im sure that after playing so many matches for so many years they can just tell from a spikers form or angle that the hit will probably go long, super impressive and thats why kentaro is my fav
He can read the hitters shoulder and eyes to see that he is aiming for high hands (the ball barely touches the blockers hands and goes too far to get for their teammates).
Back in the day I would throw feign solo blocks (this was in grass triples so no double blocks) - go up early and show a line block, then reach back cross as the hitter hit through… got quit a few that way. I had hang time back then (early 90s).

@@QuentinNeill yea, it works really well. Lots of top blockers in both beach and indoor will do this sometimes.
