You shoot the spinning jets to get the power ups and such. And the game gets harder and the scenery changes. Give it another shot Mike. You'll grow to love it.
I'm just glad that you gave Astro Warrior an A+ because that was one of my favorite Master System games back in the day. I drew pictures of it in school it took up so much real estate in my head. It was such a basic shooter but it looked so cool and had such awesome music, it stuck with me... and I didn't even own it, I played it over my friend's house because I didn't own a Master System.
dont i know it, very fun game, though admittedly the passwords are known to fail sometimes, which sucks! i've played Golvellius so much i can complete it in an afternoon, so it's not an issue for me anymore.
The Master System accounts for a lot of my earliest gaming nostalgia. First game I played was rocky on Christmas morning and I will never forget it. Action Fighter, Enduro Racer, Hang On, Zillion, Captain Silver, the Wonderboy series, so many great games ☺️
I got my Master System in 1988. Great days. Alex Kidd In Miracle World was awesome lol. I also played the life out of Transbot, Xenon 2, Black Belt, Double Dragon and Moonwalker to name just a few.
Impressed by the graphics this system could pull off since it was a contemporary of the NES. Both systems' producers/programmers most likely got better as time went on but still I was unaware of what the Master System was capable of.
It came out a few years later, it was a contemporary, but it was the 3rd machine Sega put up to try and compete with NIntendo's machine. And then one year lateer the PC Engine came out.
Ugh NOOO. You finally play Bomber Raid and check out after 20 seconds. It's like a 30-40min game on a perfect run. Please adjust your visual settings next time and give it another go. I know I've said before to you and Erin, but up here in my little town in MA in the 80s, I was literally the only kid who had SMS. The handful of games I can attest are good that I owned and want to see beaten... I want to see done by someone entertaining. Quartet, Ghost House, Transbot, Ghostbusters, Bomber Raid, Choplifter... there's probably a few more. EDIT: 30 year flashback! I had Fantasy Zone 3! Holy Shite. I've seen the first 2 played before on here and always thought that looks familiar but I didn't have it. Then I saw this and BAM. And now seeing it, I think I recall it being much more in-depth than just a Pacman clone, with the money and upgrades and different enemies. Worth another look. Man, my like 30-40 game collection that disappeared many years ago... :0(
3:36:22 Ghost Hunt explanation: get the keys to open the coffin and kill Dracula or something (it's been ages since last time i've played). If you jump where there is a lamp the time stops for some seconds and you can kill Dracula easier that way. You can jump over the knife to pick them up too just like you did with the darts (that only gave points). With the time stopped just stab him to death.
The first Astrix you played is such a good game. But you have to destroy the blocks with your potions and you missed going down the wells for bonus sections
Alex Kidd is better than Mario, and I love Mario. Alex Kidd has everything Mario has. Jumps, blocks, catchy music, unforgettable enemies..and it´s also very very simple. But it has more imagination and more things that will stick with you forever... simple things like the hamburger in the end of first level. And in the "Alex Kidd in Shinobi World", you can climb the lamp posts right in the beginning and start rotating to kill the enemies in the easiest way possible! Try that :)
Many gems on the small NTSC SMS librairie. My favorites are probably Fantazy Zone 1 & 2, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Wonderboy 1-2-3, Golvellius, Y's, Choplifter, Action Fighter, Enduro Racer, Ghost House, and Great Baseball. Phantasy Star is great as well just not my fav.
Mike you are the only one who does what you do, the way you do it. I’ll probably be watching these playthroughs/reviews when I’m 60. Thank you for your service.
I think Fantasy Zone is actually pretty fun if you give it a chance, there is no "bell system" in Fantasy Zone, so I think you are confusing it with Twin Bee. I enjoy it's upbeat music, as well.
