He understands that their interests are diametrically opposed which makes them enemies wether they want to be or not, which is what he tells Reiner. So he does understand them, but he also understands that your enemy is still your enemy wether you hate them or not, because sometimes only one person can win something that multiple people might want. Post-timeskip Armin completely reverses his perspective for no reason, fails to come up with a plan that solves anything whatsoever, and is proven wrong continuously. He wants to try diplomacy with other nations, but they instantly get scammed by the Azumabito clan who take their resources and directly harm their diplomatic efforts with other nations out of greed, choosing to exploit their situation rather than helping them. So diplomacy doesn't work. And in the end, after they stop Eren of course, after they're all dead, the fighting continues and some kind of enormous future war levels the world with the ground, proving Armin to be wrong. He couldn't secure peace at all, the only person who really secured peace was Eren through the Rumbling. It's only because of Eren's Rumbling that there was any peace at all, Armin just took the credit for it.

In ch131 Eren thinks about his mom getting eaten as a titan and it being his main motivation for the rumbling which makes no sense since Eren should know that he killed his mom because this is when he sent armin to paths and told him everything. This could only mean that isayama changed the ending a year before it finished. Edit The best proof of this is that historia’s baby was born the same day as ch139 where Eren was meant to leave his titan crystal in paradise and touch his baby with royal blood to active the rumbling again

After finally watching the finale, there’s still so many plot holes and contrivances in this story that unfortunately started in episode 79 with being able to see the future. There really should’ve been an AOE
The get rid of all titans Schick is silly as you said, their perspective clearly changed in S3 when they learn about Marley, who were the ones sending the titans to the walls in the first place. Grisha's sister was eaten by dogs. Are dogs the issue here? No, the Marleyans were the ones who had the dogs do it. It's the same logic. Further corroborated by a whole scene in the s3 finale when they encounter a lone titan and Eren is visibly sympathetic with it, calls it a patriot and moves on, much to Floch's surprise.
Paradis getting destroyed made things pointless, because if Paradis was going to get destroyed anyway, then just don't do the rumbling. Killing 80% for JUST your friends is pretty autistic to say the least. I'd understand if he did it to keep Paradis from being wiped out, but JUST for your friends throws the entire thing out the window, because it's no longer believable. I'll break it down for the slow people, because a lot of people don't understand how it works: 1. If Eren doesn't do the rumbling, Paradis gets destroyed, but the rest of the world gets to live. 2. If Eren does the rumbling, but only does 80%, Paradis gets destroyed. 3. If Eren does the rumbling and completes it, Paradis does NOT get destroyed. (A lot of copers think civil war will destroy Paradis, but US had a civil war and is still standing, lmao) Now let's continue: 1. If Eren doesn't do the rumbling, his friends are toast, but the rest of the world gets to live. 2. If Eren does the rumbling, but only does 80%, his friends live a full life. 3. If Eren does the rumbling and completes it, his friends live a full life. Now, which one of the 3 options makes the most sense for Eren to do? That's correct! It's number 3 😁 Because number 3 not only ensures Paradis future, but ALSO ensures his friends future. (80% will always result in Paradis destruction, and it doesn't even guarantee his friends safety, it was just a hunch that it would) (Also, number 1 is actually the second best choice, and practically aligns with Zeke's, as you might be killed, but at least the rest of the world gets to live) If his goal was ONLY to protect his friends, then it doesn't hurt to ALSO protect Paradis. You can even get rid of the titan curse afterwards, and then the Eldians would repopulate the entire world and there would be no more "Let's destroy Paradis because we don't trust Eldians" because they'd literally all be descendants. Most ending defenders will still not comprehend after reading this. But here's hoping that some of them are able to think critically and not just emotion based and see that this is one of the major reasons the ending is so flawed. Also, for the folks who keep crying about how it's "showing the cycle of violence" you can show the cycle of violence by showing a civil war in Paradis after between Yeagerists and Alliance. Not to mention that although cycle of violence is a real thing, this is still a written story at the end of the day. Having a conclusion that is just "this is how the world is" is very lackluster and can be represented without butchering the ending.
Option number 3 doesn't make any sense. Alliance happen because Eren wants to commit genocide and they oppose that. Armin and the others never agreed to that only the Jaegerist. The titan curse will never gone if ymir doesn't free because shes the one who made all those titan in the path. She need to be free by showing her love can be sacrificed for something more important which is humanity. Thats what Mikasa showed to her and thats what Eren always trying to reach, the outcome that Mikasa brought. Did you really watch AOT?

Eren could have used paths to announce to all eldians on paradis that he has a worm in his neck, then enacted the small rumbling wiping out the global military, then have mikasa come kill him. Worm dead, ymir happy, titans gone, friends still heros to the world for stopping Eren. Probably more so for actually saving the majority of the world. Historia and all his friends safe, didnt need to even genocide everyone. Then the island can bluff the threat of a second rumbling, do the 50 year catch up plan or whatever then reveal to the world the titan powers are gone. This would have aligned with every motivation eren had.
MAPPA did an amazing job in ost and animation and this will hide the plot problems this ending has. Even me that I disliked the ending when I saw it in the manga I was impressed to see this amazing animation. It's normal they don't see anything wrong now or they just don't want to find what is wrong. Maybe in a couple of months they start investigate why manga readers were so pissed off and they can finally realize why it's a terrible ending and it's literally a happy ending (the happiest we could have for our protagonists, except Mikasa I guess...) They even made an Eremika ending song to keep their emotions at their peek to blind the obvious plot armour and conveniences of the last arc... If you ignore all sillyness, the ending is bittersweet and "poetic". But if you can ignore this, just imagine Marley made peace with Eldia and Eren married Mikasa or whatever xDD

His discussions are long and very well articulated and reasoned so there you might find the reasons why many fans enjoyed the ending. Now, he might hate it too you never know but watching him discuss every episode in such detail from episode 1 makes me believe that he will enjoy the ending the same way. In ch131 Eren thinks about his mom getting eaten as a titan and it being his main motivation for the rumbling which makes no sense since Eren should know that he killed his mom because this is when he sent armin to paths and told him everything. This could only mean that isayama changed the ending a year before it finished.

I think it's easy to turn your brain off, enjoy the flashy fights and animation, and clap at the end. Hell, Chibi read the Manga, and bumped his rating from like a 3 or a 4 to a 7 of 8 because of the chances in the anime. I agree removing Armin's line of thanking eren for becoming a mass murderer, and changing post credits to be much further in the future does improve the ending. The get rid of all titans Schick is silly as you said, their perspective clearly changed in S3 when they learn about Marley, who were the ones sending the titans to the walls in the first place. Grisha's sister was eaten by dogs. Are dogs the issue here? No, the Marleyans were the ones who had the dogs do it. It's the same logic. Further corroborated by a whole scene in the s3 finale when they encounter a lone titan and Eren is visibly sympathetic with it, calls it a patriot and moves on, much to Floch's surprise.

Paradis getting destroyed made things pointless, because if Paradis was going to get destroyed anyway, then just don't do the rumbling. Killing 80% for JUST your friends is pretty autistic to say the least. I'd understand if he did it to keep Paradis from being wiped out, but JUST for your friends throws the entire thing out the window, because it's no longer believable.
I'll break it down for the slow people, because a lot of people don't understand how it works:
1. If Eren doesn't do the rumbling, Paradis gets destroyed, but the rest of the world gets to live.
2. If Eren does the rumbling, but only does 80%, Paradis gets destroyed.
3. If Eren does the rumbling and completes it, Paradis does NOT get destroyed. (A lot of copers think civil war will destroy Paradis, but US had a civil war and is still standing, lmao)
Now let's continue:
1. If Eren doesn't do the rumbling, his friends are toast, but the rest of the world gets to live.
2. If Eren does the rumbling, but only does 80%, his friends live a full life.
3. If Eren does the rumbling and completes it, his friends live a full life.
Now, which one of the 3 options makes the most sense for Eren to do?
That's correct! It's number 3 😁
Because number 3 not only ensures Paradis future, but ALSO ensures his friends future. (80% will always result in Paradis destruction, and it doesn't even guarantee his friends safety, it was just a hunch that it would) (Also, number 1 is actually the second best choice, and practically aligns with Zeke's, as you might be killed, but at least the rest of the world gets to live)
If his goal was ONLY to protect his friends, then it doesn't hurt to ALSO protect Paradis. You can even get rid of the titan curse afterwards, and then the Eldians would repopulate the entire world and there would be no more "Let's destroy Paradis because we don't trust Eldians" because they'd literally all be descendants.
Most ending defenders will still not comprehend after reading this. But here's hoping that some of them are able to think critically and not just emotion based and see that this is one of the major reasons the ending is so flawed.
Also, for the folks who keep crying about how it's "showing the cycle of violence" you can show the cycle of violence by showing a civil war in Paradis after between Yeagerists and Alliance. Not to mention that although cycle of violence is a real thing, this is still a written story at the end of the day. Having a conclusion that is just "this is how the world is" is very lackluster and can be represented without butchering the ending.
Option number 3 doesn't make any sense. Alliance happen because Eren wants to commit genocide and they oppose that. Armin and the others never agreed to that only the Jaegerist. The titan curse will never gone if ymir doesn't free because shes the one who made all those titan in the path. She need to be free by showing her love can be sacrificed for something more important which is humanity. Thats what Mikasa showed to her and thats what Eren always trying to reach, the outcome that Mikasa brought. Did you really watch AOT?

Historia and all his friends safe, didnt need to even genocide everyone. Then the island can bluff the threat of a second rumbling, do the 50 year catch up plan or whatever then reveal to the world the titan powers are gone.
This would have aligned with every motivation eren had.

If you really want to watch and debate a good reactor I recommend filmbluff. He didnt post his reaction yet but I speculate that he will enjoy the ending. His discussions are long and very well articulated and reasoned so there you might find the reasons why many fans enjoyed the ending. Now, he might hate it too you never know but watching him discuss every episode in such detail from episode 1 makes me believe that he will enjoy the ending the same way. Guys like RT TV and Moist didnt go into too much detail so it isnt really worth it to react to them but Filmbuff, I promise you he will make you think. Have a good day!
