Great review! I love my 16" so much so far. I have absolutely 0 screen wobble when I move mine around. Not too bummed about missing out on a haptic track pad, but it could have a little better palm rejection. It's not bad though. Was super annoyed that I couldn't install Apple Music, but was able to do it through the command prompt no problem. The screen is fantastic, love the keyboard feel. The Lenovo is a bit nicer to type on though. Just a great machine for basic every day stuff. I've never wanted to keep a windows laptop until this one
You are the only Laptop review who not only reports battery life, but more importantly: 1. battery size 2. screen brightness 3. power mode 4. refesh rate 5. screen resolution 6. battery test activity 👏👏👏👏👏👏
it's so funny how different the prices are in different regions. In Europe this won't go on sale nearly as fast, and if it does, maybe it's 100-200€ cheaper at max. Meanwhile in the USA you get the 14 inch model for 1000 USD already, this is crazy
I did notice this discount yesterday and strongly considered purchasing because of the big price drop. My only concern is there are a lot of reviews and comments from previous Samsung galaxy book 3 and 4 owners (pro, pro 360, and ultra included) that have complained about things like random screen cracks. It Almost sounds like a design flaw. Maybe it's due to a lack of a solid frame around the laptop screen? At least that is what some of the owners speculated as a possible reason. And the owners who did get a cracked screen were told by Samsung that it would cost $500 or more to replace their screens because it wasn't covered under warranty. I'm also disappointed in both the resale values of Samsung book laptops and their repairability. The book 4 edge ssd drive is slow and nonreplaceable and I believe the battery cannot be replaced either. Both of ssd drive and battery can be replaced with the surface laptop 7. This makes me wonder if maybe this discount is because Samsung knows there is something wrong with their product.
I had planned to make a clone and keep it as a back up for a quick and easy recovery, but I'm not interested in soldering on electronics. I was ready to buy until I watched this video. Thanks Andrew; good stuff.
Qucik and to the point. Great analysis. THanks Andrew. A very nice 16 inch laptop. The only major downsides that would cause me not to buy are the lack of Windows Hello IR camera and SSD being soldered. I think the IR camera gives Windows a major feature MacOS does not have. I really miss it on my MBP 13 inch M1. I keep my laptops for five years or at least that is the plan/goal. That soldered SSD would cause me some concern about long term longevity/reliability. I have never had an SSD fail but I'd rather not roll the dice. Not a deal breaker for me but and unfortunate design choice for many.
Definitely a bummer that they don’t let you upgrade the SSD. And that there is no 32 GB version. Unfortunately, it‘s also really expensive in Europe. Did you notice coil whine when under load like some other reviewers?
I really like this laptop as well. As you know my bench mark in quality is the LG gram 16. The video quality and audio of the webcam is really good, however if the key travel of the keyboard is not good as the LG one my primary choice will remain the LG
Hi Andrew, haven't seen anyone mention anything about palm rejection on that touchpad, good or bad. It was horrible on the 16" GB4P and the only reason why I returned it. Just wondering if that is the case here as well since it appears to be the same oversized touchpad. Thanks

I'm afraid there's a lot of negatives here, Samsung not being the only company but I sort of feel that these snapdragon laptops in 2024 are not ready for primetime with driver issues, graphics being hit or miss, apps being hit or miss, missing AI features at launch and SSD not user upgradeable being a huge negative! Other than that, it's got a gorgeous bright AMOLED display, runs cool, has excellent battery life, premium build, good single and multi-core CPU performance, 120Hz variable refresh rate, clear webcam and internal mics. I suspect that the performance for all of these laptops will get better in time but I would definitely wait before investing in a snapdragon laptop for now. Excellent job as always Andrew!! 👍😁
It's worse than that. Forget upgradability for a second; what about recovery if/when the SSD crashes? for a samsung machine, having a numpad and off-center touchpad really goes against the clean design. The only people using numpads are heavy duty working people at dekstops or older people (no offense). Stationary people who use a numpad a lot should get a separate; better quality numpad to chop away at. Mobile people can do the same! (I used to do this because you can get REALLY nice keypads) This just ruins more than it fixes things IMO.. Not to forget! The touchpad on this is unnecessarily long, making it so your hands have to reach higher and this means moving your hands up from its original resting position to go back and forth. I do not suggest this qualcomm laptop when there are better ones for similar or less pricing. Also Andrew; I think you should either not do "high performance" profile-specific tests, or add a standard preset on battery and on charge. Probably more than 90% of the people won't touch the power profile and use defaults; and Samsung loses a lot here.
I sold my Mac air 15 M3 to get this. I have the edge 16 as well. Both are tremendous laptops but the thing you have to look out for is Samsung Laptops screen cracking issues upon touching them too much or upon closing.
