    Thank you for the video. We had a bday party and put on our first shrimp boil and I used your video as my guide. I made notes on your times and all turned out great. We did 2 big loads and also did some steamer clams. I impressed everyone. Myself included. Not to mention BBQ chicken breast and veggie burgers for those that don't like sea bugs. LOL

    Tried your recipe and it came out great. Had to settle for the cheap shrimp, Gulf shrimp was $16 /lb. Came out good.

    How did you reheat after icing? or did the ice not cool it off that much?

    • @NorthernSeclusion
      @NorthernSeclusion  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bravoleader27 Even after icing it still was almost too hot to touch. It did cool it down but not alot. Thank you.

    Can i ask a few questions, 1. is this a traditional dish in the South? 2. can you use the water like a soup or does it taste bad or its just not the done thing? 3. did you make that sausage and is it spicy?.
    Thanks, Moose Down Under.

    • @NorthernSeclusion

      +mounty27 Shrimp boils are common down here yes because its so readily available and cheap compared to what we pay for it up in Minnesota. I asked Melissa if they ever use the boil liquid for anything else like soup etc. She said that you could but no one ever does. She also said that it makes an excellent weed/grass killer. I did not make the sausage, I bought it at walmart and we do not like things real spicy so I got the regular smoked sausage. You could add spicy sausage, you could add cayenne pepper to the boil also. The recipe called for 2 tablespoons of cayenne but we hate the heat so I omitted that. I hope those answers helped. Thank you. Joe

    Wow Yum! What was in the boil seasoning. Probably don't have it in Oz, but could make it up. Sounds great for a prawn boil. traditionally we don't add any thing to the water we add after the prawns are cooked. But as I said. Yum!

    But doesnt the Ice make the food cold? Do you have to reheat it? Or the heat stays in the food and just cools the water?

    • @kaniving
      @kaniving 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ice doesn't make the food cold at all. It just bring the temperature down from about 212 to a soaking temp which is around 150-160..still pretty hot

    One of my favorite outdoor meals to fix along with mud bugs. I do not ice them though just drain and pour onto news paper.

      +Ron Larimer This was the first time I ever used ice. I am not sure if it helped or not because I had never used that type of seasoning before but the end result was very good. Thank you.

    • @NorthernSeclusion

      +crumb9cheese Of course not, this is the south. You boil it, you peel it and you eat it. I guess you could do it yourself as you were peeling it but no we do not and the other boiled shrimp I have had with others down here they did not either. Thank you. Joe

    Best tip I have gotten.. when you cook a LARGE boil for a large group of people, go buy yourself the smallest "hard-plastic" swimming pool at Fred's, DG, or Wal-mart. Put it on top of a picnic table and pour all of your boil into it once its done. Spread it around.. Everyone can gather around and fill their plates.
    Once your done, rinse it off with a hose pipe and save it for next time. Ahh-eee

      +Rob Donaldson Thats actually a great idea, no chance of things falling off the newspaper onto the ground and it would contain everything. Thanks for the tip Rob. Joe
