I recently deleted Rise from my consoles for the last time, something just feels maddeningly 'off' about it and I just don't enjoy it at all. It's not a bad game by any means, but for me there's countless little annoying or frustrating things that contribute to my not having fun. I wondered if it was something up with me, but it turns out I can still hop on to World or GenU and have a good time. I persevered, and even bought it twice (when it came out on Switch, and later on my Series X) and even finished Sunbreak but I dropped it when Seething Bazelgeuse was introduced I think. It all just felt wrong, from the spiribirds, to the controls, environments, minigames like fishing, gathering, the game's versions of the monsters, the quests (and the lack of meaningful rewards moved to the cash shop)... I'm now going to commit sacrilege and say that I ended up enjoying Wild Hearts more (!)
That's pretty much exactly how I feel. It's many tiny things that come together to create the feeling of it "feeling off". I too own it on Switch as well as PC and I really wanted to like the game but it just doesn't do it for me. Wild Hearts is a great game imo yes it does have its drawbacks but overall it's still a superb experience.
Saying rise is the worst game in the series is a crazy take. MH1 is objectively the worst game in the series as its so outdated Your allowed to not like rises story, gameplay features or whatever you might not like about the game but when we are being objective World and Rise stand head and shoulders above every previous game. Theres a reason why world and rise are the 2 most successful games in the series Me personally i really like rise but im not blind to some of its problems and there are aspects of the game that i do hate (spirri birds, early game is way to easy while endgame bosses are way to difficult (see primordial malzeno 1 and 2 shotting you even with endgame armour while he does a 16× attack combo) for example) but id never say that its the worst game in the series I however won't tolerate slander against rises monster design. Rise imo has more peak monster designs than world. Malzeno is the best elder dragon we've ever had. Goss, garengolm, lunagaron, Magnamalo, Almudron, Bishantan, Rakna and Aknosome are all origional designs that are fantastic and I hope are brought back in future games. Gaismagorm is also my personal favorite final boss in the whole series
@@Forest9528 I can’t agree with your statement about MH 1 being worse based on the fact that it’s outdated. If we go with that logic Concord would be a better game than Dragon Quest III which is ludicrous. My intention wasn’t to slander Rise at all. I’m just trying to convey how I personally feel about the game and it’s perfectly fine if you enjoy it or even rate it as your favorite in the series. When making this video I was not oblivious to Rise’s popularity. It’s just that for me it’s the least fun I’ve had with a Monster Hunter game ever. As I said in the video it felt kind of like a chore to play the game. Rampages for example were fun at first but got stale real quick. Sunbreak did improve the game a lot but not enough for me to enjoy it more than any other MH title. I do have to concede though that Malzeno is a top tier design. And yes at its core Rise is still a good game but for me it doesn’t tickle my monkey brain the way other MH titles do.
I sadly can't contribute much to an actual discussion since not only was World my first Monster Hunter but Rise is the only other mainstream game I have played in the series. (Stories was kinda fun) I main Lance and I think that impacts the love I have for Rise a lot because I thoroughly enjoyed learning what I will die to if I parry vs block vs positioning better. The combat felt very engaging to me that way and I recently got 100% completion in Rise (in terms of achievements). Rise can be very easy but I think that some of the Monsters in Sunbreak and even late game high rank at the time was difficult enough for me to enjoy beating those Monsters (The Emergency Apexes) which is something I only felt when I beat Alatreon and Fatalis in World. You are probably right that Rise is the worst installment but it just feels wrong to me somehow. I think it works very well but that's probably because I don't mind the actual tracking aspect as much as others do. It's just kind of annoying in Rise when the monster moves to a different area but that's it. I had so much fun in Rise playing solo and with my friends that it's equal or slighty better than World at least for me even though I'm well aware that opinion is wrong since World is way better crafted in all aspects except combat in my opinion. Great video! It was my first time finding the channel and I enjoyed listening from a mature and different perspective and I agree with a lot that you said but in my heart it feels wrong but hey, I have only played 2 Monster Hunter titles.
I have to agree that the lance in Rise feels super good to play. I've always loved the lance and to be fair Rise did it best when it comes to moveset and feel. Yes the difficulty spikes towards the very late game but for me it just isn't fun mashing through 30-40h of gameplay until the fun part begins. And again there is nothing wrong with Rise being your favorite at all. This video is just about how I feel towards the game and I encourage everyone to just play what they themselves love.
As I wait on Wilds I have been playing Rise. It can be easy, but it makes for great solo play without the frustration of endless grinding. I needed some monster hunter fix that I can play by myself until the big one comes out. Especially since I don't want to restart World and Generations is in storage with my Switch.
@@lonewander6772 oh yea for solo play alone to scratch the itch without having to invest too much time into it Rise is one of the better options in the series. Keep enjoying the game more power to you but pls don’t let generations rot in storage forever 😭
Direct saeds are clearly not a change a majority of CB players care that much about; otherwise, it would've been addressed in the pre-launch community update just like the insect glaive did. Overcharging phials more than makes up for the lack of direct saeds and forces players to utilize more of the kit rather than relying on saeds for all the damage. And in the end, you CAN go into SAED still from a guard point soooo maybe just get good and guard point the monster?
@magistrate7009 yeah it takes 5 seconds to do aed into saed. That's enough to make the monster move and you miss your shot. In other words you either play discount stupid swaxe with savage axe or you pick a different weapon.
As a good friend I gotta respectfully disagree about calling Rise the worst in the series, as that goes to Monster Hunter 1 to me as I do not enjoy attacking with the right stick LOL, but I do understand where you're coming from with all of your arguments. My biggest gripe with Rise was its difficulty as well, but I still enjoyed it as I started seeing it as an arcade Monster Hunter that lets you do wild shit all the time. I will say that it made me respect World a lot more when I returned to it a few years later, as I initially did not enjoy it that much coming from 4U, but it clicked way harder after coming back from Rise.

Well in wilds you can't directly saed, so... Rise is better...

Fair tbh, the analog controls can be pretty tough to deal with.
