Oh yes. When I do this I either: Go too slow and the ball already passes me Go too fast and I hit the net Miss the ball OR I DO EVERYTHING PERFECTLY AND THEN I FORGET THAT I DONT HAVE A 30 SECOND MONOLOUGE AND FORGET TO HIT THE BALL
@@kreherkim nah I don't know, I was never super tall, I got rlly tall once I started eating more and working out(though It's been a year since I don't work out). Where I live the average is 5'3 so I have no idea from where I got the height lol
I think there is one thing. When planting his last step (left foot) you shouldn't touch his heel in the ground cause that's supposed to make him jump less
I waited 7 years before meeting a coach that explained to me what's important in this video: 1- You must have the correct footwork: the right foot if you are right-handed, the left if you are left-handed. Without this, you will be blocked because you cannot open up to the ball, you will not be able to make point 2, and you will lack a lot of strength. It took me 1 year to change my footwork for short set and middle attack. I still struggle with attacks in position 4. 2- You must create rotation during your extension. The idea is to obtain power that comes from the thighs and goes through the body, just like when throwing a stone or a baseball bat: the force comes from below. Look at the position of his hips at the beginning of the extension and at his reception. He rotates 120°! Without this rotation, you will not be able to hit hard.
The slow motion and the instructions made me realize how much effort volleyball players do during their training..not just some seconds we see the spike in! Good job!
my approach is so bad, i always played for fun and never really thought about it, so now that i'm taking it more seriously i have this bad habit of just running and jumping somewhat randomly... thanks for the vid, helped a lot!
By the time I am doing all these types the ball is getting down. Can't approach at the right time... When should I stat after the set before set .. Please advice. Not you any players advice I wish to take..
Hey Kiran, It all depends on the height of the set. In general, you can use your 2nd step (left foot if you’re right handed) as a reference point. So when the pass hits the setters hands you should be on or near your 2nd step, then you have a split second to gauge where the set is and powerfully step close to the ball. If you look at when my foot is hitting the ground in a few of the hitting videos you will see what I’m talking about. You can also watch professional matches and take a look at when the outside hitters are hitting their second step. You will see a lot of similarities. Hope this helps!
1st step whatever it is, you must move first, therefore the step is small and light 2nd step to adjust the ball tempo 3rd step for power behind the jump 4th step: light step to stabilize your jump It's just my way to understand your videos
Depends on the tempo of the set. First step out of 4 is just to get some momentum going, do it before the ball is set. Second step just as the ball reaches its peak. Last 2 as the ball falls from the peak
if you’re an outside I would start as soon as you see the set and where it’s going. if you’re a middle go as the setter is getting the ball and oppo is somewhere in the middle
The spike at the end was to satisfying to watch. When ever I try to spike the ball I usually mess up the run, struggle to get height or time it correctly. I mean i have only played at a club 3 times which is probably why I'm not as good, but thanks to my competitiveness I always try practicing by myself so I can be the best on the court lolololol. The video was really helpful thank you :)

this is.. The last step is smart because you also already have the rotation and only have to focus on rotating back to normal on where you hit. I always had my feet parallel to each other so I had to rotate behind and back to normal and hit in one jump and I barely had any control. I gotta try this. Haikyuu also got me into volleyball 4 years ago😂😂
I would love to use this court for outside hitter practice. It keeps the outside hitter from starting their approach too far outside the court. The 'straight' in approach is the best approach for general hitting but the inside out approach is the best for hitters who actually know how to hit line shots (which seems to be a lost art in today's Vball).
I got here from watching haikyuu clips after finishing the 4th season. From seisei dou dou mv to real life volleyball attacks u name it, I watched it :)
This is so counter intuitive to me because I play basketball and the best way to jump for me is when my last step is with my right leg, but in volleyball, to get a good position for my arm, I need to finish with my left leg. =;=
This is completely correct except the for the block step(his last step) he plants his last step with his heal which waste power because it is directing some of the inertia forward instead of purely upwards. Instead, have you block foot or last step be on the balls of your feet. (you can look at every modern day national level volleyball player and they all do this) It may seem like an easy fix but it takes a lot of repetition to really drill it into your approach. Good luck
Ideally, you want to jump straight up, instead of forward. Since you want to get a full arm swing without hitting the net, I would stand a little more than one arm-length away from the net and see where your feet are; that's where you will want to jump from. Take 3-4 steps back from that position, and that's where you will start your approach.
@@braiansingh9730 - RedBaron8698's suggestion is correct but to really get the hang of it, you must practice a lot until you get it right. At some point, you will know where to take off and where to land. It becomes your second nature. Jump straight up is recommended especially if the set it very tight to the net. I would normally swing my arm sideways if the ball is right on top of the net (also good to get the ball off the blocker hands). Swinging it downwards would definitely get my arm on the net (foul).
