Just think about it: Isayama managed to create a silent character, with ZERO dialogue and ZERO monologue but still explore her backstory, struggles, suffering, mystery around her motivation, set such amazing parallels between her, the mc, historia, freckled Ymir, zeke and frieda only through her emotions and actions, symbolism and visuals, he connected it with aot's themes and its lore. He managed to write THIS... so she, ymir fritz, got to be destroyed by 3 gd lines ("only Ymir knows...", "ymir loved the king fritz" and "she was waiting for mikasa")
    Just... why? WTH? FOR WHAT?
Where do I begin? Well, her love for the king... Firstly, no way it's Stockholm syndrome as this shit works differently. So, no. Secondly, even if she loved the king, WHEN did she start to develop feelings for him? Before freeing the pigs? After their marriage? After getting pregnant? When? Thirdly, WHY does she have affection for fritz? He ruined her life in every way, he abused her physically and mentally, he did the same to their children but she... Uh, ok, let's see (as if we can). It's clearly shown in 122 she hated her life with him. But fine, if she loved him, why did she disobey him by freeing the pigs and not regenerating? Why didn't she smile or wasn't happy when he was around? Why did she want him dead instead of her and regreted not letting fritz die? If she regretted this whole time, doesn't it mean she already put herself and her daughters above her husband so the titan curse could end sooner?
Now, ymir and mikasa... Their connection has NO buildup. It's never hinted at something common between these two throughout the entire show. The Ackerman's headaches had no allusion to the goddess. So why her? What about this woman made fritz choose mika? The fact she was an Ackerman? Or the person who was able to kill the love of her life? Um, couldn't ymir find someone else, like, sooner, 282 years ago FE, among millions of people, within 2000 years? Or it's because mika killed the founder when it separated from the hallucigenia? How does mikasa know her headaches are caused by ymir messing with her head if eren didn't tell her about that? Who knows, who cares...
Why even show so many well-written parallels between ymir fritz, eren, historia and freckled ymir if they have no payoff? Why does Ymir find herself in mikasa but not historia whom she has much more in common with? Historia is a better version of her, so why not wait for reiss? For what reason does she pick a girl with no dignity, self-respect and ability to move on or grow up? How are her relationship with fritz and eremika bond even similar? Eren didn't treat mikasa the way fritz treated his wife. Eren saved and freed mikasa, that assh*le enslaved and turned his woman's life into a nightmare. The mc and the king are completely different just like mika and ymir. What'd she do if mikasa suddenly changed her mind and didn't kill eren? Wait for 2000 years for someone again? How can mikasa help her move on from the king if she herself didn't move on from eren?
Next, if Ymir was the one to make titans in paths, who made her titan? Was the hallucigenia a separate organism or was it connected to fritz after giving her titan powers? If it wasn't connected to her, then why did it disappear instead of trying to find a holder? Why was it trying to find one at first but vanished after Eren's death? So the founder's death affects it? Then the hallucigenia should have died when Ymir died. But they're not connected, are they? Or the opposite? Ugh... Why did the founder split into 9 titans? Why not 6 or 27 or 3 if she had 3 daughters? If maria, rosa and shina were able to get their mom's power at the same time, does that mean both erwin and armin could eat bertholdt and become shifters together? And if these 3 ate the founder, shouldn't every descendant of the royal family possess it? Whose child inherited the founder? Rosa's? Maria's? Shina's? Or all simultaneously but after that it split into 9 titans? How did fritz know about the way of passing titan powers to new holders? Was Ymir dead when he fed her to their daughters? If she was, then her power should have been given to a newborn eldian. If she wasn't, then she let the king chop her into pieces and saw her daughters eat her? Is that even possible to stay alive after getting dismembered so many times? If she can rewrite her people's dna, that means she can lengthen their lifetime or make them invulnerable or immortal? Can she provide them with armor appearing out of their bodies or weapons out of the air? Or just stop them from turning into titans? About paths... I refuse to talk about how they work. It'd take one more paragraph
Additionally, whose side is Ymir on throughout the story? On fritz's, who planned to build Eldian empire? Or on Zeke's and Karl's who wished to end this empire's existence and wanted her descendants to die? Or on Eren's who tried to save some of them? Is she with mikasa who stopped eren from doing it? Or is she with the alliance who did everything in their power to save the rest of humanity on the continent? Or is she on the royal family's side? WHOM does she obey? Or is it just going with the flow of events? If that's the case, then how can she wait for mikasa? But if it's still for witnessing mika murdering eren, then why does she listen to zeke when eren enters paths? By this logic, she should join the mc right away to see him get killed as soon as possible. Why does she join eren at first and start the rumbling with yeager but then help the alliance defeat him? Why'd she do that to someone who made her moved to tears for the first time after 2000 years of suffering, who told her she's just a person, not a slave or a god, that she gets to decide and choose? Why are we told in the final mikasa saved her if eren already did that? Did she need help twice? If the mc wasn't the one to free her, how could she disobey zeke? Is eren her liberator or pawn? If a liberator, why didn't she tell him what tf she wanted or write shit on the sand, anything? If a pawn, why make a show "at your service, mr zeke" and weep after Eren's speech? Did eren and she even need zeke's royal blood after the rumbling started? Yes and no?
Also, what exactly made titans disappear? Eren's death, his refusal to live, the fact the hallucigenia separated from the mc, fritz seeing the kiss? What? Ymir's desire to stop? So you mean to tell me she wanted them to exist? She could refuse to make them anytime? Are you kidding me?
Why did she smile at the end of ch 138? Because eren got killed or because the goddess saw the kiss? What were those scenes with her watching everyone during the rumbling all about?
To think that for more than 100000+- years (if we take into account time in paths moves slower) she created MILLIONS of titans when shifters transformed and when eldians turned into them (dozens times a day), healed her descendants (once again, dozens times a day), changed or erased their memories, rewrote their dna, made shit from crystals, walked millions of kilometers to build titans, carried many-many pails with water and sand, climbed high to make enormous arms, heads, necks etc... for TWO THOUSAND YEARS she made her children and their children suffer, made the world endure, helped the mc start GENOCIDE, watched millions of people die and kill each other, witnessed her people eat one another and so on just because she COULDN'T MOVE ON FROM HER ABUSER! Do you realize how absurd and unrealistic it sounds?
What else should I say... Saintitchief is right: either she's the dumbest or the most despicable person ever. Either her plotline is retconned at the last moment or the author just didn't think it out properly (which is so unlikely if you remember the 1st episode's name). Or after all, maybe, just maybe, she was the true aot villain all along, not a victim as we thought. We were just ignorant to see it or didn't want to notice. Tmm, Ymir's character gained the worst conclusion in snk, even worse than eren as we didn't even get to know about her motivation. It remained a mystery because "only she knows...". Her arc was so unresolved and so underdeveloped. What was isayama even thinking?

If the most you have for a romance in 139 chapters and 90+ episodes is two people blushing, making said romance not only the focal point of the finale but the entire series is downright laughable. Mikasa never moved on from Eren because her character is defined by nothing else. She has no aspirations, dreams, or personal interests. Every facet of her character revolves around Eren. This only makes it all the more unbelievable when she is the focal point of Attack on Titan. How is it that in 2000 years, Ymir never found the answer she sought, but instead, it was Mikasa she was waiting for? This is exaggerated by the fact that time moves exponentially slower in Paths. Ymir has near omnipotence, able to see the memories of all Eldians. The suspension of disbelief is beyond shattered. Not to mention the fact that Ymir can see future memories. I agree with Saint that Ymir's character would've been better served as an antagonist, the true ruler of the Eldian Empire. This truly allies her with Eren's goal. Even more interestly, gives her purpose, creating the titans in paths, furthering the lives of her children, and arming them. She would be fighting for the freedom of her children as Eren is fighting for the freedom of Paradis. This, along with determinism, are my biggest critiques of the finale, and ultimately, they ruin the series as a whole.

Mikasa’s character honestly makes me feel so upset. The groundwork for her character was literary perfection. She was more than capable of growing into her own identity free from Eren, and maybe everything else. She in a way was like Annie. The only difference was her growth would be more impactful because oh how much of an influence Eren was on her life…but she never grows past Eren. Killing Eren is not moving on from him, or helps define her as a unique character apart from Eren. In fact, she is forever tied to Eren at that point. The way she embraces Eren’s head, crosses an ocean to bury him, and continues to latch onto the scarf Eren gave her just makes her a temple built to honor Eren. Eren is the beginning and ending of all her faux glory, which there is none. She does nothing in the story that is unique or builds a force or expression not only unique to herself, but has an influence of affect on the story. Eren even tells her he hates her because she’s just a lap dog, and he’s not wrong. She lives to serve Eren emotionally and physically; from protecting him from bullying/violence to comforting him when she sees he is alone and in distress. That’s it. That’s all she ever is and becomes in the end. With Eren;s death, she still honors his memory for zero justification. I truly despise how people suggest “they were close, of course she would remember him”. Eren is a genocidal murderer. He slaughtered millions of babies. He is truly evil. Why would anyone with their own agency and sense of values bother remembering someone like that? The final goodbye should’ve been Mikasa lopping Eren’s head off. I would’ve accepted at least the excuse that her killing Eren was her moving on. Alas, it never happens. A truly promising character with tens years of build amounting to nothing but a beacon for another character that was written poorly.

I still have no idea why tf mikasa didn't end up hating eren in the end. It would've been the peak of her character development. Imagine her loving him so deeply in the first season and starting to despise him for all the things he did in season 4:
      - abandoned his friends for 10 months without saying a word,
      - didn't tell them anything about his plans or the future he saw, in other words, didn't trust her or someone else,
      - manipulated them, so they attacked liberio,
      - killed a lot of innocent people and took war hammer away. This action destroyed the options for negotiations between paradis and the world,

How, HOW can she have feelings for him after all of this crap? Is she an insensible cardboard box? AOT's female lead, with so much screentime, the strongest paradis soldier (after Levi having got hurt), is like THAT? With no freaking development? Or exploration? My brother and I have been having debates in wether or not it was good, and you helped me realize just HOW MANY flaws there are... Mikasa is a nothing bullshit character that should've never been written in the first place, and Eren should have had the freedom to choose the rumbling to protect his people. Hell, that's not even taking into account that Eren didn't even finish the rumbling, told us he wanted Mikasa to kill him, and said she, yes HER DUMBASS was the goddamn main character. 29:20 I think one of the biggest indicators that Isayama never planned any of this is the biggest plot device in the series - Armin's book. When the outside world was revealed and the true history of the world told to us, it should have then become apparent that the book would undoubtedly have references to the Eldian Empire and the power of the Titans they commanded inside it, as even the most objective explorer would be unable to avoid talking about the people of the places he's visiting and the society which is allowing him to make natural discoveries. Like if the guy went to the arctic or the Sahara, he must have talked about how he got there and by whose graces he was undertaking his exploration. Even if it was just an encyclopedia, a compiling of information, it would talk about what the world was like beyond just nature alone.
But none of that was in the book, because Isayama hadn't thought of it yet.

I don't remember Mikasa having any connections and relations or build up why Ymir choose her over other characters which are namely Historia, Zeke, Armin, Reiner and maybe Levi through the story
It was only stated that Ymir choose her because she was sending brain waves that causes Mikasa headaches that was only stated in the finale that was never shown nor develop in the beginning of the story.
Genocide is bad I agree , I won't mind Mikasa winning but the ending glorify and showcase her obsession and unhealthy relationship with Eren as true love that sets Ymir free after 2000 yrs of SIMPING for King Frits of the horrible things that he did with Ymir, destroyed and killed her hometown and people, treated her like a slave, use her as target practice, Raped her, protected him and see's her as a slave till death and make her daughters eat her chop and disfigured corpse and she never smiled whenever Fritz is around, if anything he made her life misrable.
Why does founder Ymir give Eren the power? If she is against genocide in the first place? He was the one who inspired her and gave her the will to make her own decisions and yet it was MIKASA all along, so she just want to see a kiss from a Yandere Overpowered Mary Sue Asian to kiss her decapitated step brother head? Mikasa is still obssed in death with Eren tho so why choose her over other characters? Did Ymir even cared about Fritz more than her daughters? That's is where Eren head comes from to showcase the proof, Mikasa will be the one holding it and will join Armin convincing them.
      Edit: 😓Wait I forget

20:30 Yes, her connection with Fritz is through obeying him, but also through having the twisted affection towards him. Eren managed to free her, meaning she no longer would subjugate herself to the will of the royal blood. Armin showed her that human lives really did have some value. And Mikasa really did reevaluate her relationship with Eren, which also multiple characters did during the show, but Mikasa's case was special because by killing Eren, she saw that cutting ties with the ones they both had affection for was possible. Yes, Mikasa still loved Eren, but just like Mikasa tells Ymir in the end, her affection was nothing but a long nightmare, while Mikasa's was pure and genuine. Thats why Ymir was set free, while Mikasa was left sobbing under the tree, but who the hell wouldn't. It would take much time for her to cope with her loss. And one question, I might have missed it in the story. Where does it say that Ymir can see the future without any limits, just curious.

She spent 2,000 years coming to the conclusion that she didn’t have to be a dead human’s slave no longer? I’m sorry, that’s literally against human nature. Human beings even who have gone through trauma and slavery still have agency of themselves. That’s why some slaves in the southern US attempted to run away from their masters. It’s humiliating to slaves that they are nothing but obsessed with their masters without fail. History has taught us not only do slave’s resist through culture, but they sometimes even rebelled literally due to their sense of agency and even desire for freedom. It’s ironically sad Isayama wants us to believe Eren had such a desire for freedom he would kill his own mother but Ymir would still have a sense of loyalty to a mere mortal for 2,000 years….2,000 while the whole time literally having every ability in the world to not only move on from her trauma, but change the face of the earth and bend human reality according to her will.

Eren crying over anyone because he can't be with them is against his character. If he cried ab historia it would still be bad

He always made sure that Historia was absolutely safe, which he did for NO one EVER before, he told Historia that he would run away and abandon everything together with her if she wanted to and it seemed to be a pretty obvious planned Plot Twist that he is the father. It was in fact so obvious that it was more of a Plot Twist to know that the farmer actually was the father. The way the twp understood each other and talked to each other, such a deep and meaningful relationship, and what definitely makes it romantic is that Eren told her they could run away together.

@@jimmyinfamous9664 Pretty much was tbh, you can already see the roots being set in place. If Isayama suddenly decided that humanity outside the walls actually died and changed the whole later plot line because of that, then the Basement reveal would not add up. That's exactly what happens in the ending because Erehisu was retconned. Even if everything else was as planned and Eren returned home, it would seem pretty odd that he'd have no one waiting for him. I can't imagine a good ending without Erehisu.

Why do all the ending haters seem to want to ruin the show for people who enjoyed the ending?
Like, I get it, you didn’t like it. Why spread the hate around? I’m sorry you didn’t like the ending, but it’s just an opinion.
Every opinion on this story is subjective, no side is objectively correct.
The only reason I’m still even leaving a few comments on this guy’s videos is because I’m amazed how bitter his followers are.

Because if the ending isn't criticized, other mangakas and script writers will repeat Isayama's mistakes
And the ending is objectively bad, narratively, thematically and logically
It would take much less time to explain why it's good than to prove why it's not
