im trying to learn how to get more vertical on my spikes and better technique because im my teams jack of all trades player. I started playing volleyball last year and i fell in love with it. Watching your tutorials have helped me out a lot! i can now powerfully spike with no more back and shoulder pain. Keep up the amazing tutorials!
Super insightful; I have long arms and keeping track of them is a challenge. Learning about how they can be an asset in the back-swing is really helpful.
1. First step too big - Instead: first step walking 2. Galloping into step close/penultimate step - Instead: push into step close 3. Consistent speed - Instead: slow to fast rhythm 4. Diving shoulders - Instead: upright during push into step close 5. Chicken wing arms - Instead: straighten arms during push into step close
Hi Coach Donny--this video's question about beginning to play in your 20s made me curious about your advice for someone picking up the sport in their 30s. So, if you were someone starting to play recreationally in their 30s and wanted to set an initial goal of playing at a BB-level long-term, how would you plan and execute that journey? Not necessarily asking for a comprehensive, step-by-step plan, but a general overview from someone with your experience and insight would inevitably be helpful!
This is so helpful ! Thank you very much! I was trying to do the approach by watching slow version of Profi players and of course they are trained and their technique is just not right for me. But the first tip of not giving all power to the first step was my the biggest issue I didn’t know of. After I started approaching slowly and then fast, I have soared and floated in the air - incredible sensation !
He has older videos for footwork where he does mention that for left handed hitters it would be the opposite. If you really want to see what it would look like, just download the video and mirror it in an editting software. I suggest however to just go and try it out. For you, its left foot forward, and step right left right l. Legit mirrored what everyone else does. You could also ask your right handed friends to face you and do their approach towards you and you mirror them. Meaning, them facing you when they step with their right, for you it'll be your left.
Could you do a video on how to fix galloping? I have a lot of trouble on my penultimate step as I hop into it instead of running and I can’t seem to break the habit. Thank you so much for your videos they are extremely helpful.
hi coach, im good at serving already, it's fast, and has a lot of power. But i have a problem, i'm not consistent at serving. After 1 service ace or 2 the ball either goes out or doesnt go over the net. Do you have any tips on how to be consistent at serving?
Thanks, your videos helped me a lot. I'va a question, how is the proper technique For the transition between the jump and the Spike? I always feel like I'm not doing right
HI Coach Donny it is super amazing your video as always. Would it possible to have a video jump serve tutorial for left handed players? I am currently learning it and i would like to master it possibly.
Question about lifting weights and athletic training. Do we want to lift to maximum failure and grow our muscles?? I know that mobility and arm swing mechanics become lost a little with bigger arms, but what’s acceptable and what is best?
Coach, when are you allowed to move from your rotation as a setter? When the server releases or tosses the ball or upon the contact hit? Thank you! Big fan of your videos. Currently learning and you have been a big help ❤❤
I have a question to ask. When you're doing your approach to spike, do you have to consciously bend your knees while doing the 3-step approach so that after your 3 steps approach, you jump higher?
Can you please please make a video about arm swing after taking off. I have seen your arm swing mechanics video and i followed it. But when i jump my mind goes blank and dont know what iam doing and i always hit ball out or in the net. Please HELP ME 🙏😭😩also YOU MADE ME PLAY VOLLEYBALL AND IAM GRATEFUL TO YOU. LOBE YOU ❤❤❤
Hey Donny, I appreciate you making this video, it’s helped me as a player but there’s something else I gotta ask you. How do you get so much top spin on the ball when you’re jump serving?
Coach danny, any advice about my mistake. I always jump under the ball. How to fix that? My last step always near the net. Any suggestions how far I should jump from the net line. Thanks so much
Hey coach please tell me the tips to right hit on top of the ball while playing....because when I hit... the ball goes flat ...I saw some of the players hits the ball with a closed hand...is there any difference between closed and opened hand hitting..
Hi. I have learnt the three-step approach and I am right-handed. It's just that I am always jumping off my right leg even if I try to go left. My right leg just slides in front of my left leg when I am about to jump. Can you maybe give ideas of how to stop this? I come from many sports and my right leg has always been my stronger leg.
Hey do you have any tips on how to straighten your body out quickly from the first step to the penultimate and last step? I’ve only been playing volleyball for a couple months and i want to implement jumping when i play.

Hi! I am right handed but my 3 step spike routine is right - left - right. It that a huge problem in beach volleyball? Trying to fix it seems really hard
i have a question on he penultimate step. i’m scared to commit 100% because i feel like i could end up injuring my achilles tendon due to the motion. is this something that’s even possible or should i just commit 100%?
Its a nervous system thing, you can try a drill with a resistance band and you push punch (penultimate) otherwise you'll not get passed the bands. Maybe it won't work but look up penultimate drills.
There is a question I always ask wchich is How to focus between jump and spike ? when the setter set the ball I can't focus how to jump but without the ball I can jump well Is there any secret for this ? Thanks
I have the first step problem and when i get to my penultimate step to my third step, my thirdstep is always parallel to my penultimate step landing. How can i fix this coach?
hello coach, I've been trying to practice this approach, but I always get the tempo wrong, sometimes i'm in a hurry, sometimes I'm slow, sometimes I take an extra step, do u have any tips or exercise to get my precise approach?
I’m no coach but one tip I got was to do the steps really slowly at the right distance each, doing it in slow mode before doing it faster while making sure each angle is correctly put each times I’m jumping
1. Too long of a first step 2. Galloping Withing the Approach 3. Consistent Approach Speed 4. Diving with Upper Body into the Approach 5. Chicken Wing Back Arm Swing
I'm transitioning from football (soccer) to volleyball and most of my power comes from my left leg and I notice whenever I jump my left leg pushed off the ground more then my right leg. Does this affect the way I jump? Do I give less power or hight to my right hand by having the majority of my jump on the left leg?
Despite constant practice in jumping over the months, i still get tired after only just one good jump then the rest are between 1-3 inches lower. Got any tips?

Hey is it bad if I'm right-handed but my three step starts with my left foot and ends left foot? I naturally lead with my left foot so it became my run up. does it affect my spike and should i change it if it does?
I can give you a sixth... "Keeping your arms in front of your body the whole approach". I see a lot of younger athletes not use their arms because they are concentrating on hitting the ball.

Hey coach, could you do a tutorial on left hand hitting? I'm a visual learner and most of the players around me are right handed.

Thanks for that video, but I have one question. Does the knee position (right under the body, slightly in front of the body) common in your vertical?
Thanks coach🔥🔥
I love this channel genuinely....because it helps me❤

I have a question to you, what are the reasons why I go under the ball while spiking. And what can be its solution.
this new griddy tutorial is cool
can you teach us how to improve our spike aim or court vision

thank you, coach donny!
Hello! I just started volleyball about 2 months ago and I was wondering if you could teach us how to feint a volleyball?

Coach, when are you allowed to move from your rotation as a setter? When the server releases or tosses the ball or upon the contact hit? Thank you! Big fan of your videos. Currently learning and you have been a big help ❤❤
Once the server tosses the ball, it is considered live. So if the server misses and touches the ground, technically it is a point for the other team.
@@dhdeanha okay thank you 🙏 and
When server makes contact
Sir Please make vedio on defense reaction
thank you

Love from India ❤️😍😍😍 ❤️❤️
Hey coach Donny i have a question, how can you get the right timing to jump when the setter throws you the ball ?
for the having too big of a first step, how small should the first step be in comparison to your penultimate step
Coach danny, any advice about my mistake. I always jump under the ball. How to fix that? My last step always near the net. Any suggestions how far I should jump from the net line. Thanks so much

Does having no traction on shoes affect the spiking approach?

Hi Coach Donny, is it recommended for middle hitters to make an angle with the feet on the third step?
You are my volleyball coach 😁💪❤🎉

Sir I am getting to start Asthma. Should I play volleyball or not please answer me?
It's your damn choice
If I am a beach volleyball player is better to do the 3 or 4 step approach?
Hey coach Donny, what shoes are you wearing in this video?
he’s wearing the dame 8
Why does when i do the approach i tend to stop rather than jumping, is there any ways to still correct this?
whats your standing reach don?
I need a set of exercise to help me jump higher
Ok when should I take the first slow non agressive step after setter touches the ball or little bit before? this is my main issue
what about slippery court or shoes? cuz i think that is a important factor that limits my height reach
There is a question I always ask wchich is
How to focus between jump and spike ?
when the setter set the ball I can't focus how to jump but without the ball I can jump well
Is there any secret for this ?
Thanks
Can you teach me how to do an approach
I have the first step problem and when i get to my penultimate step to my third step, my thirdstep is always parallel to my penultimate step landing. How can i fix this coach?
I have soccer jump where double feet jump instead of the actual jump. what do i have to do in order to stop that?
does concentration on the ball of your foot ( the big meat thingy under the big toe, from haikyuu, hinata) when you jump get you to jump higher?
I'm able to hit well in practice however once I try apply it to a jump I can never get good hitting form
Hey coach, please help me my legs dont fold in air what should i do ?
how to spike a volleyball when ur a small player?
Qué linda persona eres! Gracias!

My shoulder is in so much pain when I'm spiking. It starts 2018 until now. How to cure this. 😭
Still curious as how to position my body when spiking i have a tendency to get under the ball how do i avoid this?
maybe timing or ur setter isnt setting right?
either you have to work on your timing, or you have to start your approach further. Could be your setter's fault too
