I've been searching high and low for a death guard scheme that looks fantastic, is effective and not unnecessarily overly complicated and this may very well be the one!! Excellent work sir, I am blown away.

One of the best death guard painting guides I've seen! Could you cover how to do those tentacles on a lot of the models at some point please? How to fade from fleshy to that we're pinky colour at the end.

As many other people have said, this is probably the best tutorial to paint Death Guard out there. Every step is explained in delightful detail, the image of what you're painting is always crisp and clear, and there's just a "pleasant" vibe to the video overall. I've seen this video several times in the last couple of days, and this will for sure be my #1 preference when I start painting my DG shortly. The one thing I would like to know more about is the exact consistency of the paints you apply. For instance, do you use wet or dry palette? What's the ratio between paint and medium when you mix them? And when lahmian is not mentioned, does it mean the paint is straight out of the pot, or thinned with a bit of water via wet palette? Outstanding job, congrats and please keep them coming :)
I can't count the number of times I've had a look at an army I've 'finished' and decided I want to go back in and change stuff. In the middle of revamping my Maggotkin of Nurgle at the moment, definitely easier in my head.

I've 'just' returned to hobby, and already have one year hole in that 'returning' ;p. But now I am painting, and while Plague Marines which I currently paint have to stay like they already are, the next one I will try to paint just like you are showing to us. For me right now, when I am painting, the hardest thing is to develop right order of doing things; and not knowing how things will end up, when you apply one color onto another is also demotivating. But I still have steady hand and enough good eyes. I will fight:). Also, thing in this tutorial like this one 'i know there is leather on some Plague Boys, so I will just show you on this handle' is unique bro. I mean, that's beautiful. One mini to paint them all. I am totally fan of this video, and I am leaving, cause I have some guts and rust to paint. Long Live and Prosper.

yours feels more green than my Death guard green, did you do something not shown on the video, after the rust glaze step? My death guard green look much more pale.
This is an Amazing tutorial so thank you for the detail. Can I ask how you fit the head into the model afterwards? Seems too big to go nicely and don’t want to ruin the time taken.
Glad you liked the video. I attached the parts by drilling small holes into the joints I knew wouldn't be seen when fully assembled, then using paperclips to attach them to the corks. If the fit was too loose, I'd use a small dab of super glue. Hope that helps :)
Your death guard look amazing!!! I'm new to painting minis and chose death guard as my army. I've done some plague marines, but now I've seen this video I will try this on my death shroud. I only hope I can make them look half as good as you have. Could you do a video on more death guard units?

At 3:27, what color did you apply to the metal parts before you started chipping with the sponge? Also, did you do it directly over the DG Green spray coat?
In the stage before the chipping I went over all the non armour areas, metal included, in Abaddon Black. This step was more for visual clarity than any necessity for the painting, though I do find it easier to get an even metallic base coat over Black so it does save some time down the line. I actually didn't do it over a DG green basecoat (as I couldn't get my hands on any in time for the video), but I layered DG green over a similar green primer. Even if the model had been base coated in DG green first, I'd recommend doing at least one layer of DG green with a brush as I find the finish from spray priming and using a brush are slightly different. Hope that helps :)
With the panel glazing, the mix is about 3 parts lahmian to 1 part doombull brown, and making sure there's very little paint on the brush. Hope that helps, and thanks for your support :)
I use quite a wide range of brushes, but my go to brushes at the moment are the Raphael Brush series 8404, size 1 and 2 in particular. Though for other techniques like drybrushing and washing I tend to use GW brushes.
Is the agrash earthshade wash a thin one? at the start. On model on screen doesn't really look like it fills the recesses. Mine looked too grimy and the recesses were filled?
Although the agrax wash wasn't dilluted, I'd make sure that a thin layer is applied, as you can always go back and add more if it doesn't darken it enough. It's good to get some of the wash into the recesses, but if the wash looks like it's 'pooling' in any of the detail, such as the recesses, be sure to go back in to remove some of it. Hope that helps :)
I've a question: during the step where you apply a wash of agrax earthshade on the entire armor (minutes 1:18-1:30), did you use a diluted agrax? I applied a non diluted wash of agrax on the armor and it appear much more dark and dirty than the armor in your video
Whilst I didn't dilute the agrax myself, a number of other people have also noted that when they used agrax it came out darker than mine did, so I think my pot of agrax might be 'less potent' than that of others. So to that effect, it might be worth thinning out the wash with just a touch of agrax lahmian medium if the wash is coming out too dark for your taste :)
The steps for the chainmail and weapon can be found starting at 10:00. They're a bit of a collection of steps with some other bits thrown in there (such as the bronze), but the colours and techniques you're looking for should be there. Hope that helps :)

Are you sure you put on 2 coats of death guard green? Not a coat of death guard then elysium green. I ask only because the results im getting are less yellowish green than your example. Perhaps its just the lighting
I think it might be the lighting, as I only basecoated with Deathguard green. That being said, if you prefer the end result of using elysian green, then by all means go for it; I'm sure it would turn out great whichever you use :D
I love everything but the axe blade...black doesn't match and looks like "unfinished" to me. IMHO, It would have been much better to paint it in mithril silver then to apply several washes and glazes of diluted black paint to control and shut down the tones and finally highlight and scratch the edges with this same mithril silver at the end...Anyway, the rest of the paint is wonderful.

I quite like the idea of shading down from a mithril basecoat with black; I reckon that could build a nice gradient on what is quite a flat surface, I'll definitely give that a shot on a future model to test it out :)

I kinda messed up my model cause I was quite heavy handed with the Agrax wash but it still looks nice

What amount of Lahmian Medium do you use with the Doombull for the armor panel glaze?
