I have approx 60 plague marines, 15 blightlord terminators, all the characters except morty, x2 plagueburst crawlers, x2 rhinos, 80 pox walkers, 15 chaos spawn, 10 nurgle daemons, gellerpox kill team, X3 Fetid flyers and x3 myphetic blights and the nurgle half of dark imperium to paint lol. That is my Grey Pile of SHAME.
Hi Andy, great video!.. just wondering, in your time at GW, if there was ever a colour scheme discussed for the 3rd Plague Company, Mortarion’s Anvil?.. quite a popular Plague Company, but I can’t find anything on a specific scheme for them, unlike the others such as Palid Hand, Weeping Legion etc..
Absolutely love when I find that I got all the citadel paints needed for the work. Also that make me wonder if maybe, I got too much paints. Anyways, you're an awesome painter and an incredible good teacher your videos elevate the result of my work. I'd love to have it in the early 2000's when the only source of inspiration were the photos of White Dwarf or the same product!
Nice work. I highly suggest subbing VMA Burnt Iron and Copper for Leadbelcher and Balthazar Gold, respectively. They're SO much easier to use. The copper would need a little more shading to get it dark enough but applying thinned Wyldwood or another layer of Agrax Earthshade is a ton quicker than applying Balthazar Gold.
So cool and so happy to see this series continue :) I think pox walkers would be cool but also going with the terminator theme scarab occult terminator may be good too. So excited to see what you pick Great job as always Andy :)
I followed your flesh tearers paint tutorial and my army is coming out looking really good. The only thing is that once you use the new nuln oil it creates a sheen on the model that makes it look kind of sticky. The layering gets rid of that, but if you want the dirty look you’re left with that sheen
I don’t know of mine did that. Did you make sure to shake the pot a lot? You can also spray it with a mat varnish to get rid of unwanted sheen on models.
Can I ask why you contrast paint then go over with normal paints? Surely you lose all the highlighting you go from the underpaint? I also paint mine with the pink flesh, Screamer Pink then Vallejo Magenta. He looks great. I'm currently painting a Warcry Centaur Champion as a Tzeench Demon 😈 Xmas present and I don't collect Warcry so ...
My use of contrast is to apply very quick basecoats. And that what there great at. I then layer on top to build the colour. Going straight to that colour would not look nice.
Two things. One, would the Army Painter Grey Primer work as a Grey Seer substitute? And second, will you be doing a Daemon Prince for the other chaos gods besides Nurgle? I imagine a Khorne one would take precedence, given that they are a decent choice for WE right now.
Yeah it should do! The Grey Seer is a light spray from above to add some highlights and also to give something for the contrast to hold on to better so you don’t see any of it once it’s painted anyway! Yes I will be doing different versions of the Daemon Prince, just trying to fit them in weeks without big releases to cover!

Will you tackle Mortarion at some stage? Also basing tutorials. I'm terrible at basing. I'm currently working through my death guard vanguard box so this is perfect for me
@@MediocreHobbies I'm kind of hoping for a base like you had in the video. A sort of glowy green death guard base. Maybe with a bit of swamp on the minis feet like they came out the bog
Really loving your videos, do you think priming the minis in just grey seer would work? I'm very new to painting and am kinda afraid of messing up priming a zenithal way.
It'll be fine. Zenithal just helps by kind of adding some dark areas and shadows sort of. Your overall result might be a tad brighter but it won't be that noticeable. I've been painting for over 20 years and I rarely use zenithal priming. Just keep practicing and in the end if you're happy with the results that's all that matters.
Just to add to the comment below, I find the zenithal/light dusting of the grey seer gives a great rough(too fine for the eye to see) surface for contrast paint to cling better to! It can be done without it, just adding that’s also why I use the zenithal coat because I use contrast paint for base coats!
nice, our nugle boy looks so happy! paint the Ratlings next, those sci-fi hobbits need more love! and a new kit... or maybe a Catachan, they have quite a different look compared to cadians and fairly relevant with the new SpaceNam set from Wargames Atlantic which basically is new and improved Catachan kit. But for the chaos factions the Plague Drones of Nurgle would be pretty fun to see or a Tzaangor. Well, Tzaangor wouldn't be fun, it would be pretty sad since their lore is very sad and from the actually grimdark era and a prime example how the imperium are the masters of creating their own enemies.
Plague Drones and Tzaangor are done already! Definitely will get a Catachan done at some point, love those guys! Hmm ratlings would be pretty fun to do! 🤔
I like the scarlet fever look to the skin, if you were going to do it more oozy and gross it could be cool to have the three skulls in the shoulder be flesh weeping drooling etc oozy and gross.
laying over with the death guard green did nothing but reset the model :/ before it, it had depth and variation in colour that looked great for an old set of armour. but when you went over it with the death guard green you might as well have not even used the zenithal and the contrast paint and just painted it green from the start. for me it just seems regressive to go over the model completely after it was already painted
Sorry but you know what must be done next. It’s only right after you did such an amazing job on Angron, that Mortarion is given the same love
Yeah…damn it. Ok! Will figure out when I can get him done! Glad you liked Angron, thanks man!
Your guides have been a real help in developing my style with death guard minis. Keep em coming!
I intend to, thanks man! Let me know if you have requests!
@@MediocreHobbies the bone white colour scheme would be really cool to see how you do it. I'm planning on doing my deathshroud bodyguard like that
Nice work. I went the Deathguard Green undercoat spray route and plaguebearer flesh contrast over that. Another great video, thanks.
Oh very nice! If I had any of that spray I might have used it 😄 thanks so much!
Love it - thanks so much, Andy.
You’re very welcome, glad you liked it!
How about a poxwalker next?? Or a beast of Nurgle? Great work. Miniatures are, after all, gaming pieces and this is how to paint them...😄
oooh yes beast of nurgle, thats my favourite model
Added to the list, thanks for suggestions!
Very nice!

That’s great to hear, nice to bring back those memories! If you ever post them online in the future I’d love to see them!
Looks amazing, Andy. Well done...!
Thanks so much!

That’s so kind Pal. Thank you.
Great video, and I like how the volupus pink makes it look like organs are oozing out the back, and the front areas look like lividity. Nicely nasty.
Haha nicely nasty is a great compliment for this guy! Thanks so much!

I try to stock to gw paints for gw models. As that’s what the majority or people will have.
Great stuff Andy
Always appreciate the support 🙌

Yeah I think pox walkers will have to happen pretty soon! Will do my best to keep the playlist growing more frequently!
Ah! A delightful tutorial I bet I can use for some Plague Marines as well.
I do have a Death Guard space marine video too! Thanks so much!

Did you think the death guard green down with medium or water? Or just solid paint? Lovely colour
More not at all.
Deathshroud or Myphitic Blight Hauler or Plagueburst Crawler please!
All great suggestions man! Thanks for that!
As a big Death Guard fan I’m very happy to see another video like this from you.

How did you do the base? is there a video where you made a tutorial for it?
There is indeed in my basing playlist.
What’s the brush your using?
Poxwalkers!
On the list now!
Did you thin your paint?
I don’t thin them but I do use a wet palette!

You can skip the death guard green step if you prefer it before, this is just my style! No need to do anything you don’t like in a tutorial!
so two primers?
Yep, solid coat of Chaos Black and a lighter spray of grey seer from above!
