I have the Ultra 3 from last year and I still would choose it over anything Apple. I don't lose sleep over fan noise, speakers or the ecosystem. I run the entire Adobe suite on it and it works for me. Are there complaints, sure, but I can never lock myself into apple's trap. Great review!
I've got a MacBook air m2 and a Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 and they're both superb machines. I am contemplating getting the Ultra 4 for gaming, since the Book2 Pro can't seem to keep up with the AAA games - although I must say I was pretty impressed with Baldur's Gate 3 and Death Stranding running on the m2 Air. That said, lots of great games on the Book2 like Ori and the will of the wisps! But they are both superb machines - mostly use the Mac for video editing with Final Cut Pro and word/excel. Clearly though, this Ultra4 is a gaming beast and perhaps the best Samsung laptop ever
Ok, good comment except one point. What do you mean you don't lose sleep over ecosystem?? Samsung has a BETTER ecosystem than apple. And quite obviously for people who are vested in the apple's trap, I mean ecosystem, wouldn't think so. You don't need to oblige my guy. You don't need to compromise your stance by giving apple advocates any leeway in their argument. Just say no, apple does NOT have a better ecosystem.

I've been absolutely LOVING my book 4 ultra. This thing is a monster, it looks beautiful, feels great, has great build quality, and the display is unmatched. Appreciate this review for sure. All of the negative points were things I don't care about anyway. Touchpad? I always use a mouse anyway. Audio? I always use high quality headphones anyway. Fan noise? Speaking anecdotally as a long time Galaxy Booker user regarding the the pricing here, including the awesome pre-order deals (trade-in credit, etc) and how often the Book 3 Pro/Ultra line got discounted across the year it's the i9/4070 model that will hover around the $2500 price point majority of the time just like the Ultra 3 did and is currently discounted at until stock is cleared.
The 2nd available ssd slot in the Ultra edges it out over the mbp in my opinion. Also the better screen and gpu so Ultra for the win. The fact the 4050 even out performs the 18 core gpu on the Mac is alarming.

I think it's just a matter of what you do for a living or what you use the laptop for. I hate being off center but I have to use numbers a lot for work purposes and I can't stand not having the numpad. I suppose one could use a Bluetooth portable numpad when they need it.
Your presentations continue to be superb - refined, concise, and yet thoroughly informative. Thank you! If one's not interested in MacOS, and seeking fail-safe reliability, the choices are few. Would love to see you put your sharp eye to that question.
I’m currently on an XPS 17 9700 which I like very much. I’m looking for a premium oled laptop as a replacement. Don’t really know if I should go for the new XPS 16, the Samsung Ultra Book 4 or a Razer Blade 16 with oled and the 4070. Use cases are productivity \ office, occasional gaming and video editing. Any tips or recommendations welcome.
Does anyone find the touchpad unnecessarily large? Im looking at the XPS 16 or Precision 5960, would love a small comment from you considering some basic browsing/OTT and MS office related work. Awesome review, keep up the great work Andrew. Thank you and cheers.
as someone who always uses a wireless mouse with my laptops, I find myself barely ever using laptop touchpads at all except in occasional circumstances where there isnt enough space for a mouse (on an airplane, in car, etc). the touchpad is way too big and it wouldve been nice if they gave more of that room to the keyboard. half of the damn laptop is dedicated to the freakin touchpad lol.
Gotta agree about the missed opportunities. Anything over $2K is out of my range, but if I was going to go that high I wouldn't want to compromise on anything, and there are too many places where this machine seems to be very close to the best it could be before they decided to cut a corner and turned a near-perfect device into one that's merely pretty great. And I don't personally like apple products but I gotta say, nothing else even seems to compare for speaker quality these days. I don't know how they do it.

Love your reviews as always ! As a current Book 3 pro 360 owner, would you recommend me switching over to the Book 4 Ultra now that they've added touch support ? Or should I upgrade to the Book 4 Pro 360 ? Portability is something I value very much, is the 4.05lbs vs 3.66 lbs pretty noticeable ? I dont find myself using the Spen/2in1 functionality much. Curious to hear your thoughts !
I purchased the Samsung Book 4 Pro 360 with 16 GB of memory to replace my MacBook Air M2 as I need more screen space, but it could be a better option if they put 32GB or RAM; I have to give the Samsung back after one week. The laptop runs idle at 80% memory load, probably due to all the crap Samsung loads on it, and crashes in large Excel, like not showing some cells information or losing the cell selector, so you have to close and reopen the Excel. With Excel open, there is a 97% RAM load. Just for test I tried to open City Skyline 2, and I'm not talking about the play; it just crashes when you try to open the game.
Hi there Andrew, Quick question: is it too much of an improvement over the Book 3 Ultra? I'm considering the costs and just not 100% sold on the Book 4.
Great review, Andrew! A quick question though, I've been looking for an ideal laptop option to handle architectural designs & renders (Revit, Lumion, etc.). What laptop(s) would you recommend me (entry point options that packs enough power to handle these tasks). I'll really appreciate your feedback. Thanks
Andrew, really interesting review and thanks for spending your own cash on this laptop. Out of curiosity, how does this laptop compare to the Lenovo P1 Gen 6 and Z16 Gen 2? The Lenovos have a 4k Oled, although only 60 Hz.

Thanks for your fantastic review. You do a lot of hardwork and I appreciate that. I have a question btw. I am looking to buy the Book 4 Pro 16 inch, and I am little worried about the screen wobble. Since I am writer and type alot, do you think that this screen wobble is an issue, especially in terms of durability over years?
I prefer the Samsung for my needs. Why wouldn't you want a microSD card reader? You're the very first person who've said this afaik. You also never mentioned how there's true blacks on the oled panel. The cameras on the imac pro are always overly red, just look at your comparisions.
7:59 The Book4 Pro (non 360) does have a second m.2 slot aswell, at least the 16" does. I know because I took mine apart to check. It's in the middle though. Also, that vapour chamber in the middle is not needed on the non-ultra models because that's where the gpu is on the ultra, where on the pro versions there is no gpu.
I’m so happy I have no interest in the ultra. Enjoy the video immensely but I’m just a noob and the power or lack there of would be wasted on me. Still very interested in a regular pro model still can’t wait for that video and I am still looking to get out of the Apple ecosystem completely :-)! Thank you for being honest and it is very concerning that the CPU is getting worse it makes me think how is that even possible?
Nice Laptop with some not so good design flaws. Camera is good and speakers are good. Display is good. Keyboard layout is poor. Key travel appears shallow. Numpad poorly designed. Numpad layout is not condusive for fast numeric input. No large "Enter" or "Plus" key to the right of the numbers like a traditional number pad on a calculator. Also the numpad keys are smaller than the other letter keys. Samsung should either redesign it or completely remove as it in it's current design is somewhat functionally useless. All it does in its present design is take up space on this unit. MIcro SD card reader is okay. Most sd cards are sold with the adapter to full size cards and it is not a big deal to use it from a device that use full size sd card reader to this. Agree with you as far as memory goes. For the high price of this unit these manufacturers need to make these units with user upgradeable ram and wifi card slots. No excuse for these soldered in components. Performance may not be as fast as prior year models but it still will meet most users demands in it present state. One is obviously paying a premium price for the name Samsung on these units. Great review as always.
LOL why is everyone so against the number pad? 😂 I guess because im an engineering student and im always punching numbers, it is a very convenient for me than trying to use the tiny ones at the top of the keyboard
Thanks for your very informative and professional video 👍, it's a pity that the Intel Core Ultra 9 with RTX 4070 variant was not tested, especially here the comparison with the Dell XPS 16 (2024) would be interesting. Also interesting would be the comparison with the Razer Blade 16 (2024) is something planned here? What I also find strange is why the hell is Samsung using a Western Digital SN810 and not a Samsung SSD?
I think while this is a good laptop, in comparison with the Dell XPS 16 (2024) I would definitely go with the Dell in my opinion. This version can get expensive while Dell usually will have sales from time to time on their website. In conclusion, not a bad laptop and certainly a step up from last year but expensive. While the quad speakers is a step up in performance, it is still no match in comparison to the MacBook Pro’s which is still the leader in speaker sound quality. Great review Andrew!! 👍😁
Brilliant balanced review. I'm planning to buy this for video editing. Is it a good laptop for that - making video editing light work and performance speedy?

It just means that the unit will throttle down performance to prevent overheating. This means you will see less performance on heavy sustained workloads.
I prefer the mico SD slot. YOu can put in the card and it stays there and does not hang off the side. We need full size cards that sit flush in computer not hanging out.
I have to buy a new PC laptop. I really wanted to buy this one. But, the lack of Windows IR Hello is a bit of a deal-breaker for me (once you get used to it, you never want to go back). Everything else look great. I can't figure out why Samsung refuses to embrace Windows IR Hello.

The Intel ultra 9 out performed the MacBook M3
It should
LOL why is everyone so against the number pad?
¡excellent review! 👌👌👌👌👌👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dear Andrew, Simple query Please about the adapter of HP Spectre X360 14. Does it come with 100~230 volts or support it?
What A Beauty 🔥🔥🔥
1 or 2 TB SSD Hard drive?
Does the display bend back to at least 180 degrees?
Brilliant balanced review. I'm planning to buy this for video editing. Is it a good laptop for that - making video editing light work and performance speedy?
Didn’t you watch the video , the better option is the MacBook Pro
Of course I watched the video and I know you said the MacBook Pro is the better option. But that's not my question. I asked whether the Samsung Galazxy Book 4 Ultra is GOOD ENOUGH as a video editing machine (even if the MacBook Pro is better). Because not all of us want to convert to a Mac.@@mouyune
@@mouyune Of course I watched the video. I know the MacBook Pro is the better option - but that was not my question my dear friend. So, I will rephrase my question for you "is the samsung galaxy book 4 ultra GOOD ENOUGH as a video editing laptop despite the macbook pro being the better laptop?" Not all of us want to convert from windows to being mac boffs.
@@mouyune I would like to know the answer to his question too. He knows the MacBook Pro is the better option - but that was not his question my dear friend. For video editing, I use a Mac, it's a better machine for that. For work, running an entire business, and school, I'm using a PC.
12:05 I might have missed it, but were these benchmarks generated while both units were plugged in or on battery power?
Great review. Also please compare this with Lenovo Yoga pro 9i 2024.
One more here, please choosing between this two
The best one video
You are the MKBHD of laptop reviews

Does failing the time spy stress test mean that too much heavy graphic work will cause damage due to overheating?
If not, what does it mean?
It just means that the unit will throttle down performance to prevent overheating. This means you will see less performance on heavy sustained workloads.
With charger possible
With battery ? Maybe next gen intel ....
5:20, for this pricing, i wud still pick the macbook simply coz of the battery usability.
I prefer the mico SD slot. YOu can put in the card and it stays there and does not hang off the side. We need full size cards that sit flush in computer not hanging out.
Bang! It's gd ❤
I have to buy a new PC laptop. I really wanted to buy this one. But, the lack of Windows IR Hello is a bit of a deal-breaker for me (once you get used to it, you never want to go back). Everything else look great. I can't figure out why Samsung refuses to embrace Windows IR Hello.
im trying to decide between this, the specture 16, or the lenovo yoga pro 9i
Lenovo
@@harryp3804 I think I am leaning towards the lenovo
*Wish it had Wi-Fi 7 and a 4K display.*
FYI you can get over a $900.00 credit if you are a student off the unit.
