But also fits the narrative of Bruce’s arc and character. His trauma is affected by that night. And the reason he didn’t kill superman was because of that moment.

@@tacofingerz7247 No it wasn't. That's a very shitty interpretation of Batman. I can personally show you studies by psychologists that say Batman doesn't have PTSD. It's pure love and desire for justice.
@@brucew565 Pure love and desire for justice? Theres more than that for a guy who dresses up as a Bat every night to go out to fight crime. Theres a hell of a lot more than "love" inside that man if theres any. Batman had one rule, and tjat very rule itself has killed more people than has saved. Think about all the people that have died because he refused to kill the Joker, it really makes you think. Im not saying he shouldve been a killer like other crime fighters but it only goes too far to show you that its been a long time for him to stick to his rule without even being critical about it. He says he won't kill because he doesnt want to become what he is "fighting" against, but by refusing to do that, way more people are dying, so its not about killing, its about HIM not wanting to become a killer, its really fuckin selfish and egocentric. He loves to break bones and infflict pain, he is quite addicted to it, there is no love whatsoever, only anger. "Pure love and desire for justice" really? Come on.
I love how Bruce Wayne falls just as his parents are killed... This shows Burce Wayne was fallen when his parents were killed. In the agony, he embraced his fear of bats and became Batman... Infact, since the beginning of the scene, there is a lot of emphasis on the word 'Fallen'. Throughout the scene, we see a lot of things falling like leaves, sparks, Bruce's father, bullet, Martha, and then Bruce. This scene has so much depth and meaning than many of the whole movies out there... And that's the reason it gets hatred from many people who aren't able to understand it. Well done Zack. I now understand that you had a plan, a great one. The only problem I had was, you made a very long movie, and that was the reason Warner Bros edited it and chopped it to 2 and half hours from 3 hours. If you had planned for a 2 and half hour movie in the beginning, just like Man Of Steel, it would have been really amazing, none the less, it still is, atleast for me.

There was a time above...a time before...there were perfect things...diamond absolutes. But things fall...things on earth. And what falls...is fallen. In the dream, it took me to the light. A beautiful lie.
This in my opinion is the best opening scene to any superhero movie ever made. The cinematography, the music... I get goosebumps everytime i watch this
"Beautiful Lie" Bruce falls into pit. He sees light. He sees bats. Bats lift him to light. Bruce sees his parents get murdered in front of his eyes and thus he falls into grief. He sees that fighting for justice as his only hope for light. It seemed to him that the symbol of bat picked him from the pit and showed him the light. But actually the light where the bats took him gave him endless battles and endless sadness. And his moral code is facing constant conflict ever since he embraced the bats. The light of seeking justice never gave Batman peace. This is what I think of beautiful lie scene of BVS. And I think Snyder meant the same.
Ive been using this quote. My friends told me my crush also liked me, but she got wit someone else. My dream was that i couldve had a relationship. The light was my crush. The lie was me thinking i cuda got with her.

Zack Snyder can make the most comic accurate movie of all time and the haters would tell him to come up with his own ideas and to stop taking inspiration from comics.
At 2:00 has anyone thought that they're setting up for flashpoint? Cause in that Thomas Wayne makes a move on Chill and actually gets him but ends up killing Bruce in the process.... Food for thought
Joe DeMarco if Snyder's vision still existed , this moment could've played out as it is in BvS , but this exact moment would've been recreated in the future only with a slight difference of Thomas fighting off the mugger and Bruce dying in the Flashpoint movie
Well don't worry guys, we didn't get Darkseid a few years back, and we probably won't see him until around late 2020s. But The Flash movie is coming out in 2022, which will include the Flashpoint storyline. So not all hope is lost for us to finally see Thomas Wayne as The Batman
Watch the ultimate edition and pay close atention to Lois Lane throughout the whole movie, let yourself engage to the experience and hopefully it will change your mind. It is pretty much impossible to completely feel this movie if you can't catch up all the signs it has. It is a 3 hour masterpiece.
Gabe Selden at least MB can make a franchise work, 5 movies and a spin-off is nothing to be ashamed of. ZS made 2 and a third that was finished by a better director
𝓛𝓮𝓿 the fact that the quality of the action is the first thing to get mentioned shows how people can't pay attention to films unless there's some fighting in it. When action has to be mentioned (unless it's awful, which it wasnt in this movie) to criticize the film instead of the film itself, it shows how much one can't pay attention to movies, or appreciate it for it's other aspects, such as symbolism, character growth, etc.
i feel like after the theatrical came out so many people complained about them retelling this alley scene but in my opinion this is the best representation we’ve ever gotten of the alley scene .
Absolutely. Not insulting the audience by showing every little detail, but instead using the visual storytelling to encapsulate the PTSD-like choppiness of how a memory is recalled, and the vital moments of it like Martha’s necklace and Thomas muttering “Martha…” setting up the themes and character undertones of the film. All with a beautiful soundtrack
Shivers go down my spine when young Bruce starts rising up like a dark angel with him adapting to the bat frenzy almost as if they accepted him with that beautiful batman theme.

You don’t say… Feige said that it would be stupid to ever make his heroes fight each other and that he would never allow Marvel to make a live action Civil War… a year after, BvS was announced at Comic Con, and then next year Feige announced Civil War… Snyder and Nolan made BvS because it was a personal movie, with real thematics and authors points of view. Feige only made Civil War to go against DC and make the same thing with his heroes to make more money, even though he said 4 years before that he would never do that..,
You need an artistic minded audience too to appreciate such a rare masterpiece. This is CINEMA! Those who said BVS was crap have no taste in good cinema.
The subtlety of that scene is great, when Thomas Wayne thrusts his hand in front of Bruce's face you can hear the leather, I barely noticed it at this moment, he didn't die like a coward

The opening alone does all the work a trilogy needs. Tells you this Batman is violent because his father went down fighting, which accidentally killed his wife. This Batman doesn't believe in hopeful hero anymore, Bruce Wayne lost control to the bat..... Until... he makes a promise to someone. That THEIR mother won't die.
In my experience the response of a person towards a life shocking event depends on how much is lost. Couple of scenarios to illustrate my point, young couple looses their child. A happy couple will respond differently from a couple that had relationship issues. Or a couple that looses the child because of a dissease or because a maniac raped and killed the child. Straight up both couples lost a child, but relative to the situation: a couple with relationship issues will already be in an unhappy situation. The loss of a child will have less of an impact, and if the child would be lost because of a dissease it would be immensely horrible but relatively less impactful then the loss because of a violent crime. What Snyder does is make Bruce Wayne start by describing his past. The diamond absolute, perfect things. Then we see him with his parents, look how happy they are together. How often do we see families that happy? These pieces build an enormous impact from a violent death on young Bruce Wayne. Which supports Batman. Beautifully done. This happens in Bruces's dream, this must have happened like 30-40 years ago and Bruce Wayne still describes it as yesterday. The entire film the death of his parents is present in Bruce's story arch, whereas the nolan verse forgets it after Batman Begins.
What many idiots don't understand about the story, is that this moment is what has defined Bruce Wayne's life until now. It is the why of Batman. It gnaws away at him every night and it's why he starts to break bad and hunt Superman. Because when Superman arrives it reminds him of this night. That's why those two scenes are positioned back-to-back at the beginning of the movie. The infamous "Martha" scene was just Bruce having to deal with these wounds. It's rather simple and not very pretentious or complicated in any way. Idiots just don't understand.
not spotted it in the comments but probably is there somewhere within the 1k+ comments but did everyone else notice that as Bruce rises from cave his body has the shape of a bat? 4:35 I mean how facking awesome is this scene, it looks like the little bats are helping & guiding bruce to the light, reborn as a bat. The images can not be denied to be art.
Daniel Siekris It had a very simle plot really, the only thing missing is the occasional marvel quips which makes you forget where the fuck the story goes in the first place. Hence receive less criticism. Honestly, its not a bad film, its simply misunderstood. If you have any doubts I can provide insight to you, maybe it might change your mind?

In life we don't appreciate things until they are gone...sometimes we have to watch the movie that's in front us & not the movie we built up in our heads!
Thank you Zack Snyder for giving us characters that had weight & substance to them.
Guys....the imagery, the symbolism, the music, and the emotional impact of this overall sequence....it's still got me f'ed up two years later....just wow....simply amazing.
"In the dreams, they took me to the light."

zack snyder + hans zimmer = Beautiful scene
Every time I watch this scene,I will cry.
The best explanation for that Martha Scene is perhaps this dialogue :-
My body shuddered under the burden of adrenaline and my mind was a shadow of its whole self, and yet through the very cloud of my beautiful pain I heard her name Martha. An impossible glimpse of bright light pierced the storm of my heart and was nothing more than a child again. I realized then, that the darkness which had taken my heart now threatened to take my very being. I was becoming the very thing which crushed my younger self, a cruel fate worse than any other agony. I sought to exact the pain I suffered on a being I hardly understood, except that he had a mother, and her name was Martha. And it broke me.
This is poetry visualized.
goal in life is to have a kid that cares that much bout me that he would become crimefighter if I was killed.
yg momBa hear hear :)
Just make sure you have plenty of stuff to ensure that your kid is very, very well off
It was not just because he loved them, it was a trauma.
A Rahul ikr! Actually i disappointed with Bvs they should have made it good hmm , i was expecting bvs will do more better than man of steel And lot of fighting scene than man of steel, but we ain't got that , even batman vs superman ain't enough, its just to short hmm , than JL disappointed me the most! Lame action fight, they should make the action like man of steel or JL crisis on earth

I can’t honestly explain how much I love his film. Sorry for my grammar if ever, English isn’t my first language
The most realistic and very much able to relate to superhero is Batman !!! Salute to Zimmer nd Junkie xl for this wonderful piece of music
I get goosebumps everytime i watch this
"Beautiful Lie"
Bruce falls into pit.
And I think Snyder meant the same.
beautiful indeed. And that folks is why batman kills, coz he got fed up with the Beautiful lie.
Trust me... This movie is way more deep than we imagine it to be...
Ive been using this quote. My friends told me my crush also liked me, but she got wit someone else. My dream was that i couldve had a relationship. The light was my crush. The lie was me thinking i cuda got with her.

Joe DeMarco very good call my friend. It's coming
Joe DeMarco if Snyder's vision still existed , this moment could've played out as it is in BvS , but this exact moment would've been recreated in the future only with a slight difference of Thomas fighting off the mugger and Bruce dying in the Flashpoint movie
That was the plan before WB fucked it up.
Well don't worry guys, we didn't get Darkseid a few years back, and we probably won't see him until around late 2020s. But The Flash movie is coming out in 2022, which will include the Flashpoint storyline. So not all hope is lost for us to finally see Thomas Wayne as The Batman

cmasc966 The entirety of the movie was not knit together well.
While this scene is the definition of perfection, the rest of the film far from that
Action wasnt good enough and batman was overall a godawful character and rendition of himself
This scenes good cause afleck isnt in it.
I think the same way except for Man of Steel. I know I'm in the minority but I absolutely adored Man of Steel, yet I hated BvS.
This scene made me cry...
i feel like after the theatrical came out so many people complained about them retelling this alley scene but in my opinion this is the best representation we’ve ever gotten of the alley scene .
Man, imagine a flashpoint movie with Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne and playing this song. Ugh, what I would do to see that happen.

The best intro in any movie.... And the most impactful origin story in so tiny duration...
This scene makes me cry every damn time i see it
I still think this version of his parents dying is the best one. The music, camera work, and acting are all great
In my experience the response of a person towards a life shocking event depends on how much is lost.
This hands down imo is the best iteration of the Waynes' Death ever put to film. It looks so much from The Dark Knight Returns
Am obsessed with this Scene and that Godly BGM.... The beautiful lie... Such Perfection....
Idiots just don't understand.
this story will inspire millions and will make them think 10 times before committing a crime because they will see what the victim ends up in.
