    Returned to Hobby last year, after 23 years. I found that paints in general are much better than then in late 90's. Had to admit that was sceptical about the Contrast Paints (Don't have any yet) but your videos have turned me into a believer. They seem very easy to use and the result is awesome. I'm going to follow this videos for my Death Guard Patrol.

      They are a million times easier to work with now! Yeah I don’t really use contrast paints for the original intention a lot of the time but it’s a super quick way to put down base coats and definitely worth trying! Try some on some old sprues if you worried about getting the hang of them first! Hope you get your death guard painted up soon, excellent choice!! Welcome back to the hobby man, please ask any and all questions you have!

    The 40k sculpts for death guard always blow me away. I like to do mine in the pale off while colour with grime, but also have some painted up green.

    I very much like this tutorial for the Death Guard. I only have like three models of them, so you REALLY helped me out with making this as I already had all the paint you listed and didn't want to buy much more.

    Death guard were my first painting project and I had a blast painting them. I also learned a ton working on them, got to try out lots of techniques. They were very forgiving minis, and being a lore nut I could rationalize the slight differences due to techniques by saying nurgle stuff is supposed to be all over the place. Mine definitely fell on the grimey, dirty side, first by accident then as I learned more and improved purposely. Great mini.

  • @pwwillia
    @pwwillia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice one, I’m painting DG at the moment. They’re such a forgiving scheme as it’s supposed to look a mess😀 have a look at Don Suratos DG scheme, I had a go at that one where you build up with a dry brush of increasing lighter browns on a black base. Then you put the main colours on the model before a brown oil wash and clean up. It gives the model a corroded look. Will have a go on Typhus with your scheme. Thanks again for the videos, always great seeing your process.

    I really like using the contrast for the base the big parts if my death guard. The deqth guard armor really absorbed the paint very well.. I went with Nazgurd Yellow (the brown yellow contrast) and those streaking grime lines doesn't work that well, when the shadies are brown for me.

    do a dirty, rusty, grimy, diseased, rotten Death Guard! to me, the Death Guard are just that, rotten and diseased. They are a sad and unfortunate bunch and I blame Mortarion for what happened to them. One of the 30K short stories are about a 2 Death Guards, one captain and a apothecary , and how they try and save some of their brothers but they all keep turning. It's a sad story and it captures the Death Guard and what they are pretty well.

    I really really don't get this method, you do A LOT of extra steps that are completely useless, like the contrast green covered completely by a completely different green. You better just do the normal method of death guard green, agrax and more death guard green, or even better, use the agrax in a more controlled manner.
    Same thing in so many other places, like the screamer pink on top of volupus pink, it ends up being not even a real highlight (imho volupus ends up being brighter). And again with the black, which covers up everything completely, instead of highlighting it. I don't get it, really

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Contrast paint is way quicker to apply than regular base paints, if you have a different method you prefer that's totally cool!
